Me three..I don't do it often, thankfully...but when I do, it takes up a lot of headspace.

Of course I still need to produce tomorrow’s lecture.
Took me a second. My first thought, "Fishing? In November?"

Doh.

Swimming, indoor pool, mildly heated because of the old dears who do water aerobics in it in the mornings. Unfortunately the hot tub was out of order.

I have a student who has been having difficulty (5th grade). He has difficulty focusing and at times can be challenging. I do small groups and one day, I kept him after for a few minutes and I told him that he is smart and that I love having him in my group, and that I believe in him. So, yesterday a few of my other students brought a gift bag of Halloween candy to me that their Mom sent in.. I was appreciative, I usually don't receive gifts because I just do small groups. This student who is having difficulty noticed when the student handed the bag to me.

So, today, this student told me that he forgot to bring me the candy he had for me when in group. So, later in the day, in walks this student. He handed me a plastic zip bag (he had had his sandwich in for lunch) with one single Kit Kat inside of it. He told me he knew I liked Kit Kats (he was paying attention). He had taken this piece of candy out of his own trick or treat bag. And on his way out, he told me, "My Mom checked your candy!" I am generally speaking, not sappy at all. I told my T this today and I could barely tell him because I was crying. I cried all the way home.

Thank you for sharing this. You gave that little boy hope and in return he took something of his that he wanted you to enjoy. He certainly internalized your care towards him. Your story made my eyes water and you are proof that good people still exist.

My cat has idiopathic cystitis brought on by stress. We have ant inflammatories and will get a feliway diffuser. They are so expensive. but if it wil keep all the cats calm that a bonus i guess.

I understand the pet expenses. My senior dog has a condition that causes her to have reoccurring bladder infections. It’s been very costly to treat her.

My therapist saw my very poor attempt at parallel parking today before our session and asked if it was me. Said he was chuckling about it. We've had several conversations about parallel parking before. Sometimes I tell him I need a gold star when I've nailed it that day, other times how badly I sucked at it. Another time how I was watching someone else park and could tell what they were doing wrong and how much harder it is to tell where it's going awry when you're in the car. Glad I gave him a laugh.

Anyone here well-versed in the Twilight Zone?

(Context: upcoming lecture on TV shows as myths. Want an episode to show in class, and that seems a likely show.)

I always found it too scary. I only know the episode about the guy who finally has time to read but breaks his glasses

Scary, but isn't that how life works out sometimes? I mean theoretically.

So - tz myth. Maybe the one w buster keaton? Its a time travel one. Or the braggart, with andy devine always telling tall tales. Thats one of my favorites. Its kinda like the boy who cried wolf. There is also a casey at the bat - the perfect ball player. Or the global warming one might be timely.

Does it have to be tz? How about ray bradbury's a sound of thunder? Altho they might have had that in high school. But also timely. The butterfly effect, ya know.

I dont have a good feeling for what myth is.

The actual chapter is in the contemporary myth section, and it’s about the journey into the unknown in Westerns and science fiction, examples being Stagecoach and Firefly. I have no idea if the kids have seen either, and they are both too long to watch in class (50 minute class). So a TV show 20-30 minutes long seems ideal. Doesn’t have to be the Twilight Zone, just something that involves a journey into the unknown, be it physical or psychological.

The Ray Bradbury Theater is a good idea too.

I never knew how to parallel park until I moved into a house that only has street parking. Now I'm a champ. There actually is a method to it. It looks complicated, but it's just a series of steps and really requires no finesse at all if you're following the steps.
