Welcome to the couch, old and new! A place to hang out - sometimes you get immediate feedback, sometimes you don't.

Shouting, "Cool Whip" tends to bring others out from between the cushions if you're feeling lonely.

This is a chatty thread. All are welcome. We're kind of psychologically oriented, sometimes. We try to be supportive. At times we discuss what that means.

It’s a place to plop down on the couch when you come home from work or wherever, or wake up in the middle of the night, or check in at lunch, rant a bit or not, and be among friends.

We advise you not to drink or drug and text your therapist ("T") - we speak from experience...

Sometimes the thread moves fast and you might get overlooked; sometimes it moves slowly and all you hear are crickets. Sometimes you get hugged or thanked pages later. So if it's a bigger question, you might want to start a new thread.

Grab a cushion, a spot on the floor, or an armchair in the corner (or with us) and make yourselves comfy!
Thanks for this!

After multiple attempts at naming the couch (including a wind-related one, which I realized was insensitive due to the recent hurricanes, or an E. coli-related one, which can be deadly), we have Couch 157: Fair Value, named for: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SFAS_157

My apologies for not going with the emirp...

And I now know entirely too much about the number 157...

Phew, the ballet class I signed up for was canceled. Now I don’t have to worry about Info wanting to show up at a recital.

I just got some new wool slippers - glerups I think they are called. These don't make my bare feet itch like some boiled wool slippers do. So far a successful slipper endeavor.

ATAT, so often when I read your username, I hear Ella singing,
"A-tisket A-tasket
I lost my yellow basket
And if the girlie don't return it
Don't know know what I'll do"

So now I am listening to Ella Fitzgerald. She's moved on to Blue Skies, scatting away.

i want to talk to someone but i feel guilty for thinking something is a problem that other people only wish they had... i think instead of bothering y'all about this i should just go to bed and make sure i kick this strep throat stuff. i'm feeling a lot better physically anyway. maybe i'll just sleep on the t stuff. night couchies. and hugs/headnods around.

Legally changing your name is a pain in the **** (and expensive...$450 per person) if you don't do it when getting married or divorced! My stupid H waited all these years to change his last name to his mother's maiden name (his dad walked out on him when he was a baby). Now since we both want his mother's maiden name, we have to go through the court. We have to publish our name change in a newspaper for 4 weeks and then have a hearing! My anxiety is through the roof! We just filed the paperwork today. Not fun. Tomorrow... contact the newspaper. Oh, and they were so nice and set our court date for December 26th.

To answer your poll, I usually take what's useful and leave the rest.
Yes, Waking the Tiger is what I'm currently reading:

'If we feel inclined to focus on memories (even if they are basically accurate), it is important to understand that this choice will impair our ability to move out of our traumatic reactions.' (Waking the Tiger, p.216)

There is little inclination on my part...I free fall whether I want to or not.

We had a discussion at work yesterday, who do we contact to cancel daylight saving time? I've been waking up at 5-ish am every stinking day this week because my brain still thinks it's 6-ish am. I'm not coherent or productive at 5 am! Wonder how long it takes to recalibrate?

Thanks for the new couch LT!

I had to ask, how does it feel to have studied law for years, only to turn around and break it? Arrogance at it's best.

What an example they set!!

You can see some details in "dear t" and "in session today"...
I feel awful after seeing T and miss him already, as usual. But I don't want to see him again. Well, I do want, but I don't want.

Hugs. I hope you don't cancel.

I don't think anything changed for your T capt. I think it's just another way to say the same thing he has already said - that he cares deeply about you, even if maybe not in the same way he cares about a family member.

New pdoc was smart. She asked which body parts I hadn't hurt instead of which ones I've hurt myself at.

I think it's a brilliant way to ask! I'm glad you have her. She's definitely better than your former pdoc.

I think his words about love were false. This is so painful.

Hi to everyone...

I am doing well. Seeing more possibilities.... I am spending time with this person I met and it seems like it could turn into something really good. I played with Maestro Genuine Exuberance last weekend, stashed my pride up my rectum, and thrashed about like a complete twat. He shook my hand and congratulated me on my "stunning and consummate musicality." :eye-roll: So there's that.
