I see you Lola! I am working on some EOY crap already for a few clients, so I'm distracted.

You'd have loved my mom's face. She was dumbstruck. "Ok dear, I guess if that's what you think is best". Ha ha. I feel powerful...um, er...empowered. lol

I feel that way sometimes also, Ready. I am, however, reasonably sure there are actually no internet gods and that in reality, computers just hate me with a deep and abiding passion. LOL.
Thanks for this!

I have been bleeding the radiators because I turned the heat on for real today rather than just using the space heater. I only use space heaters when I am at home and awake - I would never sleep with one going.

Stopdog, there are radiator style space heaters that are really safe. Safety shut offs and auto-shut off if it tips over. We used one for an elderly cat for almost a year.
Thanks for this!

I do have a couple of the radiator type ones because of their safety factor- I just have a fear around house fires. Our house burned down when I was little from a wiring problem in a brand new built house.

I live in an old house and I have a boiler. Bleeding the radiators (letting air out that gets in the pipes so the water can run through the pipes) is sort of fun. I had never seen a radiator until I went to college and lived in an ancient dorm. The clanging scared the crap out of me the first few times. When I bought the house, I upgraded all sorts of stuff, but the boiler is fairly efficient and removing/replacing it all would be a big hassle. I had no duct work at all which was messy when I added in central air (for my first dog who was sweltering. In my youth heat did not really bother me. Now I am happy for the ac just like the dogs are).

And also about how computers have the ability to have a pathological hatred for someone.

I would imagine my parochial elementary school had radiators, but I don't remember one way or the other. I was so terrified of the nuns and lay teachers, the utilities were not something I focused on. And I only went there for a couple of years. But I don't recall it being state of the art in any fashion and it was an old building - so added duct work would have been a very unusual thing at the time.

I don't think I've ever realised how different our worlds are until now...

I, on the other hand, have never been in a private home with air conditioning. Hotels and libraries abroad, yes, but never a home.

wow....amazing things you learn here!

Here in New England, most new homes have central air, but most existing homes do not. When I was growing up, only the wealthy had ac. We did have those nasty banging radiators that were huge and got HOT in the winter. I used to keep my shoes on the one in my bedroom so they would be warm in the morning. They were hot enough to burn skin, but not hot enough to set material on fire, so it was often where wet clothes went to dry off. My grandmother kept a tea kettle full of water and dried herbs on hers, made the air breathable and smelled good. Probably the reason I love lavender so much now.

Can you believe I can't find my mom's taxes? Me. Of all people. Should. Know. Where. These. Are. Grrrrrr. I may have to call my colleague and ask for a new copy. Embarrassing.

As I recall, Wikid, you had A LOT going on while you were taking care of all of that for your mother. Maybe you could cut yourself a bit of slack about not being able to find them.
Thanks for this!

and Mast, I DO NOT like your status. You shouldn't lie on PC because the internet gods will strike you down. You may get boils or something.

Mast, now that I've noticed your status (thanks Wikid), it really bothers me. It actually makes me feel a bit queasy. I don't usually ask things like this, but would you maybe consider changing it? I really like you and identify with you and you calling yourself repulsive is painful. [Because it's all about me, don'tcha know.]
Thanks for this!
