My first girl cat Beauty was like this, shy and skittish. I just left her alone to hide where she wanted to hide when she was being fearful and fretful.

How much room do you have where you live? Is moving new kitty to a different room an option, or swapping rooms with your sister and moving your other kitty to a different room?

Maybe try and show Amelia alternative hiding spots, so maybe a dark cupboard or give her a big box, turn it on its side and line it with something comfy.

Thanks for the suggestions. Problem is my first kitty is used to sleeping with me so even if I swapped rooms, first kitty would be coming with me and currently I'm keeping first kitty and second kitty apart. I tried introducing them yesterday but it was too soon and so I have to accept that. I don't have a laundry room, or other free room that has a door so the guest room is it. But I'm going to talk to my parents too to see if they can come up with some sleeping arrangements that might work. I don't want my sister to feel unwelcome but it's hard with a new fur baby in the house that is just scared and skittish. I want her to have as much time as possible to feel cared about and welcome. I don't want to rush it. I also have a room that is connected to the garage but is not connected to the house. It's got lots of hiding places and so I am thinking as a last resort I could put new kitty in there, but the door goes outside and I don't want kitty to somehow get outside and get lost, especially as I don't have her micro-chipped yet, so I have to think this through. Kit.

Thanks. I am thinking of a drawer that can be slightly pulled out and I can just empty the drawer and put blankets and comfys in there and see if Amelia would be comfortable. I'm also not sure how Amelia is going to react with my sister and the baby in the room. She might freak out so I have to think of contingencies. Probably wasn't the best time to get a new kitty, but I've been so depressed, and she just called to me. Kit.

When is your sister arriving?

As long as Amelia can have her own space and the option of escaping the room if she needs too, I don't think it should be too much of a problem ie the door is left open so she can walk out if she wants too and isn't trapped.

I speak cat because I'm not very good at loud parties and being introduced to lots of people when I'm not feeling swell.

My sister is arriving on Sunday, so I still have a few days to figure things out. I don't think Amelia is going to be done hiding by then, and that's totally fine. She needs as much time as she needs. I remember my other kitty Esther hid for a long time too, but Amelia is much more skittish. She might be more of a challenge, but I love her and I love my other kitty and I want them to be healthy and happy and hopefully get along. Kit.

I sit on the grade grievance committee at my school. Today the student in the case was calling in by phone. Committee ended up calling him. He was clearly still in bed.

Then he asked us to wait a bit and we can hear him saying/having a long goodbye to his girlfriend in the background over the phone.
Thanks for this!

There was a Seinfeld where Kramer put some of his guests up in drawers.

I remember that one! My marketing prof had a thing for Seinfeld so we always watched quips from the show in marketing. Not sure that it really had anything to do with marketing but it was a fun distraction. Kit.

I remember that episode of Seinfeld. I love the show and thought it was hysterical, but I always hated his stand up comedy. I just didn’t find his stand up funny.

3 1/2 more hours till this work day is over. Maybe the days will go faster if I try to stop counting down the hours as soon as I get here in the AM.

I hate when that happens! My former t/pdoc is still alive and kicking and seeing clients within spitting distance of WHERE I SLEEP! WHERE MY CHILDREN COME AND PLAY WITH THEIR TOYS! Oops sorry, sometimes Al Pacino just has his way with me #godfatherquotes

Oh @@ you know you have a serious student there, go easy on the poor young Romeo!

I honestly find these student stories hilarious. Where does your school get these students from?!

Im not really sure what I meant- I think I'm just surprised not everyone takes school so seriously. That you also have to spend time chasing up students.

yoof. Now back in my day ....

I didn't enjoy the Nutcracker and four realms movie, maybe because it's aimed at a much younger audience, but I think they spent more time designing everything but but the plot was too simplistic and didn't flow well.

Not going to give spoilers but the ending was very cute with the father and daughter dancing.

Looking forward to the second lego movie now.
