My best friend i had when I was a child had a back up career when she was 18. I remember she was a very orderly child and would not deviate from the rules of the game we played. I was a very chaotic child and used to upset her greatly, it a wonder we became such good friends.

We graduated 990 seniors today. I do believe that's the biggest graduating class we've ever had.

My son does at 16. His backup is to be a Chef. He's a good cook!

That IS big. We had just over 700 in 1970.

I never had a back up plan but only because I decided I wanted to be a veterinarian in preschool and never wavered from it. I guess it never occurred to me that I might not get in to vet school.

My back up plans were/are more so I am not trapped or going to be stuck - not so much because I did not think I could do something.
I did change my mind a few times - usually after finding out more about something or trying it in some way etc. Sometimes my idea about what a something did and what it really did - failed to match up in a way that was not conducive to my idea of how I wanted to live.

Hi, couch.

I am home from CVS and caught up on the couch.

CVS was fairly busy tonight (until about 9pm, to which I moved to inventory tasks). I found out "why" I am being moved into the assistant inventory tech (fake) title. The pharm that came in for the overnight shift tonight said that our lead inventory tech gave her 2 weeks notice, so the pharm manager is training 2 people (one day, one night) to do teh inventory tasks once the other tech leaves.

The schedules were finally posted. What did my absent-minded pharm manager do?!? Scheduled me for during the day on both upcoming Mondays. I had requested to leave Mondays during the day open for my appointments. I have T next week and pdoc the following week, but I am scheduled to work while I have the appointment. I tried to swap shifts with someone, but no one wanted to trade with me because they liked their shift better. So, now, I guess I have to call T and pdoc tomorrow to try to reschedule. pdoc may be able to as they will double book in certain cases, so hopefully they will this time. T though I am worried about. Shs is really booked usually. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she has a cancellation that fits my work schedule. I hate my luck. Of course if the schedule would have been posted on time, I would have had 2-3 weeeks to figure something out, but now I have less than one. Grrrrrrr.....

I guess I could always tell the pham manager that I can't work and remind him that I requested off on Mondays during the day, but with the one tech leaving and others going on vacation, we are short staffed. I just don't know what to do.

Talk to the manager Squirrel and get your time off - you gave them plenty of notice that you needed that time. Your health is more important than the pharmacy, short staff or no. My T would call it advocating for yourself

I had a back-up plan that I've reverted to a few times.
It's called having a baby.

Morning, couch.

Well, I called T's office this morning (before logging on here and seeing JS's post). She had an opening for this Friday, so I changed Monday's appointment. It worked out.

Also called pdoc's office, but they didn't answer, so I left a message. Waiting for them to call me back. Hopefully, they can change too. If not, at least that one is still 2 weeks away, so the pharm manager would have time to readjust the schedule.
Thanks for this!

Well, pdoc's office just called back. They had an opening for Tuesday the same week as my original appointment, so I rescheduled. It all worked out.

Now just to remind pharm manager to leave my Monday's during the day open (I could work nights, so it's not lke I am not available at all) so I have one day I can make appointments on without having it clash with the work schedule. I already have all my T appointments for the entire summer scheduled, so maybe I should give exact dates. I just wouldn't know pdoc's in advance (other than when I make it at my appointment).

I also have one day in July I can't work at all. I already told him, but maybe I should remind him. I have an appointment out of town and don't know when I will get back with traffic and everything. I definitely need that day off.

Absent-minded manager. He means well, but just very forgetful sometimes.

Give it to him in writing now, Squirrel, and another written reminder two weeks before the date you need off in July.
Thanks for this!

Still reeling from "life" and DD1's revelation last week. I think my feet are touching the ground, but where did my mind float off to?

Hope you're all having a better day!

Working from home today because respite provider no-call no-showed. Apparently she told the agency that she needed more hours and bailed. WTF! School just got out last week. Disappear right when there's going to be more hours. Argh! I (finally) got a text from her saying that she thought the agency informed me. Whatever, I've been trying to contact you since Sunday. I have enough sh^t going on in my life without that bs.
The seven year old had gotten quite attached to her too, now she's upset at me that she's gone.
And I'm getting feck all work done here...

Afternoon, couch.

It's pouring down rain here. Guess, I am stuck inside. Maybe I could clean. Lol. What else is there to do. I'm not big on TV anymore, working 2 jobs during the school year didn't give me time to watch it really (and before that a job and night school didn't). I'm sure I am not missing much. I will watch it occassionally when I am off if it is on in the living room (M-A is watching) and I am waiting for food to cook, but that is about it anymore. I am shocked...I went from watching about 7 hours a day to almost none. *shrug*

Well, I SHOUD try to clean since I am off and locked inside right now due to the rain. I also need to do laundry.
