I had a pretty intense therapy session on Tuesday, and I think it's just now starting to really hit me. I am all for emotional breakthroughs and progress and all of that, but I when I walked in the door from work today it just felt like my eyes started leaking.

It is opening night for my kid's show (children's theater), and I am volunteering backstage, so I am going upstairs to try to make my face look like I haven't been crying off and on all afternoon. It's a fun show and lots of good energy, so it's probably for the best that there's something pulling me out into the "real world," but sheesh. Here's hoping I can switch gears quickly. Wish me luck.

Yeah, pearsall. Anthony perkins played him in the movie, and karl malden played his dad. Great movie.

I read the wiki, Kirk ended up doing pretty well for himself! He was kind of a douche when he was here. He really reminded me of the first mr luna. Wiki says he has parkinsons now. Thanks for the info, you changed my mind about him.

My current T wants me to see someone in the area where my mom lives while I'm down there visiting her over the summer. My former T from when I was in college closed his office practice so he wasn't available for me. I got an appointment with a psychologist who taught my undergrad class in psychological testing. I can't get in to see him until the day after Memorial Day so I how I can make it to then. Leaving for Mom's on May 9. Anxious to just get on the road already!

I just tried to do a poll, and i don't know how any of you (mainly:SD) do it! I am curious about something, but am not sure how to make it poll-worthy.

Are you wondering about crafting the question, the physical how to do it on the forum (what buttons to mash), or something else?

I just found two more yellow jackets in my living room. I can't tell you how scared I am of these things. There's really no way to kill them because they're perched on my window blinds. I could try to open the window and hope they leave, but what if more come in. Big huge UGH! The stings from these things are so painful.

And now I feel super lonely because there's no one here to help me.

Ack. I hate them and they're aggressive. Can you get to a store that sells wasp spray? That would be the safest way to kill them. If you have a fireplace, they may be building a nest in the chimney. Or in a roof vent, or in an attic. I'd call a pest company to check it out because that's a nest you don't want to mess with.

(((NP))) im pretty sure theres a Raid for flying insects, that might do it. But maybe you need to call a bug guy. That so many are getting into the house sounds like they have a nest nearby. Not to freak you out or anything, but ya know.

Ah, J.... (this was 'our' song all those many years ago! I sing it with fondness now.) T brought her up yesterday evening in the midst of our discussion about my er... feelings about T. It was an uncomfortable conversation but I stayed very present for it and she was pretty amazed by that, I'm fairly certain the only reason I was so calm and 'in my body' was precisely because she mentioned J... since when I think about J, I go into a very calm place in my heart. The memory of our summer together in 1986 I experience with nothing but fondness and a contented sigh. Every time I hear this song, I feel it.

I don't know what just made me share that right now.

I'm so sorry. I hate those things too. I think they make a bug spray specifically for flying/stinging creatures. I wish I could send my son over to squash them for you.

So I just submitted my last discussion post for Positive Psych. I just realized that if I wanted to, I could take my final exam tomorrow and be done with school until my summer class starts on 5/30. Suddenly I am loving the idea of a month off from textbook reading and paper writing! Spring Fever, I suppose....

I've made a grave mistake. I've been doing training at work this week on a restraint system that our school district uses. Today is the last day, and we're having to do the physical portion of the training. The trainer is a friend of mine, so he's been using me a lot to demonstrate holds and restraints.

This is awful. I want to cry.

The second one just retired although is still doing what she calls expressive arts and wellness but not psychotherapy. She could not describe the difference to me, but got slightly huffy when I pointed it out. She went on a bit about licensing and I said I did not think a therapist license meant anything at all. She seems to think higher of her (now old) profession than I do.
Then she told me I had damned her with faint praise. I do wish I could remember what I said.

More about crafting the question...okay, so my question is how people's body language/non-verbal actions are in the therapy room. My T tells me she doesn't have any other client who hides under a pillow week after week and makes no eye contact. She doesnt' say it in a judge-y way, just more an observation.

Except...I dont know how to make the choices. I was thinking along the lines of eye contact, but I also want to know if people sit close or far away from their T. If they face their T, sit up straight...etc.

See what I mean? Egads!
Thanks for this!
