It's okay to ask. I've been doing better lately. Just trying to take things one day at a time.
Thanks for this!

My overactive senses in social situations would give me panic attacks and it would be very obvious which increased the amount of anxiety I was facing. I haven't had a panic attack in school this semester which is a huge step for me
My anti-anxiety medication is an SSRI called Cipralex. I have tried benzodiazepines without much success. The extreme somnolence and memory loss isn't acceptable.

I am glad your anxiety has improved.

My psychiatrist suspects I have a mild LD. I seem to have problems with reading and comprehension, but it may be due to my cognitive style and anxiety. Perhaps some of this is a lingering effect of the psychosis I had. I don't know what to think. This is something I need to look into. If I mention it to my psychiatrist I am scared she is going to tell me I leave school.

In the lecture hall I sit in the front row, so I don't have to smell people and watch them play on their laptops.

When I was younger, I thrived on a schedule. At the moment I have no schedule at home. I think a lot of this has to do with grossly underestimating the amount of time I need to get things done and procrastination. Sometimes I can be very lazy.

Safari is now listing 234. The Autism and Asperger forum once listed 899.

What do you think about that now, newtus?

I used to think that just because I see and hear things it automatically meant I had sz, but now I know that's not true, and I understand how its different.

i think i was possibly misinterpreting my sz for aspergers-like traits

i thought that cuz i have severe trouble making eye contact. people sometimes think im blind/deaf cuz i dont look anyone in the eye. i was also unnaturally quiet as a child. still am. and also social deficits. i also wanted able to dress appropriately since a child. some other stuff.

i think maybe it was all sz stuff because i never got "pegged" excuse my term - as having aspergers. i also read if u either have 1 or the other. as the dsm says. even though some have both its not likely.

It must be accurate. Initially I thought it was a glitch because the count is usually between 25 to 30. I guess more people use the internet or visit this site on a Friday evening.

Yea...but I've been here lots of fri nights and I've never seen it go up like this. Maybe the site is being audited for some purpose? I dunno.

Like that a large number of people were invited tonight either with a psychological teaching purpose or with an IT learning purpose? Something like that? It wasn't a fully formed idea. Just a thought. Could be we were just really super popular tonight! I don't know. I think it will be cool if we get new members that are active from such a big visitor night.

That makes sense. Thanks.

I am trying to do a math assignment and nothing is getting through. My head isn't into at all.

Anyone know trigonometry?

Question: A ladder leans up against a building at an angle of 65° with the ground. If the ladder is 5 metres long, how far up the building does it reach? Assume all angles in this triangle are less than 90 degrees.

If this question is from a college text book the answer is most likely in the back.

The answer is 4.5. Unfortunately there is no full answer. I tried to work backwards but I cannot figure it out. Usually a third piece of information is provided but all I got is one side and one angle. It is not a right angle triangle so I cannot determine the second angle with simple math. The only way I got 4.5 was sin65 x 5 the length of the side.

I just noticed it was in meters. I only know inches and feet so I wouldn't have been much help anyways. Do you have a classmate you could ask?

No. Thanks anyways. I don't think this math is getting through tonight.

The directions were wrong. No wonder I could not figure out this straight forward problem. My triangle was a right angle triangle and not an oblique triangle.

@lil didgee - I don't know if it would have helped you, but I would have drawn a picture to figure this sort of thing out. I would have scaled it from 5 meters to 5cm to make it reasonable to draw, and worked it out that way. I did all right at trig but I don't know if it would come back to me or not if I set out to work a lesson or test.

Everyone is worthy to express themselves on this forum. No issue is too small and everyone has different struggles.

i think my dad thinks im ok because my behavior has calmed down recently. and that could change...

...but i have extremely strong paranoia everyday. it doesnt go away...

and um
i think its time i open up about this...
ive been struggling with something for a very very very long times. years...

but um...i do things 3 or 5 or 7 times. sometimes 1. touch the door 3 times. touch handles 3 times. smoke my cigarettes 3 inhales. flush the toilet once. wring my hands when i wash them 3 times. pull 3 hairs. etc stuff like that. i set my volume on tvs and odd number.

i believe that since 7 is the number of God and 1 - cuz alpha and omega - that he will bless me immediately if i do things an odd number of times but no more than 7 and try to do more than 1. i consider things in even numbers to be evil. and of the devil incarnate.

i fear doing things in even numbers. because i consider it to be evil and i think ill be considered evil by God and not be blessed. i consider people evil who do things in even numbers and consider them to be of the devil.
