I do it when I'm in pain and can't find a comfortable way to sit. I hope you can settle a bit.

I also do it when in emotional distress. I find it soothing like rocking a baby.

Not rocking but sometimes shaking an arm or hand

Definitely when I'm extremely distressed, so rather rare. Although once it was in session with T.

The campers are all sleeping out in the woods tonight, so camp is oddly quiet. The kiddo chaos was keeping me happy and occupied, but now I’m missing my BF something fierce

Yep, when I'm super stressed out. It's soothing and helps me calm down. I do it when I'm thinking, too. My work chair functions like a rocking chair if I unlock it, so I rock back and forth in my chair while I'm working sometimes without realizing I'm doing it until I notice, when I'm figuring out how to phrase a particularly complicated response to a member. I'm pretty sure I don't always notice.

I have my laptop on my office desk at the moment, had to print something yesterday and the only way my printer will work now is if it's plugged directly into my computer. It's got wireless and used to work that way before we moved, but I guess something must have shook loose inside it maybe because it won't connect to wifi anymore. Thankful that it still works plugged in directly! My team is low on work right now (slow time of year) so maybe they'll offer VTO today. That would be nice, I would go swim. Yesterday I got trained on another new responsibility I was voluntold for (it's not a bad thing, it's one of those 'making me more valuable to upper management' things that doesn't make my job any harder it's just working messages for a particular new client that requires only long-time, specially-trained employees can respond to their messages. I've been working here almost 9 years so I qualify.) Anyway time to go get signed onto work my shift starts in 4 minutes. Later couchies!

I hate troubleshooting printers (home or business), and so does a lot of IT support folks it seems. Someone wrote a post on reddit on how he loves working on printers, lots of people said he's nuts lol.

My friend I'm staying with? Setting up her first printer this year was such a pain. Couldn't get it working when directly plugged in. Instructions for WiFi weren't clear at all.

Then she decided she needed a better quality printer due to some important reasons, and got another. Sold the first to someone. The second one was supposed to be easy to install, you just need to download software. She follows instructions in manuals but got stumped at one point. Looked up YouTube etc too. An hour later, turns out we had to go to the German site for that brand to download the corresponding software for that particular model. Not go to the site listed in the set up manual. Grr lol.

Jeepers! I often had trouble with printing over wifi even when it used to work at my old house. L would be like "uh huh" (joking, of course) when I'd say my printer didn't work so I couldn't print my dreams that week. But it was true! stupid printers.

Thanks @@ That helps to know. I am having some pain but I think that could be caused by other reasons.

Yes I do it frequently. I think for me it's a stimming behavior. It calms me down.

Helen goes to the vet tomorrow. Finally. These ten days with the Elizabeth collar on have been horrible. I need to get her eyes looked at. One was goopy and green mucky stuff was coming out of it. She was on antibiotics due to her spay surgery so they helped clear up the green goop but now her eye is like crusty and I try to wipe it with a pet wipe and it doesn't get all the stuff off of it. I got her pet insurance but I need to get her wellness plan tomorrow. And then I know she needs shots. I don't know what else she needs but I am sure the vet will tell me. I am hopeful that everything else is healthy with her. I do want her vaccinated because I have other pets and it's healthier for her. Dad said he was washing dishes today and she was underfoot so that is a good sign. She is out more with us and not hiding as much in the spare room. And for once she didn't knock over her litter box! Good kitty. She's a sweetheart.

Case Manager/Care Coordinator said that I sounded really good on the phone yesterday. She asked what had changed. I told her about new cat Helen. She's like maybe all you needed was another cat all along. Is there anyway you can take your cat everywhere you go? I think she was kidding on that last part but I definitely think that having Amelia and Helen is good for my mental health. Especially Helen because she is cuddly. Amelia is not as cuddly but I know when I can pet her, when she is laying down, but if she is sitting up, she doesn't want to be petted.

Yes, it can be considered a form of stimming--it provides...I want to say it's proprioceptive (sp?) input? With movement of the body in space. My D used to do that some when she was younger (like 2 or 3. Now she mostly does things with her hands, sort of like flapping, but not in the sense that some kids on the spectrum do it. Like, she doesn't watch her fingers. It more seems like she needs to get some sort of energy out. She'll also run back and forth. And she'll bit her fist sometimes when she's upset, which makes me sad.

Oops! I hope the sunburn isn't too painful! Another reminder of my summers at camp, thank you! This one's a funny story. One summer I had this swimsuit that was dark brown with these little white and yellow rectangles in the design. I pretty much lived in my swimsuit, lifeguarding and teaching swim lessons that I would tan through the white and yellow rectangles (but not the rest of the suit) so my torso was covered with suntanned rectangles. It was so funny.

I have a phone session in a little over an hour. I'm not sure what to talk about. We have the option of doing a video session, but I don't know how I feel about that. We ended up talking about body image issues last session and I'm not sure I feel like being seen today.

It rained here earlier and cooled things off, so after the rain stopped I went for a 1.5 mile walk on the trail behind my neighborhood, the one that runs alongside the train tracks. What a beautiful evening in the desert!

Thanks. I'm going to dub sessions like this one Seinfeld sessions because they're about nothing. I asked him at one point if everyone he talks with talks about such mundane $hit. I think my question threw him for a minute. He finally got something out about mundane being subjective and it wasn't mundane to me. Not exactly sure how that makes me feel except maybe like I'm a loser because I don't have anyone else to talk about my daily life with? I don't get the impression that he minds listening to me, but maybe I'm wrong.

Failed my second chance exam. One more retake in august left and if I flop that I'm out.

Maybe I'm not supposed to be a doctor.
