I will not be tamed.

I see us more as the tightwire versus trapeze artists

Personally, I find Granite quite valuable and choose to encourage her to stand up for her own needs where she can.
I don't doubt that. But - bolded part - and yeah I debate this with my t too - the game doesn't seem worth the candle even to talk about these things with the family. You get your hopes up, you think things are different, but they never are. They "hear" you, but their ideas about you are set in stone. They have to be, or else they would have to question their whole life. Which I've just spent a lifetime doing. I can't get my hopes up again.

Is politicking inside polling stations - which here includes not just speaking, but passing out literature and wearing pins or shirts supporting a candidate or proposal - allowed in the UK? Here they have to stay something like 100 feet distant from the front door. Voters theoretically can't wear a shirt or pin supporting someone inside the station.

I'm curious after seeing several pictures of voters in the UK wearing clothes that support one side or the other inside a polling station.

If you're voting, you can wear whatever you like to the polling station. You can only go in and vote though, then you leave.
If you're working at the polling station you can't show favour to any side.
Y'know, we can do what we like in the UK...except maybe stay part of our continent

at this point there is no way i can say no . i know i am a weak person and its ok if people see me this way it is who i am . but i am working on it. it takes time and this isnt going to be that time . they dont know i am in therapy .if they did all hell would break loos they would do whatever they could to stop this . if i told them no i would need to explain and i cant deal with that now. it is easier to miss a session even though i feel horrible about it then to explain or lie. and of all the family members my step mother is the only person left that still gives me the slightest hope of having any kind of family member who doesnt publicaly humiliate me and state how much im a disappointment to everyone . i know im weak but i cant do this yet

Granite, you're not weak. To bear what your family puts and has put you through requires enormous strength.

I'm optimistic from those I have spoken to. More seem in favour of staying than leaving, though some have surprised me. Leaving is a scary prospect.

I have maybe 100 British FB friends and I don't think I've seen a single one argue in favour of leaving. But I know it is an extremely skewed sample of the pop.

Hoping for the best. The prospect of you leaving is rather scary for the rest of us, too.

Just got gypped for a few hundred bucks while trying to buy a car.

The only thing my fragile ego is holding on to by a fine thread is the fact that the @#@# salesman was "honest" enough to say straight off the bat that he was adding a ridiculous fee ("environmental protection package") only because he would make very little money off of me otherwise (since I'd walked in with a price guarantee for a specific car and financing and interest rate already set up) and not because that stuff actually makes a difference to the car. Of course, a part of me is sure that was all part of the sales pitch as well.

Really pissed at myself for being so weak and not walking out -- have only myself to blame that I left the whole buying process to the last minute and had time only today to buy it. So, doubt I could've staged a grand exit while fuming without screwing myself over. Argh.

Oh well....now the car is "environmentally protected" I suppose (apparently tree sap is the ultimate bogeyman for these things).

These safety videos had me rolling on the floor with laughter - trigger warning for train/stick figure crashes. They only involve stick figures and are not gory or anything.

These Transit Safety Videos Are So Gruesome They Just Might Work

If I knew how to do the animation, I would make some of these for client/therapist interactions.

I like the video in the comment section--Dumb Ways to Die. It's got a catchy tune.
