So I went swimming earlier and I guess it wore me out because I fell asleep on the couch... son just came home from friend's house and woke me up to give me a birthday card! And in it was gift card to JoAnn (craft store that I love because it's a wonderland of yarn!) Such a nice surprise. Then, I just checked my email, and t sent a birthday wish. Another surprise! First time she's acknowledged my birthday outside of a session. Not sure what to make of that, so I'm not going to overthink it and just gonna be happy. All in all I'd have to say it's been a great birthday!

Xanax is not helping my boy. I even upped the dosage and it is not helping.
And people wonder why I don't put much faith in pharmaceutical companies.

I'm sorry the xanax isn't helping him, SD. One of my friends with dogs said she plays music and turns the tv up really loud both to try to block out the fireworks for her pups. They're scary enough for some of us and we know what they are, for the animals they must feel like the world is ending. So scary for them. One of my cats is hiding under the bed again.

He is drugged, the tv is on in two rooms much louder than usual and I am running the dishwasher and he is still shaking and panting and pacing
My neighbors are shooting off right in the back yard next to me, across the street and all over the neighborhood- so there is really only so much drowning out to be done.

The fireworks are starting in earnest here now. Holy cow. I think my neighbor has M-80's or something.... I guess I won't be going to bed early after all.

Jimmies are a New England thing. I'm from the non-New England Northeast and was quite baffled by the Jimmie phenomenon when I moved to Boston many years back.

I grew up in bumblef*** nowhere Pennsylvania, for us jimmies and sprinkles were two totally different toppings-- sprinkles were the hard little rainbow balls, and jimmies were the long, skinny, softer ones that were usually either rainbow or chocolate.

That's odd, because in Philadelphia when I was there they were interchangeable. I do know some people say sprinkles are when you use them for baking and jimmies are when you use them on ice cream.

If una's around, we could work in the great soda vs. pop debate!

I just got home from the concert. Totally frazzled. Loud noises and this other musician I've had issues with in the past in terms of dating intent, following me around everywhere and trying to get me to tell him if I'm going to be around the rest of the summer. I kept saying idk. I couldn't get away from him. Every freaking break I'd find a hidden spot for myself, and then suddenly there would be his stupid face. His lips quiver when he talks. Gross.

I want to put in earplugs to drown out the firecrackers in the street but then I won't be able to swallow my beer comfortably, ehn.

Pennsylvania is a trove of weird linguistic diversity.

I spent my early childhood near Philly and yes, they were used interchangeably-- but when I moved more toward the west they became differentiated. I remember being taught this by the neighbor kids when I moved in.

But it's soda!!!! Non negotiable.
