Hi!!! Just got back from bringing my daughter to a b-day party.. Looks like you all had a serious conversation while I was a way. I skimmed through what everybody said, and I hope as well that people begin to feel safe to post here. I do feel safe enough to.. And I do try to share any kind of insight that I may have to posters. That being said, I don't feel like I have very much insight.. So, I may not answer a lot of people PC and the couch has been great for me, helped me navitgate through T and help me understand my depression, panic, and rape issues. I only hope it can do the same for all of you as well!!

My cats all have their claws. That type of furniture appears to be giant cat scratching posts for my cats. I decided a long time ago to get furniture I liked but could not easily be destroyed by the cats as I like the cats more than couches.
Thanks for this!

When the salt has lost its flavour, wherefrom shall it be salted?

Flavouring molecules can dissolve and drain away, or they can evaporate.

so far knock on wood my cats of about 2 1/2 years old do not feel the need to scratch on anything but the cat tree we have set up and the big scratching post with a shelf for them on top. i hope it stays that way when the couches arrive. i could never have them declawed it is cruel and dangerous

I think we all get triggered from time to time. And some of us, when triggered, lash out in ways that trigger others.

Some people here do not approve of the way I treat my daughter. (I just want her to respect my workspace, for goodness sake!) I assume that comes from their own painful experiences and that leads them to overreact.

Granite - can you come train my cat? I thought she was an angel until one day I found stuffing all over the floor. One end of the couch shredded. It's a free couch someone gave me, but I still like it. I tried sticky paws and she scratched right through them. Tin foil seems to work...but it looks kinda dumb.

first i am going to cover the couches in sheets and i am also going to put cat nip on the cat tree and post and we also play bunches with them when they are on the tree or the top of the post .it is kind of cute they jump on them and sit looking at us expectantally .wanting us to throw ping pong balls for them to bat or milc carton rings. they do have a lot they can scratch on that is ok so i hope they will continue to leave the couuches alone. i have also trained them to stay off out kitchen counters. i have a passthrough from our livingroom into the kitchen so the cats sit in the passthrough watching us cook but wont step a paw down on the counter.i did that because we have a glass top stove that you cant always tell is hot so i wanted them to never go near it lol .but the kitchen table is free game to jump on and spend the day watching the woodpeckers eat the suet.lol we dont eat on the kitchen table

Congrats Granite.
It took me YEARS to accept the fact that I needed to purchase a couch. Having a couch felt like a huge commitment and that I was locking myself down in one place. I worried constantly about how I would get rid of it if I had to suddenly leave. Finally, after much back and forth with T, I purchased a couch just a few months back. I only had one chair up to that point.

My cats don't claw it, but they do sleep on the back of it. I have to keep a big blanket over the back of it so they don't leave fur all over.

my thought too was to add more chili powder (and to me, it's not chili w/out beans ... but that's just me. )

Those soups sound really good.
I was going to make a new squash recipe, but I forgot to soak the beans for it...so that gets made tomorrow. I am making a homemade cheese pizza to watch with the Packers game tonight.
