Couch 179: Even-numbered days in a year

Dooooo it! Without giving spoilers the theme does get darker as the movies go on.

I'm going to play number 6 in a bit. I have two more days until school starts on monday and I'm honestly bored and just don't know what to do with myself to the point I'm looking forward to my 8am lecture. xD

You have to fill out a bunch of legal papers. Thankfully for the renewal you don't have to detail the abuse like I did for the original one. Then you have to be at the DV agency by 9am so they can review your papers. Last year I had to watch a video with a judge explaining what qualifies you for the restraining order and he tells how the respondent may not be able to rent an apartment if he has an order on his record so think carefully before you do it. They take your papers to the court. Court is after lunch. Each person comes up when your name is called and you have to swear an oath and the judge asks you questions. After everyone has been seen you wait around a while more to get the official copies of the order. Then last year I had to go to the sheriff's office so they could serve him with the order. This year I don't know how I will arrange to serve him the papers because his prison is not in this county and it's across the state. Maybe I can mail them to the prison. I'll have to ask.

The process for all intents and purposes takes your entire day though most of it is just waiting around. It's kind of a pain. I took the day off work to do it.

My state only does yearly ones. It would be nice if you could get a longer one so I don't have to revisit the emotional turmoil and pain every year.

That's the best reason to keep staying in!

Emailed therapist to ask for a phone call. This process has brought up a lot of feelings for me. My eyes hurt from crying today.

My PI was happy with and impressed by the results I presented in lab meeting today and I feel good about way I explained the background of my project for the new undergrad during the meeting. It's a good feeling. I was really worried about screwing everything up coming back from my leave of absence.

Therapy in 3 hours. Not feeling as good about that. I'm glad because I really need to deal with some stuff, but I'm also not looking forward to having to feel and deal with the emotions b

They are, indeed. Apparently they were invented as a way to use up all of the egg yolks left over from the massive amounts of egg-white-utilizing meringues that Portuguese folk make.

So h and I are up north a bit, almost to casino. We spent a couple hours this morning at the science center, watched a planetarium show, cool. H has a poker tournament tonite, I have club dancin' woo! We had a good conversation in the car on the way up.
