Those pineapple ones were so cute.

I'm almost done knitting and beading a black scarf which I am making for the Colonel's wife so I figured I could get a jump start on Christmas presents and get his scarf made too. The beading on the black scarf is taking me ages and my fingers aren't as nimble as they used to be! So they cramp easily. I haven't worked on it in a while but since I didn't finish it for last Christmas, I figured for sure I can finish it for this Christmas. I'm like 3/4ths of the way done. Next time I won't bead as much. Maybe every 10th row instead of every other. I have way too many black metallic beads. I'm not sure what I am going to do with the leftovers. I'm thinking of adding a fringe and beading that also but I don't know if I am that ambitious.

Had a super-good session with L earlier. (When are they not since I went back? Ha.) I started off telling her I was feeling a little ridiculous about texting her Tuesday morning now and she was all oh don't start that. I told her I got my first covid shot, then we had a really good discussion about all the stuff I'd been thinking and writing about over the past 2 weeks. And then worked with 3 dreams a little bit. They were each really short, like they have all been since October of last year. (She again referred to my super-long, convoluted, all-over-the-place dreams of the past as "russian novels".) I think I'm going back to weekly for the time being - hoping it will help with this anxiety/insomnia stuff of late.

Sounds like you had an awesome session, Artie. I think the Russian novels thing is cool. Today I woke up to my alarm clock (I had been dreaming) and then I hit snooze and I went right back into the same dream. I remember it had something to do with retail but nothing specific. I've been out of retail since 2016, when am I going to stop dreaming about it?!!! Argh. It felt like a Russian Novel because the dream seemed very long, though it might not have been. But there was no drinking, or dying, so maybe it was just a really long boring story!!

Retail therapy today: I bought a University Alumni sweatshirt, a book that a person in my Church wrote and just got published (he's young too, like college aged--not that I am jealous or anything ), a mystery book by PD James, and the camo yarn.

My park was packed with people on skateboards and little children today -the skateboards and roller skaters send one of my dogs batshit crazy. It was not a pleasant walk and because it has been raining for like a week solid - the ground is super swampy so it is hard to walk across the fields to get away from them. I need people to go back to being in bars and drinking on Friday afternoons so I can walk in the park without it being like walking a gauntlet

If I get as far as Fillmore, the accomploshment is “has a comic strip named for him.”

Sometimes to change things up I list the kings and queens of England in order.

I really want to go back to the early days of the pandemic when no one was out and about. I loved having the world pretty much to myself.

I refused to memorize that stuff. My sibling loved it. Sometimes I actually did learn it but would refuse to tell them I knew it and so would just skate by enough to pass the exam. Stuff like that pissed me off, unless they put it into some context I agreed was important. For some reason I didn't mind memorizing poems or plays or anything like that. But states, countries, and lists of people -I drew a line in the sand. I like big world maps and putting it up on the wall to show how they've changed -that fascinates me. I drove my mother to despair over why why I would not work for an A or a gold star unless I found it interesting.

I don’t actually memorize it. It just sticks in my head.

I have to memorize poetry etc. but not those lists.

I had the same issue in school—if I wasn’t interested I would not make the extra effort. I’d do the work, and do it well, enough for a B+ or A-, but if I didn’t care I wouldn’t invest myself in it.

Well done @@.

American presidents I can name without cheating:

Nixon
Roosevelt
Woodrow Wilson
George Washington
Abraham Lincoln
Biden
Trump
Biden
Obama
George Bush
J.F Kennedy

I also can memorize things I'm more interested in without trying too. School work on the other hand =

Hugs. It's day 4. OK pain but the fever worries me. Living off instant porridge, instant pasta and Ensure (meal replacement drink).

Too weak to cook or even blend fruits into smoothies... scary, makes me feel unsafe. Friend I'm living with made me a plate of steamed egg with shredded carrot. Really kind of her.

I don't know when I can resume eating solid food... About 3 days till I get my stitches removed.

Talking about memorizing things, sometimes I think about what else I might have been able to learn over my lifetime if I hadn't filled my head with so many song lyrics. so.many.songs.

I still can't sleep. Been laying in bed staring at the ceiling for almost an hour now (since 3 am) and decided the heck with it and just got up. I was hoping that talking with L yesterday would help me sleep a full night but no. Here I sit. Dang it.

I should have figured I guess... it's because I'm so torn about going back to weekly sessions. I made the decision to do it because my dream from earlier in the week clearly told me to, and I didn't need L's "clinical opinion" about it all to make the decision. I'm just still torn about it. I'm curious about this - curious about why I am often like this when I make a decision about something. H doesn't understand it at all, he says when we talk about it "once I make a decision, it's the right one, and that's all there is to it." I have never in my life been that way about almost every decision. Always second, third, fourth to infinity-guessing myself.

Gentle hugs, QM. can you call the dentist and just verify about the fever? They may be able to put your mind at ease.

I'm glad your friend made you the eggs. That sounds like a tasty combination, I recently discovered scrambled eggs with mashed sweet potato puffs. Delicious.

It's the weekend here so I'll wait till my appointment on Tuesday. The fever is going down thankfully. It's probably because I haven't been taking paracetamol every 6 hours as prescribed but more like every 8 hours when I start feeling pain again.

Omg, what you tried sounds absolutely delicious!

Hugs, QM. I'd be worried about the fever, as it could be a sign of infection. Do you have urgent care places in your area that are open on weekends? (not ER). I'm wondering, even if this is a dental thing, if they could check on possible infection? In case you might need antibiotics.
