When I was on ritalin a couple of months ago it gave me the scariest hallucinations I've ever had and increased my delusions. It was pretty bad and I'm glad I'm not on it anymore.

A few pages back Blackwhitered posted a study that showed the damages of children treated with ADHD meds and the possible link to Schizophrenia and other MI. Very interesting. I know for Bean, it was a disaster. They just kept giving her different types and brands for years instead of trying to figure out why they were not working.

The destist who was mean used to scratch me with the tooth hook thingy if I didn't open my mouth wide enough, as punishment.... I was just a kid! Then my mom took me to a pediatric destist and he was very nice, but a month later he got arrested as a child molester and was in the news. I was about 10 years old. I never went to the dentist after that until I broke my tooth and I think that was in 2009.
I've never had any cavities or anything and my dentist was nice...I just haven't been for years due to depression, or been diligent about caring for my teeth so I'm worried there'll be issues and I'd be told off :/

I might do mine today out of curiosity. I'm feeling better but still struggling with motivation etc.

I think you should be honest, but make it clear you have no intention of doing anything. I've never had anyone freak out, even when I had a plan, until I had intent to act on the plan in the near future.

Her pdoc says she is just symptomatic. Nothing will totally get rid of it. She is restless all the time but with the thorazine, it has improved. Its frustrating though when at each teachers meeting they bring up how hyperactive she is and needs meds for this. ugg. She cant stay sitting in a room for more than 15 minutes at a time before she needs to go see the guidance counselor for a break. Not all restlessness and agitation is ADHD for heavens sake! She sees and hears things! yea, that would make me have to get up and leave class too! Or be distracted in class! Do you know how many times I have to repeat this???
Okay. Rant over....
Teachers are useless sometimes! My oldest brother definitely had ADHD, though not diagnosed until his teens, and we told all his teachers, but every parent's evening they'd go on about his in attention, hyperactivity, and outbursts like they had no idea of his diagnosis. My Mum gave them instructions in how best to handle him but they always made the situation worse instead of diffusing it. We don't have guidance counsellors in UK schools, but I think they'd be a good idea.

Still worrying about my upcoming MH appts Plus Max has hurt his tail and it's all sore and pus-y so I've been putting germoline on it, so hopefully it'll get better and he won't need antibiotics (or expensive vet bills!).

Just did the depression test and scored 60! It hasn't been that low in years!!! Normally it's over 80!

I realise my score still falls in the severe category, but I actually feel fine after being used to being worse for so many years...

I know Willow. It's a huge deal to have that big of a difference. Scores are only there to give a reference point.
If you were to take all of your numbers and put them on a chart, you would see how great you are doing right now.

I take the depression and mania tests on here just to guage where I'm at. I take them on the same day (due to being mixed so much,) and I pretty much always get in the 50 range for depression and mania at the same time, with fully honest answers. There's a few times I've been down in the 40s. I don't take it as diagnosing, I take it more just to gauge myself, kind of like a mood tracker.

I also take the schizophrenia/psychosis test and I'm ususally in the 20s and have been in the 30s a couple of times. The lowest I've ever gotten is 13. I find that interesting and wonder if it means anything. But, I've stopped worrying about it. At first it kind of freaked me out, but now I just figure, "well, that's interesting."

For you guys who are depressed do you also hang out on the depression forum here? I haven't ever had long term depression(thank God) so I never know what to suggest for that other than like CBT books and stuff.

Also out of curiosity are there people who have recovered from depression on there? I just wonder because I was thinking about paulycoll/materly's question on why the recovered sz people don't hang out on here and if even the depressed but recovered don't hang out on PC then I'm thinking that answers the question...especially considering both the prevalence of depression and recovery from it...

No I rarely read that forum now, and post even less often (though that used to be my main forum before the voices started). It's kind of a depressing place. Too many people all struggling at once I much prefer here cos, though sometimes people are struggling, there's also the general chit chat of our daily lives and info about psychosis and other stuff. It's not all all the time.

I don't think so but, like I said, I don't go there often.

Yeah--thanks for answering I can understand not wanting to hang out there for those very reasons that's why I was wondering...

I don't go there. It sometimes make me more depressed and I usually don't have much to say to start a tread there. It's much easier to go here and complain lol because I don't have to start a thread and I find you guys more supportive. Plus you can't say "I want to blow my ****ing head off" or anything like that which I've been feeling like for the past few days.

The short answer?
I look it over there at times but it makes me more depressed and anxious so I tend to stay away.

Anyhow, I joined here for Bean. To understand her and get advice and insight into what is going on with her, what to do and what not to do and am eternally grateful to be here - my first forum - and the friends I have made.

When I feel depressed, I go where I know everyone and they know me. You all are too awesome.

I'm sure a lot have to do with emotions. You tend to be more sensitive when feeling depressed.

Actually I read about this once for people with the grandiose delusions when everybody was locked up in hospitals there used to be issues if there was more than one napoleon or Jesus or whatever---

When I first started here I actually started in the relationship forum because it was during the bad time I was going through in 2011. Then I just happened to check out the bipolar forum. I spent a lot of time there, and at first I found it really supportive. I do have some good friends there still, who are great. But something happened and the dynamic changed. I just didn't feel I belonged there any more. I don't post there much now.

I had first come into the psychosis forum because I was curious about my experience all those years ago. I was really nervous at first to say anything. I actually used to be a bit of a lurker. I don't recall exactly what gave me the courage to speak up, but I am sooo glad I did! Because you guys are all so supportive and even though I don't have an sz dx I still feel like I share a lot in common with everyone even more than the bipolar board.

I don't go to the depression forum because my depression isn't that big of a deal to me. I have a lot more problems with my dysphoric mania. I can deal with depression, because my depression isn't that strong. My suicidalness comes from the dysphoria instead.

I say I'm 90% recovered from being suicidal. I can't say 100% because I do still have times whenI struggle with it.
