Couch 179: Even-numbered days in a year

I thought of stopdog when Professor Ford said her therapist had written the wrong details in her notes, that she'd said there were at least four other people in the house, not that four people attacked her. It's a good reason for people to regularly request their notes and double check what's in there.

what are you people on about?? lol i recognize nothing of this Leahy, Ford, somebody pouting, the fbi needing to investigate....

I know! I thought of PC too! I cracked up when somebody (Ford?) said, "well, ts record process, not product" or something like that.

interesting, very woo woo session this evening that i'm still trying to wrap my head around. it wasn't bad by any stretch, i don't mean that. just, different. I won't go into all the details because well, very woo woo. something neither one of us expected, happened while she was drumming for me... it was just intended to be a quick 4-5 minutes of drumming just to bring me fully into the room after working all day because it relaxes me and we got something else entirely. We talked about it for a bit, then I told her some other stuff, then she asked if i wanted to get back to the first thing and have her drum a little longer and I really did so i said yes, kicked off my shoes and made myself at home haha and laid down on the couch. I don't know how long she drummed but it must have been a good 20-25 minutes because when she stopped and I sat up it was 5:50pm!! i was like damn where did my session go?! I really should tell her that her drumming technique has way improved lately. We talked a little more about stuff and then confirmed next week, hugged and I left. Kind of a blur of a session from my conscious brain missing half of it while she drummed!!!

I do not pull legs. I also do not follow politics. I really did not know....

There was so much packed into my therapy session today that I am still rolling it over in my head.

I came home and put on my mom face because all of my boys were home and wanted to tell me things, so I listened to boy talk about video games and computer parts and schoolwork until they were done talking and went to their evening activities.

Then I just couldn't even. So I sat in the sun for an hour and didn't.

Now I'm making Chicken in Coconut Milk with Lemongrass without the lemongrass and trying to deal with therapy aftermath before they get home.

If you could find out why your senator jeff flakes nose does that, i would appreciate it. Its like an eagles nose, but it swoops to the side. His whole face kinda swirls. Its very interesting. I could look at it forever. Hes my mona lisa.

Plus therapy made me think about how my dad wasn't really around a lot when I was a teenager, which made me think about him, so I called him and we had a lovely conversation about our gardens and camping and the white wooden rowboat we had when I was growing up.

So there's that.

I don't even know who that is....

....as I slink back into my internal woo woo cave. I'm way tired from my session. Can't really call it a therapy hangover cuz it's not the same as that. Going to bed early and then tomorrow morning h and I are heading up north again for the weekend (they offered him 2 more free nights). Artie is going dancing again tomorrow night in the club oh yes she is... can't wait!

oh yeah my car. they found that the alarm system the previous owner installed was somehow interfering with the electrical system so they took the alarm system out. i don't need it, the car isn't worth enough to worry about. i might've already told y'all that i forget. they also found a leaking valve cover gasket in the engine and they're fixing that too. i don't think we're going to be putting too much more money into this car - i'm going to be working at home hopefully within a month or so and then I'll be using it a lot less (just to go to therapy however much longer I go, I still have not committed to beyond October) or to a drumming circle now & again so I'll just drive it til it craps out.

Does your family know you're in therapy? Would it be possible to tell the kids when you get home on X day you need some time to yourself and that you'll be free by X time. One of my favorite interviews with Jada Smith was when she told her daughter that she needed to also put herself first and make sure she took care of herself before trying to help everyone else.

I feel like I'm being overly dramatic by renewing this restraining order. I'm basically saying I'm still scared of you. And it seems ridiculous at this point. I guess we should have talked about this more in sessions.

At this point, I think you are wise, absolutely reasonable, and certainly justified in renewing the order. It seems like a good way to set a clear boundary about contact and safety.

What does renewing involve? Do you have to jump through a whole lot of hoops?

Aw, thanks Lemon. The chicken was fabulous.

The boys know I see a therapist. It’s just so different now that they are teens...they are so busy, and they have their friends and each other to hang out with and talk to, so I try to be available (within reasonable limits) when they want to talk with me. They’ve got such a great energy that it helps to connect with them anyway.

And you’re so right that modeling good self care is important. T and I talked about that a couple weeks ago.

For what it's worth, I don't think you're being dramatic at all with this. If it were me, I'd probably get restraining orders for the rest of my life!

Seeing T for extra session at 11:30 today...feel free to ride along in my pocket.

I think I've given up the idea that I'm going to do anything productive today. I've already watched the 5th harry potter movie and just got back in bed with a giant bar of Cadbury fruit and nut chocolate, which I'm not impressed with. Firstly there's not enough nuts and I just realized they've been switched from hazelnuts to almonds!!!!

It's always been almonds in fruit and nut and hazelnut in whole nut. Hugs, I'm not being productive today either.

(((Lemoncake))) i've seen only part of the first harry potter movie and none of the others. i started watching the first one recently again but i was too tired to stay awake.... i was enjoying though until i fell asleep! i'm going to try watching them again!

Really?!

It's going to sound awful, but I guess I never noticed before. I'm glad I got it on sale though, and I think the novelty of Jelly Belly beans has also worn off.
