Mustachio is in heat Roll Call 192 I waited too long to set up her spaying appointment because I wasn’t sure if she was old enough/weighed enough or not. Now I have to deal with this situation for a month and a half because her appointment for the surgery is June 16th and to it’s the soonest they can take her.

I’ve spent most of the day with her helping to try and calm her down, play with her, distract her etc. this is what my days are going to consist of the next 45ish days. What a nightmare.

I have to go grocery shopping tomorrow. So I’ll be out for like an hour and a half. Hopefully she’ll be okay while I’m gone. I was going to postpone it but I can’t, I really need food.

I'm so mentally exhausted, tired, and stressed. I need some rest but am probably not going to get much until Stash gets spayed on the 16th of next month.

I already feel on the verge of a mental breakdown just 2 1/2 days into this whole situation and its going to last about 45 more days. . I've barely slept in 3 days.

So sorry Blue_Bird! Stash is probably as miserable as you are! Maybe the vet will have a cancelation and get you in early!

How did the job interview go, WA? Did it sound promising? Interviews are hard. I sympathize with you!

Blue_Bird, have you tried putting a heating pad in Stash's bed? It might help a little.

Also, Blue_Bird, I would be more cautious than you are normally when you leave or enter your home because Stash might try to get out to mate. I really feel for you that her appointment is so far away. Having a cat in heat is miserable. No one seems to know for certain if the cat is actually in pain, but I figure they are at least uncomfortable. How are Stash and Maybelle getting along now?

Cat nip might help be a little distraction as well. Just a thought. Esther used to completely zone out with cat nip. (How I miss that cat!) It doesn't seem to do much for Amelia but Amelia has two set reactions to everything, run and hide, or completely chill. With Helen Rose it calms her down some but not as much as it used to calm Esther down. Also I just think that Helen is a bit more rambunctious kind of cat than Amelia or Esther. She prefers harder pets for example and likes rubbing up against the sisel poles whereas Esther and Amelia only like carpet to scratch on.

Good for you! It's good to have a rest day! That's my day tomorrow except I teach a class in the AM. But the afternoon should be restful! I hope anyway! I'm tired so I could do with some down time.

Are you taking classes this Summer? When I was at Uni I would always take the summers off. It took me longer to get through school but those Summer days were glorious.

Gotta go to the bank after work today. Need to get my nephew a $50 bill. He is turning 20!!! this month! I can't believe he is that old. I can't believe I am old enough to have a nephew that old. I always give the nieces and nephews $50 for their birthdays. Although this one has been treating his mom like crap (my sister) so I sort of don't feel like giving him a gift but I am going to anyway.

I’m actually taking three this summer which is more than I’ve even taken before….I might have to quit my job even, we’ll see.

Thank you for the suggestions SK Yeah I’ve been very careful when coming into or leaving my apartment. As soon as I turn the doorknob she pops her head out and I bend down and grab her and carry her back in.

I heard about the heating pad thing. I should definitely get one for her. Maybe my sister has one I can borrow.

She has some catnip toys, she loves when I throw them around the apartment for her to fetch them. I’ve been spending a lot of time playing with her every day to help take her mind off what she’s going through right now. It’s gonna be a long 45 days but we’ll get through it even though it will be difficult.
