Yeah I know I always think of mimi2112 and wonder if she's still reading this or has moved on whether she is stable off the meds or had a relapse. It's kind of random though some people like the little didgee who I also miss come and go as they need a break. I try to make myself think that they are doing so well that they don't have time to logon. You know like bean got miraculously better and punky is just so busy enjoying doing things with her daughter now that she has her well again...that they are just having a great life or busy planning for the move or whatever...

I talked to didgee not that long ago, she's lurks on the forum and is still active on other forums. I'm sure she will probably read this, but I'm not sure if she will post anything about it.

OK well that's definitely odd usually if you are good enough for the school you can usually pick whatever program you want. Is there any way you could take some sort of placement test. I know I had AP chemistry and we took an AP test to place out of the requirement for the first semester of college chem. Have you tried talking to the people in admissions and explaining your situation? I guess also of some importance do you know how to do chemistry because it really is needed for lab work you have to calculate moles etc to make solutions for even the most basic work. If you don't know chemistry then I would try to think about this as a temporary delay because if you tried to do lab work without chem you might end up failing the program so maybe the delay will actually help you in the end? Could you take a chem class over the summer possibly at another school and then transfer the credit to your school so you could start the medical program sooner?

I was thinking of doing chemistry over the summer until the director of the program discouraged me. Do you think the admission department would take into consideration of my circumstance? I found their email and I could email them about my situation.

I just feel pitiful that I've been in college for 4 years and still don't have a degree of any kind. All my friends are going to graduate school and I still haven't received an associates yet.

I think you won't know unless you ask I mean what do you have to lose at this point...maybe they would allow you to take it concurrently?

Why wouldn't they want you to take it over the summer?

I just emailed the admission department so I really really really hope they are feeling sympathetic today or whenever their office is open.

well my team meeting was bc they were wondering why marijuana was still in my system and worrying that thats why i am hearing voices randomly. i promised them that i havent smoked since feb. but the lab test results show that my levels are going down. so i guess they believe me. but it was making me paranoid. i feel paranoid now that im gonna get kicked out. T said im not but i dont believe him. he wouldnt lie though so i need to trust him

No unfortunately while cbt for psychosis is supposed to deal with all of psychosis it is really weak for paranoia/delusions like you make these pie charts about probabilities and stuff I only really found the meds to be effective for that. I do wonder though if mindfulness meditation would work---its a relatively new thing for sz treatment but its interesting because one of the things it does is when the amygdala fires and send out a fight or flight response it also shuts down your pre-frontal cortex the thinking part of the brain but there is some research that suggests that if you can engage in mindfulness mediation you can keep the pfc active even if you are scared by something so you can just think through it logically instead of being caught up in the fear...I think its worth a shot...I actually have a dvd set of it I'm planning on watching sometime this week so I will update if I find anything helpful...

@newtus, you can take classes online if you have trouble commuting to a campus. Most of my classes are online.

I really enjoy being in college, but I dislike working my job at the same time though. If I was just in college and didn't have to worry about money this wouldn't have been a problem for me. I really wish my boyfriend made the amount he is suppose to make so I could be part time. I feel so complainy, but I come from a broken home and have a lot of mental illnesses so I have to do almost everything on my own which tolls on me. That's why I'm hoping I win a lot of scholarships so they can help me out.

I find mindfulness through mediation helps me the most when I do yoga. There is a Buddhist group in my area for mediation and I'm contemplating joining them. It's free, but they would like you to donate at least a couple of dollars

thats what i plan to do. i actually have to do that because i got kicked out of two colleges for having psychotic episodes in them and disturbing the peace. so i plan to take an online class cause im scared to go in person plus its far - over at a community college. my biggest thing right now with that though is money. idk if i have enough. and being on disability you cant get certain financial aid. at least i read that.

I thought you could get more with financial aid? Also, some community colleges provide scholarships for those with disabilities. I applied for several at my college and I hope I win a couple, I'm pretty open about my diagnoses at college so it shouldn't be a problem.

i used to be open about my disability but ever since i got bad responses im hesitant to be open about it anymore. but idk i probably could be open about it more.

Yeah I found with schizophrenia it alarms a lot of people, but when I say schizoaffective or tell them bipolar they are pretty nice about it. Everyone is different though, my math prof knows I'm on the schizophrenic spectrum and she doesn't seem to mind. I actually used her as a reference for some of my scholarships since I am doing very well in her class.

It's closed sadly and I was hesitant on applying for that one because they publish your essay. I wouldn't want employers to google my name and find out that I am on the schizophrenic spectrum. I have been applying for disability scholarships though and some I mentioned having bipolar. I applied for a ADHD one and several others, but I only told them I had bipolar because schizophrenia has the most stigma of all mental illnesses as I have learned.
