i just found out i am diabetic my A1c is 8.6. I am wondering is the seroquel to blame? i am on 800 mg a day of seroquel and 160mg a day of geodon.
this is all so new to me, does anyone have any idea if seroquel after long term use can cause this.
I am now on metformin and glucose checks daily.
thanks , tams

Most antipsychotics that cause weight gain are notorious for causing diabetes/metabolic syndrome over time.

Pictures or it never happened! Haha.

I have to charge my batteries today but I keep forgetting to carry a battery case. Better put one in my pocket.

I have no idea what I'm on anymore. I should go ask and write it all down. But that involves speaking.

It's bright and sunny out, and in the 60s, and I thought it would be rainy today.

I'll definitely post pics

It is here too, it's 71 degrees right now and breezy, goes down into the 50's at night, glad it's cooling off

I wonder if adding a stimulant to the antipsychotic stops the weight gain from the antipsychotic. But I think my beta blocker is making me gain a bit of weight (Since 2 months ago when I took two a day instead of one) because it's blocking my adrenaline.

I've been eating tonnes of sugar all my life. Like LOADS. I'll probably get diabetes and I would love to take metformin because it's an anti-aging medication.
Thanks for this!

Zen tangle is so fun but I haven’t done it in a long time, I’ll have to pull out my book again.

Have you ever heard of running a calorie deficit to prevent aging...it works in nematode worms and metformin activates similar pathways. At least that was the last I heard about it.

It's like fasting.

"Strong evidence suggests that metformin, through its protective effects and AMPK-activating properties, can help prevent cancer, cardiovascular disease, obesity and its consequences, and even neurodegenerative disorders."

"There is overwhelming evidence that single gene mutations in nutrient-sensing pathways, such as insulin/insulin-like growth factor (IGF) signaling (Bartke et al., 2001) or the mechanistic target of rapamycin (mTOR) signaling pathways, extend lifespan and health span in invertebrates."

It's not always a bad thing to lose your mind and it's not something you should fear.

Except if it's severe and you're severely hallucinating.

But idk maybe it's different with schizophrenia
