[QUOTE=Atypical_Disaster;3978433]I was talking about mental illness, schizophrenia specifically. You completely misunderstood my post.[

It wasn't intentional. In epilepsy, we use the acronym "sz" to refer to seizures. I always have to think about it when I see it hear and realize that many here use sz to refer to schizophrenia. But since the subject of seizures was specifically brought up in the conversation with SometimesP, I thought "straight sz" was a layman's reference to epilepsy.

Again, I did not intentionally "completely misunderstand" your post.

The resident was originally talking ambulatory EEG and MRI but the attending guy was talking let's do the cheapest first which I think is fine.....he said if it came back weird we would do an MRI....he seemed most interested in the knocking but thought it should be identical....

Here is the thing.....pdoc may be leaning bipolar and you can use anticonvulsants for that as well....it may not matter what I have formally if I still can take the meds.

Basically I was ready to just trust the guy and say....if this is a waste of time let's not do it but then he was all I think we'll get it done to put everyone at ease etc etc. I'm fine with that.

You have to understand I can read about these things and recreate them for some reason with my hallucinations....it's all a game somehow for whatever part of me is sick like diagnostic challenge...last time I thought I was diabetic and bought ketone test strips....consciously I had no idea they even existed but the voices told me to go to the pharmacy and get some.....some part of my brain recalls this stuff and then incorporates it into my psychosis....it's like I told him the only reason I'm getting this worked up was the original psych thought it might be....ie an actual doctor said it might be the case instead of my own mind.
Yeah, I get all that.. but I think I remember you having been diagnosed with temporal lobe seizures in the past or something? Anyway, in that context, I just think it's important to not be too quick to rule it out.. especially if the end result is that you can get meds that resolve some of your bothersome symptoms. And I get what you're saying about AED's being used for bipolar. My daughter takes Lamictal. However, I'm not so sure that the AED's used for bipolar are necessarily the ones that best treat simple partial seizures. So.. having a correct diagnosis would certainly be more ideal.

Well we'll see I'm getting the EEG the 16th....it's not the works but if something shows up we'll go from there. Plus at this point I think I'm for sure having active psychosis so it's not going to help me get off my AP....no past dx of seizures of any kind, a couple of others did though....

I think I'm having visuals that are indistinguishable from reality and I started having the delusion I was faking everything for a bit so it's clear there is some psychosis...

And you really think they are going to give it to you? In the US they are supposed to check on mental health history, and you would be rejected here. I'd be really surprised if you're able to get it.

Seems everyone here is either a night owl or over the other side of the pond! I always go to bed around 10pm these days... no matter how late I go to bed I'm usually only dozing after 4ish.

I'm not so fussed about the computers, I prefer using Windows but I do love the other products. I've had an iPod mini, nano chromatic, iPod touch & now I've got the full package with a white 5S. I also have an iPad Mini 2.

Absolutely love the fingerprint sensor on the phone! So much better than using a passcode. Also useful that it's got a good camera as it means I can take nice photos even when I don't have my DSLR with me.

I don't know where I'd be without technology... I guess I don't haven't had much going for me the past few years & it gives me things to do. Thankful for that much.

It does get better, there will always be times where things are bad but they will improve too.

I'm learning now that this is indeed a life long illness & it's a long road to recovery, whether that be complete or just managing the symptoms.

I had this problem until I started smoking again.I was in a reasonable mood but I just felt nothing.

Smoking seems to be a double edged sword, never mind my asthma. It helps me think a little clearer, allows me to ignore the voices a bit (although they are just as loud) & improves the apathy but it seems to bring out some of the other symptoms.

Even thinking back to when I was on antipsychotics & smoking 20 a day... I always would talk to myself & pace whilst/just after smoking. I'm guessing it's a good thing I'm not drinking caffeine at the moment.

Crescent - I don't know if they check that here.
Then again it's not like the police would do anything to help.

My solicitor not even trying yesterday.

All the stalkers just mocking me, because they know everyone else just thinks I'm sick.

That's why.

Right I need 2 people to act as referees for the police to even think about it.
I don't have 2 people to ask. So my hope of owning a gun is over.

KUREHA you're not going to get a gun, so I wouldn't worry about any risk.

English gun laws are pretty much the same as here, unless you have farmers land to shoot on, are registered with a gun club or have a hunting license you're not going to get a license. There are many more factors that come into it but they're just a few.

To the people of this forum: I wouldn't worry about her getting a gun, it's not going to happen.

Now if you knew someone with a gun, well that's a different story.

Edit: Just to add, I was thinking in a similar way a few years ago when I was about 15. I mentioned it (very vaguely) in school to my guidance counsellor and they called the police who took my fathers gun off him because of the risk. This is how super cautious they are and given your diagnosis and CTO, not going to happen.

The gun would have been helpful, doesn't matter now though.

Newtus - I am taking my meds, I only missed this week. My doctor doesn't give me the chance to stop taking it.
I discharged myself from the CMHT, I don't if that worked though, because its part of my CTO conditions.

It depends on where you are. In my area they're pretty cheap, about $5.00 a pack. But downtown they're like $10.00 a pack, ridiculous!
