(((ARTIE))) I am betting its nothing you did. More likely other family visited and took advantage of them.

Im detecting a pattern here, your brother and mine. They have no clue how to deal with independent women. Setting rules? Youre not a child! But you pee sitting down, so youre not a regular guy, gee i dunno WHAT you are...
Thanks for this!

The tip of my nose has been going numb the past few days and it's driving me nuts. I wonder if it's a reaction to the prednisone I take for my eye.

Is it eye drops? Do you feel it draining thru your sinuses? I think that stuff is all connected back there. Thats my technical opinion

My mother: "God is there for you".

She's also convinced that I have a special hotline to God (former T thought my mother was afraid of me because of the hotline) -- don't ask, long story(ies, actually).

Yes. And, before the nose numbing, I told my eye doc that I get a horrible metalic taste in my mouth from the drops and he said the same thing--it's all related. I have about 2 more months of this treatment, but if any more of my face goes numb, I'm going off this stuff.

I would totally use that advantage if I were you. My mother co-opted the god hotline for herself.

Ugh, I'm sorry, Art. That sucks.

Piaf...well, she doesn’t actually look like Edith Piaf anymore, because her website picture is clearly 15+ years out of date. She now looks more like a myopic nun wearing an ugly Christmas sweater. If I wanted the total opposite of Info, I’ve found it in Piaf.

Soon as we’re in her office, she hands me a folder with a list of emergency numbers, her business card, including a quote from Shakespeare (Hamlet, even!), a pen, and a legal pad. In case I want to take notes. Because “I like to be practical.” (She said this several times during the session.)

She had the presence of mind without being asked to turn off her white noise machine so I could hear. She has a faint accent, but I can deal with it.

To my embarrassment I started crying when I told her about the surgery when the ventilator broke. So apparently that’s still an issue. Especially since I didn’t cry at anything else.

Then there was this exchange, which made me laugh:

Piaf: But now things are starting to get better.
ATAT: One would hope.
Piaf: Well, yes, one would, wouldn’t one?

Anyway. I have another appointment in two weeks.

This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man.

Which after the first line is a bit of an odd choice.

Ah, true. My second choice was --

How about—

I am but mad north-northwest. When the wind is southerly, I know a hawk from a handsaw.

I mean, knowing a hawk from a handsaw is eminently practical. As Piaf likes to be.

I would go more with " out Damned spot" or "Screw your courage to the sticking place". I think therapists would find out a lot about a person if they asked clients what shakespeare quotes most reminded them of therapy.
I would think the way to approach someone who said "My daughter, oh my ducats..." would be very different from someone who chose "What's past is prologue" or "There is no evil angel but love" from "But, O, how bitter a thing it is to look into happiness through another man's eyes"

If we have threads about songs and therapy, why not Shakespeare quotes and therapy?

I’ll go with “The evil that men do lives after them, The good is oft interred with their bones.”

So the new antidepressant—Pristiq—has square pills, which is cool. So far it’s done nothing to help (yeah, early days) but has killed my appetite and given me a major headache.

Newsflash: Seventh Generation laundry pods do not disintegrate in the washing machine. Not like that's super irritating or anything.

I am totally calling them tomorrow during regular business hours to let them know of my disappointment in their (expensive) product.

I swear I have tried that (because I have tried pretty much everything). I wish I remember what the side effects were. I used to keep a log, but now I am not sure where it is.
I could live with the appetite killing (although not if I worked out like you do!), but headaches would be a no-go.
