Both Jim Fixx and Euell Gibbons died anyway.

Exercise and eating reasonably well make me feel better, but obsession with either does not. (I am not saying anyone here is like that - just making a general plug for moderation)

yeah I remember when naturalist Euell Gibbons died, they said he died of "natural" causes, and I thought THAT was the joke...
Thanks for this!

You can say it, stopdog. It's cool. I own it. I am a bit OCD about exercise, although I'm doing better about being moderate. I am no longer on the bike for an hour and a half a day. It was funny because at one point, my T tried to talk to me about my exercise habits. He said it seemed like I was trying to "kill" my emotions with exercise. My response, "well duh," and went on to talk about something else. It took me almost a week to realize he meant that like it was a bad thing.

I have tipped over into too much on either one and it makes me feel worse as it becomes more and more of a focus. It is also a way of not interacting with others for me - can't do x or y because of diet or need to exercise. I do better with regular exercise and I really like vegetables and whole grains without much added to them - so as long as I am paying some attention - I feel better. And I have friends who are much better athletes than I am (or ever could be) and trying to keep up with them on bikes or rock climbing or whatever was going to kill me.

I was definitely using exercise as a way of avoiding interacting with my husband.

Completely off topic here....

My H heard back from his company and they withheld their decision to terminate which means we now go to an Arbitration and there is no set time frame for that to take place because it involves the Board of Labor. This is the only part of a process where a neutral party hears both sides and decides. If he wins, he could get back all his lost wages and his seniority. That is what happened to another employee who went to Arbitration. That employee was out close to year though. My H really needs to find a new job soon. I'm packing my condo up. We can pay this months rent. We can't pay any bills next month. I'm going to be homeless.

I use exercise to flush out emotions/emotional energy, in a way. If I didn't run or lift weights, I am afraid I'd be so restless nobody could stand me. And I'm afraid my anxiety (existential fear crap) might start running me again instead of me running it .... And lately I have been so peeved at some things in my life .... I HAVE to exercise! Or else I am like this Well, that's a bit dramatic, but sort of too close to the truth, too ..... I am much more calm and even-tempered and less likely to get all irritable if I have had a dang good run.
But speaking of exercise, a couple toes have been bothering me. I had a checkup this a.m. Asked the doctor about them and he said probably related to all my running (I do no more than 18-20 miles a week, over 4 days, and only one day is a long run, with a rest day before and a bike ride the next.....) and he goes, you and I aren't 18 anymore, you know! I'm like, yeah, I know! He's only a bit older than me and is a triathlete and a fast runner, but keeps tweaking his knee playing basketball, so I have teased him about that...... but yeah, I'm not 18 anymore. Nonetheless, I can run the legs off of a lot of 18 yr olds I know!

Oh I am sorry; that sucks! I'm sorry this didn't go better for you and H. Is H already looking for a job elsewhere? Is there ay sort of severance package they're supposed to give ...... or some aid you can apply for?
For a while, there were concerns that my H would lose his job too (he works for the Postal Service) because they were thinking of closing the plant where he works. So he was doing job-hunting too in preparation. But they would also have had to give him and other employees a lot of compensation as well if they followed through those plans. Some of that has been put on hold till after Jan 2014 - his place is safe till after then, anyway ......

I am so sorry to hear this, TTGB! I hope your H finds another job ASAP. I don't want you guys to be homeless. You and your H will be in my prayers.

Thank you all for being supported. I have been hurting really bad not being able to see my T thru all of this. I have decided that it is time for me to leave PC-because it just hurts more when I come here and see everyone posting about their sessions and stuff. I am in a really bad way, pretty close to having a major nervous breakdown and I am now just in survival mode. Take care everyone..thank you for all the support and hopefully I can come eventually.

TTGB, I will miss you. I understand why you would want to leave, but know if you ever need anything, just let me know. You and your H are in my prayers.

I'll Miss you too, I have been kinda MIA and I am about to embark on my own journey as well. I may have to sell my house and I'll be single , first time since I was 20. I'm scared and I will be of no use to anyone here. I'll pray for you TTGB.

Stopdog-yes, my fault...I'm self destructive and I choose not to go to the last appointment, I told him, but not her. She had a realtor here Tuesday and I'm scrambling to cover the cost to buy her out or I'll be forced to sell.thenthere is the question of debt etc.... Never again will I ever mix money with anyone nor will I purchase something with another. Funny thing is I still love her, we have agreed to seperate ..she will live in Louisiana with the eldest and her H and kids this summer, as they are having baby 3 and the baby is projected to have a problem along the Downsyndrome line, that being the best scenario. I will stay at my house in Texas or in my rental and concentrate on me...T 3 times a week or more.

Non sequitur!

Scared people are just as valuable as the rest. Any way, most of us here are scared.

Thanks Choppin, actually this has been one of the worst days of my life... I was written up at work for attendance and I somehow hoped a curb and blew out 2 tires , rims, suspension ... Yet I'm feeling calm

After all that, Lola...your calm worries me...

I'm fine. I'm just being a big whiny baby:

LC - sorry you had a bad day too.

Is it something in the air or the water? I just stayed in bed all day and did not answer the phone at all. Sounds like the safest plan.
