what does friendship.. mean to you????
if someone says... you are "important" to them??? what does it mean??? seriously... what would you do for a friend?? the pat answer is anything... but.. if you were friends.. for 27 years with someone... and they were dying.. would you help them??? just... what would you do for a friend.. it is so.. easy to say you are my friend... yet... so very easy to say.. well... I would help BUT>>>>>>> hells bells.. my best friend.. is a millionare.. so.. you would think.. that many things would be within her grasp.. to help a friend.. a friend that rich.. could hire.. a housekeeper for you once a week for a year, they could hire a part time cook for you.. for a year, they could.. hire someone to stock your freezer for 6 months... all the hekp you until.. you were better... Right???? what.. do I do.. for my friends.. well I sit thru endless rounds of chem.. and stem cell gathering... I sit thru surgeries... and healing.. I send them cards to make them laugh... when they need a laugh... I pick out the prefect dog.. pretend it is for me.. and it is really the pertect dog for them - but I know.. they will never get it for themselves.. so I do... My T... says I have a "warped" view on friendship.... and I God help me.. am starting to believe it... But.. if you don't have family.. then you are.. just completely out of luck... cause......... then... what is there???????? then.. what you have.. is Nothing... right???? |

Well, in the Bible Jesus said in John 15, "greater love hath no man than this, that he would lay down his life for his friends." That is the kind if friend that I seek to be. The kind that, if I had millions, and my friend was sick, I would hire a housekeeper to come in once a week and I would hire a cook to prepare meals for the week for them. I am also reminded of the parable of the good samaritan who found a man along the road that had been beated and robbed. While others passed him by, the samaritan, an outcast in the eyes of the beaten man, took him to be treated for his injuries and paid in advance for it, then said to the care provider, if he needs anything else and it costs more, charge it to me and I will pay you when I return. That is a person that I would call a friend.
You have a good concept of friendship and I am happy to call you my friend. Have a great evening, Eric |

i have spent a lot of time alone and pondering who i am and what what is and whats it all about and whats my meaning.....i think 50guy makes a very good point.. when you are without people, you can find strength in spirit or a higher power of some form...
from that, create new connections to the created world using the messages of kindness you already know so well or develop from asking your source of knowledge.... before long you might create new friendships relative to your new understandings... then you have something.... sorry if this does not answer your intended questions |

I agree entirely with you on your views of friendship freewill. But there are very few people in real life that I share that bond with. I don’t like to be taken advantage of, and you come across a lot people in life that take without giving.
But a true friend, I would do anything in my power to do. Since I don’t have the financial ability to hire a housekeeper and cook, I’ve done these things myself. A true friend is a part of the family, they’re welcome at any time without calling. I don’t need to entertain them, we’re able to sit without talking and it’s not uncomfortable.

It means I will care about you in spite of you and me...
My friendship has no expectations upon you.. If I need you to fill my holes,,then I am not your friend,,I am your dependent...but if you fill them without my need then you have touched me...and for that I will be forever grateful. IMHO. Lenny

I know this is hard but you have to separate money from friendship. Money makes friendships complicated. If a friend gives you or lends you money you will always have that hanging over your head and they will more or less own you weather they throw it in your face or not. I know this is a warped way of thinking. Money shouldn't make friendships complicated but I think that it ruins a lot of good relationships.
Someone once told me that "money is the root of all evil", sometimes I think she is right.

imo money has nothing to do with friendship
its in the eyes of the beholder....... We are not who we are by our bank accounts We are who we are by our actions in life Our spirits show who we are....... wheather a friend is rich or poor makes no difference in my eyes a friend is a friend you do all you can for that person.... you have your online friends we can not bring you food but we can offer support and help with healing and peace your never alone here in my life time i have helped a few ppl one being a man on a bike once who i gave him a couple dollars as thats all i had at the time. He was out in the rain. you could see he needed food. I did it knowing i would never see him again, He was a older man,, prolly in his 70s homless i do think spirit guides us on this.... you always have that and us here at pc muffy |

I personally do not mind lending or giving people money if I have it. But when it's lent to me I can't rest until it's paid back. I like being able to help people and I do when ever I can, I just don't like help myself. Like I said, I know it's a warped way of thinking, I think it's a control thing.

I agree with being lead by the spirits.
I have given money to strangers just because I felt moved to do it and have been told that it was just at the precise moment that they needed it. Once a Missionary came to my house, I have know this man for quite a number of years. We had a nice visit and before he left I felt the spirit leading me to give him some money. I went and got the money from another room in the house and slipped it to him in a handshake as he was leaving. A couple of days later he called me to thank me and said that he was flat broke and the gas gauge was on E when he was at my house that day. He hadn't eaten all day and was lead of the spirit to go to my house, a place he had not been to in years. We fed him and the money that he got from me was more than enough to get him home some 300 miles away and have eough for his other expenses. That is how friendship and the spirits work. I wish I could do more for my friends and I would if I could. |

This post... was so so so so not about money.....
It was about.. LOVE... LOVE... LOVE... LOVE... LOVE.... and.. so not about money.... it is about... friendship..... about... sharing.... about perceptions...of what friendships are... I can personally pay... for the "help" I need.... really... my friend.. with the "money".... cannot feel... care.. empthay.... pleasure.. from being with someone.... because she.. is "stunted".. in her personal growth.... and.. I actually feel sorry for her... I used.. the example.. of her paying for help... because... she can't.. even part.. with 5.00.. that you put in the Christmas boxes.. for sending overseas for the children.. she doesn't feel.. that joy...of... making someone else's life better... and.. yes friendships.. are not about "filling in holes"... for another person in my opinion either.... sharing... is the best I can come.. to my definition of friendship... |

That's a shame. I think sometimes people who have a lot of money become defensive. They think that people only want to be friends with them because they have money. That everyone's trying to get something out of them. They don't know who they can trust, they always have their backs up. It will be hard to prove your loyalty to her. You said you were friends with her for a long time, that should be proof enough. Were you friends with her before she had money? I know you said that this post is not about money, but I believe that money is the reason she is like this.

50’s guy – that is awesome! We had a similar thing happen to us (although we were on the receiving end). Many years ago my husband and I were experiencing some serious financial problems. A friend of his approached him and said “I know there’s something wrong and I can help you if you wish.” Hubby said he was fine etc. A couple weeks later he said “I don’t want to embarrass you, but I know you need help right now and I can help you.” Hubby said “thanks, but I can’t do that.”
This wonderful man went to his bank the next day and handed my husband a paper sack full of cash. We are very much like vetswife and don’t mind helping, but don’t do well with receiving. Through the years we have attempted many times to pay this man back. He wouldn’t take a penny. He said “I have more than enough money to last me the rest of my life, it was a gift, while that money seems like a great amount to you, I don’t miss it a bit. You’re good people that hit a rough spot, I am just happy you allowed me the privilege to help.” His only condition on the gift is that we were not allowed to tell people about it. He wanted to help those people that he deemed worthy without being bombarded with loan requests.

AAAAA,
That is exactly the way I am. When I help someone I don't want them to tell others because I want to remain anonymous. I usually don't ask people if I can help them I just get a feeling and it is usually spot on. I find a way to do it when they can't refuse. One time a person needed tires on the car so, I asked if I could borrow their car for an errand. I took it to get tires, an oil change and full tank of gas. I never said a word just left the receipt on the seat with the price torn off. I get a real spiritual lift from doing for others that I cannot describe. I am also one that doesn't like to take from others but, I got a lesson in that. I was homeless twice in my life. Me, DW and 2 kids, with nowhere to live and nowhere to turn. We lived in the car, on a campground, in a low rate (in more ways than one) motel and I worked till I ached to get ahead. We did and I determined that I would help others. I want to be the kind of friend a friend would like to have. The Bible says that he that would have friends, must show himself to be friendly. I offer my life and insights to all free of charge. Friendship is the deepest expression of love that there is. All of us seek to be accepted by others. Nothing is more painful than unrequited friendship. A onesided friendship hurts our spirit and damages our emotions. No one wants to be used. |

nowheretorun,
Thank you very much. It means a lot to me and helps to to know that I am doing the work and being used of the spirits. I really understand what the founder of the Salvation Army meant when asked to discribe his work, he replied "others". |

I've always tried to help those in need. Even those that don't know us. After our twins learned of the Christmas secret, it just wasn't the same until we started adopting a family for Christmas. We'd shop and beautifully wrap presents and just leave them with food on the porch of the family we adopted. It was so much fun.
It just touched me so much that this man was willing to go out of his way to help us with no strings attached. It restores my faith in humanity. It tears my heart out when I see someone that is down on their luck and we're unable to help. There but by the Grace of God go I. (((((50guy))))) still love you to bits and wondering if you're my husband in disquise.

AAAAA,
I know about a similar program called secret Santa. It operates in much the same way. You have the heart of a servant and that is wonderful and it is why you heart so much to see others hurting. When I was a child I used to cry silently when I saw poor beggars on the street asking for money for food. It is heart wrenching to see. Thank you for your love, You must have a good man. Have a great day. Eric |
