Went to yoga class Monday and swimming today! hoping to go yoga again on Friday but will see how achy I am!
I really want to quit smoking too but I am also having my meds reduced at the moment so not sure it would be such a good idea yet until I know I have stabilised.
For self care I am going to take a long hot shower and do some meditation.

I haven't been jog/walking since Saturday because I have a cold, so I feel like a slug.

For self care though, I'm going to therapy today.

i've been trying to find ways to shift my excess fat on my belly for so long now. I would like to have a flat stomach, I have been pretty strict with exercise and diet for about a year and I still cannot seem to get rid of my flab. it would be nice if I could work at getting some abs, but I know that working at them right now would be a little pointless because they would be hidden by my fat. I starting to wonder if I will ever see muscle there? or whether I was born being incapable to shift belly fat? even when I was at my most skinniest as a teen I still had a bit of a pot belly. it's so frustrating.

I like this!

I've only recently "discovered" exercise and nutrition and what a help they can be. I've been going strong until 3 weeks ago, but today I got back on track:

I will exercise at least 5 times this week - hopefully in the mornings and evenings (exercising in the morning keeps lethargy and self-loathing away!)

I will not eat rubbish (my healthy meals are all already prepped for the week).

I will not punish myself for my previous failures. Today is a new day, and I'm doing this for today.

Just got out for a jog/walk with my dog Douzey after a week of not doing it due to having a cold. It felt great! Now I will keep it up for my usual 3x per week.

Self care will be going to an AA meeting later.

I started walking again this week since the weather is finally nice. Maybe like a 20minute walk. I am buying the Fitbit Zip which is basically like a smart pedometer to take on my walks, and I'm also getting a Camelbak water bottle to promote more water drinking and staying hydrated in the heat

Went for a run/walk yesterday, the third day of the week. I'm slowly but surely increasing my run time.

For self care, spent some time with my husband: took the dogs for a walk, went to a movie.

Today no exercise (unless we go for a walk later) but going out to breakfast with my husband and then I'm not sure what.

Going run/walking with my dog Belle shortly. Also have a horse riding lesson later today. Feeling kind of glum. Hoping these things will help.

feeling pretty good! today I took delivery of a couple of
, these things are great! I have set out a new plan of action and routine that uses dumbbells. this is working in tandem with a new diet I have started. did a session today and felt good afterwards. feels like I am getting more organised and i'm upping my training to take it a bit further and trying to build on the muscle gains I made last year.
the powerblocks were quite expensive but I see it as a long term investment, someone mentioned how they still use their ones from the early 90's! they have a 15 year guarantee the cost means I have overspent on what little money I have but I think it was definitely worth it! they use up such a small space and I can do so much with them.

the bigger concern for me is protein cost in the long run. I might switch over to pea protein and just use whey as and when I need to.
this looks like a real bargain;
Pea Protein Isolate | Myprotein.com
for reference this is what I currently use;
Pure Whey Protein Isolate 97% | BULK POWDERS

i've changed over from keto/carb nite solution to this Bodybuilding.com - A Beginner's Guide To Losing Body Fat!
i'm doing a different 3 day split though. back and biceps, then chest and triceps, then legs shoulders and abs. and on the off day I will get in some cardio, trying to make it hiit. starting to feel a lot more positive now

I know it may not seem like a lot, but I'm up to 7 one-minute spurts of jogging, interspersed with walking. (Need to slowly build distance to avoid a fibromyalgia flare.) Will do this for 2 more days, then move up to 8 one-minute spurts. After 3 days of that, I'll be moving up to 4 one-and-a-half-minute spurts and 2 one-minute spurts. My goal is to do a 5k race. Not sure how long it'll take me to build up to that, but I'm up to the challenge!

Self care continues to be going to AA meetings and horse riding lessons to do something fun for myself.

Did my second day of 7 one-minute jogging spurts yesterday and my legs are pretty sore today. Not sure if, for someone with exercise-induced fibromyalgia, moving up from 6 spurts to 7 was too much or if my speed is too fast. Will do it 7 spurts again tomorrow and maybe slow down a little bit.

Hi newgal. I'm glad your fibromyalgia is getting sorted, albeit at its own pace.

I'm still maintaining the yoga and fitness regimen. Added a few new moves. Longing to be getting outside for extended periods, but weather is uninspiring. Just longing for a few connected days of sunshine.

It doesn't seem like people are using this thread . . . Anyway, I'm continuing with the couch-to-5k program, at a slower pace than is set out (to prevent fibromyalgia flares). Not sure how long it'll be before I can actually do a 5k. I get jealous when I see people jogging now that it is nicer out. Jealous that I have to take this fitness business at such a slow pace because of my health. I guess there's not much I can do but accept it. Either accept it or pay the price.

Sorry I haven't posted here in a long time, just got a new computer and have had a lot of stressful stuff going on in my life.

I am joining Weight Watchers OnlinePlus starting tomorrow. Also, I'm going to be talking to my pdoc this week about my meds and the weight gain I've had and if there's anything that can help.

going to start trying to eat healthier as opposed to mindlessly eating whatever because i just found out i have high cholesterol. that is as much of a goal as i can handle right now. exercise feels out of the question because i am always exhausted.

I'm interested in biking but my city doesn't have too many good bike lanes or parks to do that in. My goal right now is to be a runner. I have been on and off walk/jogging for about a couple years but had a couple health set backs (heart issues, flu, etc.)

@newgal2 I feel ya. I am sooo jealous of people I see running freely out and about. I watch them and say to myself, "Some day".

I had to do some physical therapy for my knees. Turns out, my body is not really a runner's body. I'm a bit heavy and my hips are not quite right for it. Go figure. But I like it to much to let go. So, slow and steady it is. My immediate goal is to get my legs and Core strength back up to par, focusing on specific muscles without overdoing it.

My ultimate goal is to job the whole way around the nearby park loop (about a half mile). If everything goes 100% well that would still take me a year. I'm fine with slow progress, as long as it's progress.
Hugs from:

Increased my time running this morning in the couch-to-5k program to 4 spurts of 1-1/2 minutes each jogging and 2 spurts of one-minute each. I know it may not seem like a lot, but considering 3 one-minute spurts caused me a severe fibro flare a while back, I'm making some good, albeit slowly gained, progress.

I am going to do one more day of 1-1/2 minutes x 4 running with 2 minutes walking in between, and 1 minute running x 2 with 1 minute walking in between. Then I'm going to move up to 1-1/2 minutes x 6 running with 2 minutes walking in between.
