Trigger for suicide discussion

Just found out my nephew's on again, off again girlfriend committed suicide last night. She had tried several times before, and at least once it was my nephew who saved her. This time he wasn't able to get there in time after she called. Poor baby is absolutely devastated. He had even driven her to a mental health facility once, but as soon as the hold time was up, she left and went back to doing exactly what she did before, and insisting she was fine.

MKAC - I'm sorry. That must be so hard for him.

He is absolutely devastated, my sister says, and feels responsible. He doesn't know what to do. I am hoping that he gets some mental health assistance for himself so he realizes this is absolutely not his fault.

That's awful, suicidal people usually don't think about anyone but themselves at that moment.
Thanks for this!

True, Lola, but it ends up being devastating and frustrating for the people they leave behind who begged them to get help and do something differently after the first few attempts. She was only 21. She is the same girlfriend of his who hit a 5 year old kid in the face right after my dad's funeral. AND THEN she and my nephew tried to say she had a RIGHT to do so. People are posting stuff on her facebook page, like an ex-boyfriend was sharing a story about dating her in high school, and his parents having to force her to leave. She had a meltdown about it and sat in the middle of road and wouldn't move even when traffic went by, until the kid's dad gave up and let her come back in.

My point there was that she clearly had issues for a very long time. Her mom had told me last year that she was afraid the girl would kill herself. She checked the girl into a hospital, but since she was over 18, they had to let her leave after the hold because she was not "flagrantly" suicidal.

I am learning how bad it is to be the one left behind and I can see that he must be in terrible pain, I hope you can help comfort him. It's not his fault and I hope he can see that.

As awful as it sounds, it isn't my bad stuff. I love my nephew, but I didn't like this girl AT ALL. Once she hit the little kid, I just couldn't stand her.

I feel like saying to T:

You're the biggest problem in my life. I'll come back when I find a bigger one.

CE when do you see T again? You need to put it on the back burner and let it simmer for awhile.

T is working on a safety plan. Grrrr... Those things are stupid, and I really don't need one.

Disassociated, flashed back, heavy heart, depression, nap. I have a feeling bed will be my best friend the next few days. I asked her a question. She said I should ask my pastor. It had nothing to do with God or spirituality. Maybe my pastor should get her co-pay this week? I pay the woman to answer my questions, not refer me to an unpaid friend. Sheesh.

Tired, so going back to bed. I guess the depression is settling in. Figures, just when I need it to NOT be lingering.

Hi everyone.

So...I found my first grey hair today, growing from my own head, that is. I can probably thank therapy induced stress for that, surely.

MKAC - your muffins sound really tasty.
Healed - hope you had a good vacation day. I have an eggless recipe for cookie dough... but you don't bake it... just eat it as dough.
Wiki
Nightlight - I remember discovering my first white hair... now I have tons of them... and I am not 35 yet. Ugh.
Hi everyone else...

The worst thing was the it's seriously the first grey hair I've had and I noticed it at the hairdressers. They have "bathroom" mirrors. The lighting is so bright and you can see every flaw which is quite disturbing, though I guess it helps them as they do professional makeup application and other stuff. If you could get makeup looking flawless there, it would look good anywhere. And in that spectacularly bright natural lighting (thanks all glass ceiling, you make me look so lovely) there is a bright white hair. All sticking out away from the other hairs in a static sort of way, "look at me"!

This has been a very long day. Still can't hold of my sister, but I talked to her best friend. The friend is an energy vampire. But she's helping out with things at my sister's place, so I have to cut her slack. My sister's pastor is passive-aggressively trying to guilt the siblings. I don't think he knows just how complicated our relationships with her are. It's been a 30 year challenge and I'm tired. I want to opt out of the drama.

But my T is freaking awesome. He said exactly the right things. I've never really wanted to hug him, but I sure wanted to today.
