My therapist suggested that we read The Body Keeps the Score together since he just started reading it, so I've ordered the book and it should arrive tomorrow. I've had trouble with reading for the last few years (lost all interest, trouble concentrating) so I hope I can keep up with him.

I've never read it but it's supposed to be a really good book.

I don't think this is all on you, slumber kitty. Even if you were doing great, 2-3 minutes is absolutely negligent for the number of meds you are being prescribed. There is no scenario where that is ok and he is a good psychiatrist. If there aren't a lot of psychiatrists where you live and you can't find anyone else, I would call your insurance and see if they cover telepsychiatry. Then you could see someone else in a different part of your state remotely.

This whole med management piece seems really crucial to improving your situation. I hope you'll look into alternatives to this guy because I think that could make all the difference. This whole wham bam thank you ma'm style of doing things is probably the worst approach possible when you're having issues with minimizing your symptoms. And the appointments are so unbelievably brief that he probably can't even pick up on the fact that you're not ok.

Hey, Couch.

Does anybody have any recommendations for a DBT workbook? Friend has been given a two year waiting list for treatment on the NHS. From what I've seen here, you can learn the 'skills' on your own?

Thanks,

Lost

I declare war on this hurricane. Dorian will be little more than a squall by this time next week, or my name isn't Susannah.

I have heard the same thing Lost. I haven't tried finding a book and doing it myself though. They have a group here, but they don't take insurance and it's something like $100 a session.

Would you say Paul McCartney has an unremarkable face compared to John Lennon. I said this in a painting group because someone nailed Lennon but was struggling with McCartney i suggested this was the reason they wrer struggling so anyway i have started a bit of hate campaign for myself

Dammit. For some reason, I thought I didn't have any appointments already scheduled with the therapist. I was envisioning not contacting the therapist again for an appointment and then she would be worried and it would all be her fault for forgetting about me today.

I am seriously stressing myself i am feeling pressured by the school to get my daughter with severe anxiety to improve her attendence we have only been seeing the OT for a month and just starting psych assessments but i am feeling like a bad mother because i dont push her, i mean i push her but i dont push her so much to activate her anxiety. She is also a vegetarian and has low iron and feel bad about that because i give her iron tablets but cant afford a dietician. These things take time and i hope the school understands this.
And missing talking to exT because he always had something practical to say.

No idea. I don't believe in any of that stuff or in personality tests really. Only heard about it because of Chelsea Handler's last book. But I did find the results were very accurate for me personally - and the other types did not sound at all like me, so it didn't really seem like some sort of thing like with horoscopes where it's super vague and you can see yourself in all of them. But again - I don't believe in any sort of hocus pocus, astrology, and whatnot - just found the results true for me personally.

BCM, I am a vegetarian and have always had low iron, I think even before that. I don't know what type you give her, but I find ferrous gluconate to be the best. I take 324 mg every night and that's usually enough, but there have been times when I was severely anemic when my doctor told me to take twice that.

Each state is different, but there may be mandatory attendance requirements that they really don't have much give on. In Texas it is 90% attendance required. Truancy laws go into effect when attendance goes below that percentage.

Well. I certainly won't be texting the therapist to check on her tomorrow.

That's why I the rules vary from state to state. My point is that I'm assuming the rules vary wherever she is, but their hands may be tied by the specific laws.

First step in removing problem student is to meet with the assistant director of the disability center. That’s tomorrow.

Turns out another instructor has also made a report about him. So it’s not just me.

I know from previous interaction with the guidance councellor that attendence rate is 97% but at this particualr school the actual attendence rate is something like 82%.

It's almost never just one of us. Glad you're finding the system to work through this issue with this student.

INFP-T, the mediator, always been an INFP since college.

Type 2, the helper (gasp! surprise!) with balanced wings, whatever that means.

And I am getting my hair colored right now. Eldest son had a flat tire and after I dropped him off at work, I sent him a text saying sorry for all the swears but it was better than bursting into tears. Theater kid started singing at me: Always look on the bright sii-ide of life (merry whistling).

A glass of wine and some time alone in the salon chair and purty hairs will turn things right as rain. And AAA. Sigh.
