Evening couch.
Well last night, pharm manager asked when I wanted to take my vacation time. I said whenever would be convienent for him. He said the 3rd week in July, so I put the request into the store manager who authorizes those things. I get to work today and pharm manager says he is really struggling with the schedule he is currently making (2nd week of July) and asks if I would take my vacation that week instead or only work 7 hours that week. I said sure change my vacation week because I was flexible. Then before I left, U thought that since he originally said the 3rd week that he would have very few hours to allocate again and I have 60 hours of vacation to use before the end of the year, so I asked if he wanted me to go on vacation both weeks. He asked if I had enough hours to do that. I confirmed I did. He then told me I was employee of the month for offering that because it would help tremendously. So now I am going to be bored for 2 weeks straight with no CVS, but still get paid for sitting at home. I won't know what to do with my time. Lol. I get to be back at CVS tomorrow at 7am for inventory stuff. I was supposed to be off at 8pm tonight, but a coworker wanted to leave early, so I covered her last 2 hours and worked till 10pm. Hey I'll take the hours. It was just pharm manager and me from 8-10, but we survived. I work a split tomorrow, man am I too flexible and agreeable. I go in from 7-9 for inventory prep stuff. Then go back 4-6 for the actual inventory tasks. I am nuts... in a quirky way. |

V - post hoc isn't propter hoc. Meaning, just because something happens after something else, doesn't mean that the earlier event causes the latter. I seriously doubt that 5-6 months of no exercise and poor diet might have brought on prediabetes. And fault? Forget it. The human body is an incredibly fragile organism. Something is wrong with each of us, whether we know it or not. We don't blame people for getting cancer, why blame them for other conditions? Some of us are predisposed towards diabetes, or cardiac disease, or high blood pressure. That's just doctor-shaming, and it's totally unhelpful. |

Just got back from my swim. The water felt divine tonight!! I swam laps for a bit and then sat in the hot tub for a bit, and did some good thinking, came home and wrote out what I was thinking about, and now I'm feeling relaxed and warm and happy. No more tears for now anyway.

I'm not talking about your doctor specifically, but doctors in general. Making the patient feel that a health problem is their fault is pretty standard in my experience. What else could explain it? Genetic predisposition to high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes? Stressors in your life? Just for starters. I just do not see the point of assigning fault. I mean, you could take away from this you need to exercise more, OK. But why the self-pummeling? Curse my mother. I cannot get back to sleep. |

I should go to bed. Need to get up early and get started on my last assignment so I can take the final tomorrow too. Seems like I just started this online class and it's ending already! Maybe if I get up early enough I can get a chunk of it done before h wakes up and wants to go to breakfast - tomorrow already feels like an IHOP kind of day!
Night couchies. I feel like I'm home again so will probably be sticking around for awhile iffn y'all will have me! |

Just the stress on your body from the kidney treatment? All the literature i have on diabetes (which i kind of have - my numbers go up and down) say that when you are stressed, or get too hot, or have a cold or other illness, that it will mess up your blood sugar. But yeah, its a metabolic thing - your liver is probably not too happy right now either. Water, water, water! So easy to say, so hard to do - except when i have pain. Then i do enough to alleviate the pain, then my self-flagellation starts up again. Fml.

For the blood pressure, I think it's the top number that's the "white coat" number, that is affected by anxiety. So if that one was much higher and the bottom one was about the same as before, likely just anxiety/stress. Do you know what your family history is for blood pressure? H is in pretty good shape, exercises regularly, but is right at the borderline for high BP because of his family history--pretty much everyone in his family has to go on BP medication (H has avoided it so far, but barely). So it could be genetics. |
