Is there some sort of Mental Health Association in your community? Perhaps someone from there can provide you some advocacy. So too they might have a referral system to or be able to recommend another mental health care provider. Is your family doctor able to write your scripts in the interim?

he gave authorization for two months. Which means she can get refills for two months. After that op needs to find new doc. Termination only happened yesterday or today and op already contacting for refills. Not two months later. Maybe several of us didn't understand it right Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

He said he will mail it to you or arrange through pharmacy. Does he have a receptionist? Or office? Deal with them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

weren't you terminated in january? If not, i apologize for not understanding. Did he send you another termination letter? It is now the end of May.

I'm sorry your dealing with this, it must be very difficult. I don't know you're background but I hope you find another therapist or doctor that will treat you well and give you the help you deserve.

He's not responding to you because he stated the plan in his letter. He wasn't nice, but he was very clear - he will provide you with two months of meds, either by mail or by sending it electronically to the pharmacy. If you find the pharmacy has not received anything yet then I would talk to his office staff - they are the ones who see these things through. Is there an agency near you that could help set you up with the providers you need? I understand his position although I think he's being childish and borderline unethical in not somehow assisting you with finding a new provider. There is shortage of psychiatrists and 2 months may not be enough time to find a new one. I'm sorry you have to experience this stress, I know it must be very painful.

He terminated in January but then continued it but with set of rules OP had to follow ( like limit outside contact efc), he then terminated in May because she didn't follow the rules. I see it as prolonging her pain rather than ending in January . He also had to be more clear that he is her doc sad he will not provide therapy. Rather than refusing to provide in convoluted and passive aggressive way Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

He is a total asshole who should not be practicing. To me it's as simple as that. I am so disgusted with his letter that I don't want to add anything. I am so sorry you had to go through this. Don't think for a second that you did anything wrong and that your problems, whatever they may be, are to blame for this outcome. Also, don't listen to anyone who validates this peace of **** and his actions. The last thing you need to hear right now is someone validating his wrongful actions that harmed you. It's re-abuse and victim blaming, plain and simple, whether it's intentional or not. Take care of yourself and commit to your healing. Best of luck.

I was thinking of a comment he made one time. When talking about mood stabilizers, he said that some could cause me to lactate and then he said, "then I can milk myself". I felt uncomfortable with that comment.

Hopefully the continued distance will help you gain perspective about how he truly handled working with you, and hopefully with that perspective you will find some acceptance and healing, and of course, more competent and capable therapists and/or pdocs who will truly be able to help you move forward.

BTW, a suggestion for the OP. A Yelp review is an easy way for the client who has been harmed, exploited, mistreated, or just had a bad experience... AND has been silenced by the T, to speak out. Especially in this case, where the T has issued a demeaning and shaming judgement and ruling, and refuses to discuss it. Go to Yelp and voila you have a voice. Can give him the feedback and assessment that he sorely needs, but clearly will not solicit. It's a great equalizer. |

I'm hurting so bad. I want to get over this so much. I don't feel like doing anything. I'm hurting so badly. My heart is in pain. I can't stop crying.
I remember one time when he treated me special and when I was upset, he would hold me and sometimes stroke my hair. |

Good for you - but I'm surprised you were able to do it that fast. Normally complaints require extensive amounts of paperwork, just to discourage clients from making them. Does your state actually make complaints easy for clients?
I'm also curious as to what the basis of your complaint was. The only concrete, provable thing that might stick seems to be the lack of referral after termination. Everything else he can just deny or blame on you. |

I'm glad you got that process rolling. It will take some time, but if that is what you need to do to help you along your journey of healing, then I hope that process accomplishes what you hope it will.

GOOD FOR YOU!!! This so-called "man" is dangerously disturbed. Such a brilliant move in getting the ball rolling in reporting him to the state licensing board. In doing this, you are not only attempting to save others from this creeps cruelty, you are speaking out against him and sending him the message that he was so very, very wrong with what he did to you and that you are not ok with it. You also played a crucial role in inspiring other clients that have or had been tolerating abuse from a therapist to take action.
I hope you feel empowered by all of this. It took a lot of strength and courage just to make that initial phone call to the board. I know you are in a world of pain right now but I encourage you to ask that pain to step aside so that you can look to see the good in you and find inner peace. You are a warrior! |

Good for you, HopeAlways!
I learned, a successful case is not based on whether you are right and he is wrong. It is based on what you can prove. |

That's quick! And today is Memorial Day and everything is closed. I hope you could it online. What evidence did they ask for? I hope you kept emails and texts. Since he is a psychiatrist not a t, would it be a different board? I think being busy with collecting evidence will take your mind of him and help you focus

Formal complaint to licensing boards seems yet another area of the biz where only the overt and obvious transgressions are considered relevant. If your therapy was truly harmful in an insidious way, but not in a way the board chooses to recognize, doesn't count. It's also potentially, like therapy itself, an opportunity to have your power taken away. Once again, a mental health professional will interpret your story and decide what it means.
At least with Yelp, the client has absolute power (provided they don't go hog wild). No interference from professionals, no proof needed, no bureaucracy. The client gets to speak on their own terms. Take back some power by publicly evaluating and analyzing therapist and therapy. |
