not sure this post belongs here.. or where it belongs but maybe its fitting. Today i just feel like no one cares. I'm not sure if I can keep reaching out like this b/c when i do, I dont get what i need sometimes :-( and where do you go then? At least imagining someones response and not trying feels better then when you try and its not there.
so.. i think. its gotta be me. Other people get what they need when they reach out. so I'll ask you all. What am I doing wrong (or maybe stated in a more positive way.. what can i do better?) |

The only chance of ever getting for real what we want and need is to ask for it, to make friends with people who are available (like good T's) and who can give us what we want when we ask for it, and sometimes read our minds :-) when we can't or are afraid to ask. Too, getting to know ourselves and how good we can be for ourselves helps too. All our lives we've been giving to ourselves, been meeting our needs, that's why we are still here :-) The problem is we don't give ourselves enough credit, don't rely on ourselves very much, think good things only come from "others". Look how resourceful and caring you are for yourself, coming here and posting this, intuitively knowing we'll be here for you and love/care about you. You are there for yourself, 24/7! Thank yourself ![]()

I understand how you feel when you say you reach out and sometimes do not get what you expected- what you needed. You imagine that if you reach out, the person will react a certain way - when they don't it's heart wrenching.
Where do you go then? I bring it up to the person. If it was my roommate, or my therapist - I tell them you know when I said "this", "this" is what I needed. Then they either 1. Tell me they're sorry and give "it" to me. or 2. tell me why "it" isn't possible but find some way to make me be ok with it. Sometimes you need to be very clear with what you are expecting and what you need at the moment. There are times I've had to say "I need you to hug me right now" or "I need you to tell me you love me if you do". |

esthersvirtue, I sometimes feel the same way. Today, I just felt like I needed attention---in a positive way. Sometimes it is hard to keep reaching out...its even harder for me to accept the support people have to offer.
Know that I am thinking of you.

I'm sorry you aren't receiving the support you need at this time. ((((esthersvirtue)))) You have been a long time member here and have been so supportive in the past, it's a shame that you feel you can't get that in return now.

Sorry for the meltdown. I'm very lost right now. I hope to try to get back on track. I have therapy tomorrow. I'm very worried. :-( because I know how much I need right now and I cant imagine anyone able to help me in any way in 50 minutes. |
