Oh I remember all these shows. I was always a sucker for any authority figure who showed kindness--total opposite of my experience, so I didn't believe any of them, but it was like a fantasy. I even vaguely remember Ben Casey! And definitely Dr Kildare--major crush there!

Movies: 101 Dalmations!
Thanks for this!

I was in elementary school; might have been reruns because I think I watched after school?

Hi all. My favourite Disney film (excluding short films) when I was a child must have been Fantasia. It's still a strong contender. But I'm also very fond of Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Dumbo, and Alice in Wonderland (which may be the only animated Disney film I've seen without a love story, which is a HUGE point in its favour.) Aladdin is one of the few films I've seen more than once in the cinema - I think I saw it five times when it came.

Foreign movies are not dubbed in Sweden, except for films targetted at small children. However, in recent years the cinemas have realised that there's a largish audience who want to watch the original versions of Disney and Pixar movies, so those are generally shown both in a dubbed and a subtitled version. That's great, not least because it means the showings tend to have very few children in the audience.

I watched Bedknobs and Broomsticks for the first time a few months ago. There are some really wonderful musical numbers in there. I've looked up the Portobello Road scene on Youtube; it's not as good as watching it on a bigger screen, but still really good and funny. I like Mary Poppins a lot, too. (I'm no fan of the movie version of the Wizard of Oz, though, partly because of the horrible ending which rather ruins it. Also, I knew the book pretty much by heart as a kid, and watched the film for the first time in my 20s, so for me the book version is the canonical one and I find the film version stupid.)

It's 6:45 AM, and I'm just getting back from my investigation.

Does anyone remember the movie Dot and the Kangaroo? It was a movie I saw when I was a kid - loved it - and then had the most difficult time finding it again when VHS tapes were the latest thing. I wanted my daughter to be able to watch it like I did when I was a kid.

Now it's much more easily accessible....but when I finally got the movie and watched it, I realized how sad the movie was and that the message wasn't so great....so I put it away and never watched it again.

Nobody I know has ever watched the movie.....so I'd be interested to know if any of my couch peeps have watched it.

Time to get some zzz's....it's starting to get light out....nighty, night!

Morning peeps... I loved Witch Mountain and Bedknobs and Broomsticks, but my favs were Aristocats, Lady and the Tramp, That Darn Cat and Mary Poppins.

Tops for me...101 Dalmatians (go figure)

Rainbow Rose...I hope Art Therapy goes well.

Ready...Drink lots of real organic juice, and tea, and take care of yourself.

Hope all of the headaches go away, those things are nasty...hate them.

Off to church...
later.

Does anyone have any experience with seeing a life coach? Also are life coaches actually therapist or are they different? I don't want any more therapy than what I'm doing but I need someone that I can just go over my day to day with and figure out what to do and how to handle every day situations differently without it having to be about the past.

Any feedback would be appreciated! Thanks Couchies.

Well, I have worried about where I am going to church and my daughter woke up this morning having a hard time breathing, nasty cough, and fever. So, we are going to bring her to urgent care when they open just to make sure she doesn't need a breathing treatment.. So, the only person going to church today is my son, b/c we are dropping him off with the inlaws..

No Jerz...I have no idea, but I think maybe you could ask T about it?

Healed...poor little baby. I hope it goes well. My son used to have bad bronchial attacks like that, I hated it.

Good morning couch.
Wiki - have a good time at church. That is where I am headed soon as well.
Healed - I hope your daughter feels better soon.
Jersey - Sorry, no life coach experience here either. Although, what you describe sounds a bit like what I do with my t actually. We don't go day to day, but we focus on what I am doing here and now.

The Sconnie Weather Report for this morning: 6 degrees with a windchill of minus 13. Brrrrr!

Thanks everyone. I'm gonna research on the computer as well.

Sconnie-I try to focus on the here and now at times in T, but she always somehow relates every little thing to the past! It irks me sometimes. "Hey T, I went out dinner with my sister last night and ordered the eggplant"
"Well Jersey, tell me more about the eggplant. I think you ordered that because your parents never showed you love"

Okay...maybe not that bad but you get the point...

Granite, my sons and my neices and newphews all loved the Brave Little Toaster. I also remember the dinosaur movies "The Land before Time" with Little Foot, and Sarah

Well I need to get showered and get ready for church... I was feeling so bad yesterday I didn't even take one and I never skip showering...

I need to get moving because I'll have to add 15 minutes time for all the medicine and nebulizer breathing treatment.

Perhaps that is where I fall short - I never trusted the kindness of authority figures to be anything other than a ruse. I saw it as, they would be kind if it would get you to do what they wanted, and if that kindness attempt did not sway you, then they would still force you, or crush you etc. So they would get their way and you would not count no matter what. Better, in my opinion, to just stay away from them altogether.

101 Dalmations was too fraught with peril for me. (most of the animal ones were even if they ended happy. I don't why I could bear aristocats as well as as I did)

Morning all, trying a new church today. Can you say anxiety ridden? I have T at 9 am tomorrow and I have to go see my boss. I wanna talk to HR first. I feel like my life is balancing on a string. Tomorrow it may be cut, wife is also unsure and anxious. I feel like I really messed up this time and hope to find some peace today.

Healed - I hope your daughter is okay

RTS - I hope breathing gets easier

LC - I hope you do find some peace today. Forgiving yourself may be a step in that process. Perhaps not focusing on what you view as your messing up - but rather that you are doing a good non messing up thing by allowing yourself to get the help you want and need.

Maybe not falling short--maybe I just needed the fantasy as an escape. And now that I think about it, it was pretty frightening--maybe it helped exorcise a few demons? Or seeing the pups escape made it feel possible? Don't know.

Couldn't deal with those flying monkeys (WOO) though, at all!
