Yesterday I went jog/walking in the early a.m. and then biking with my husband later in the a.m. Today my legs are really sore! I guess that's what happens when you're pushing 50 y.o.!

Today I increased my jog time to 1-1/2 minutes x 6. Not sure how many days I will do this before I move up to the next level on the couch to 5k app
Thanks for this!

well I had some peanut butter and about an hour later had a bit more energy and felt up for doing a session. blitzed through it and actually managed to throw in some new exercises, felt more muscle groups being worked. good session. was worried that being back to low carb might mean that I have no energy until my body switches to ketones but today has given me confidence.

Hi, guys.

Been a long time since I checked in on this thread. Here's an update:

I now weigh 175lbs, which I consider to be my goal weight. My bodyfat percentage is still too high, but it's something that gets etched away, bit by bit. Six pack is coming back through, so that should indicate roughly where I'm at. Bulked up some, and gotten stronger. I'm feeling quite good, starting to like how I look, which is a tremendous feeling.

I can't remember if I said before, but I was doing long-distance walks (up to around 15 miles lasting approximately 5 hours) but haven't done that in quite a while, now. I've been focusing on resistance and for cardio I get my regular walking (shops, to folks, college, town, etc) and my typical cardio workouts, like the bike. I started using a multigym machine, like they have at gyms, which is pretty damn awesome. That reminds me, I'm due another sesh - trying to keep it once a week for a good 40-50 minutes solid working mainly on the chest, biceps, and lats - so that's gonna be fun! I'll get onto that tomorrow if the machine's free.

I can't think of a lot else. Oh, I've been struggling with my IBS-type issues again, so that's been a bit of a problem, but I'm working on it. ¬_¬

College is going well, kinda. Finals coming up very soon. Scary.

Still stuck in supported housing, waiting to get out of this damn place. Flatmate is a pain in the arse and it's a challenge not to lose my temper with him.

That's it! Hope you're all doing well.

wow I was shocked to discover that in my 30's I'm stiff and unflexible....back ache in the mornings and after sitting for a while. Im sure working in a sit down job for 10 years didn't help as well as neglecting myself.
I now work at a call centre for a leisure company and so get gym, swimming and fitness classes all free! If this doesn't spur me on I don't know what will!
I did a yoga class yesterday, I'm so embarrassed at how unflexible I've become
Going to pilates tomorrow. Never done it before so not sure what to expect!

Did training today been doing great. Process is still slow to lose weight still can't eat a full time healthy diet yet I still look fat! I have gotten stronger with strength training and gotten faster I still do cardio just walking afraid to do running. Having a shortness of breath kinda keeping me from learning how to run it's hard for me to keep up while having asthma which is why I do things slow. I do need my routine to get pumped up more I have added more reps slowly and it has worked except I am still working on inner/outer thighs. Outer thighs gettin a lil faster and inner thighs have no problems at all.

I did a lot of yard work yesterday, with many breaks, but how many calories can you really burn when weeding? It leaves my hands and back aching, but it is not that active.

^ I found this;
Calories Burned by Lawn and garden

gives an approximate figure for each activity. you might be surprised and perhaps could be burning quite a lot of calories ,depending on what you do I suppose. careful with your back and that the aches are not the result of improper bending down and lifting or that you are not hunched over for too long.
I have to be careful with bending down and tying shoes, have caused injuries to my back in the past doing that.
Thanks for this!

Thanks for that link! You are right, I need to be careful with how I am bending. I actually have a tool I can use when standing but couldn't find it the other day!

I've been terrible at self-care lately while completely focused on those around me, so I'm going to try to stay on top of stuff here.

Today I did the basics like brushed my teeth, had breakfast, showered, washed my hair. (Way too many days when I didn't do any of those!) I spent a half an hour on cycling and did yoga as well.

Feeling much more alive right now.

I haven't posted here in a long time, but I'm starting to eat healthier again. I'm investing in a good pair of walking shoes, I plan to take a walk around the neighborhood 2 times a day 6 days a week and do some reps/arm exercises with light weights (2-5lbs)

For self care last night I listened to some relaxing music/sounds on my iPod before I went to sleep

I think I am going to buy a cheap pedometer just to keep track of how much I'm walking

So I'm doing this 90 Day challenge thing starting tomorrow where I have to exercise everyday except Sunday , eat healthy or as healthy as I can manage everyday, brushing my teeth two times a day, not bringing up my medication, taking it everyday without complaining and not picking my scalp(ocd). I want to see if I can make it 90 days and keep going long after that, that's just my short term goal.

Starting to eat healthier again, may add some exercise. Got an appointment tomorrow so that counts as self care

I broke out my Biggest Loser low-impact aerobic dvd and I'm surprised how good it feels to work out again!!! I have started walking on some of my breaks at work too if it's not too hot out.

Haven't checked in here in a long time.

I started eating healthier (again -_-) anyway, I'm hoping to keep it up this time. I began walking a half mile each day, which isn't a lot considering when I was in shape I used to be able to walk 5 miles or more no problem but it's a start.

I think the difference between walking and not walking, or exercising and not exercising is huge, even if the amount isn't as much to start with-great job!

Day 1

Had two scrambled eggs for breakfast. Having homemade chili for lunch. Not sure about dinner yet. That's a good amount of protein.

Made a pitcher of iced tea with NO sugar in it. Trying to drink at least eight cups of liquid a day.

I checked my weight... and oh boy it just keeps going up because I keep slipping up.

I'm determined now, I won't let anything stop me. Food will no longer control me. I will get to my goal weight. Every time I start craving something bad I am going to post here.

I hope others join in as well!

For self care I am taking my meds as prescribed instead of messing with them and lowering doses/stopping them.

Edit: Did my half mile walk today. Was difficult but I made it, it's a lot cooler early in the morning so it's easier to walk than later when the sun is blaring

I've started taking a b-complex vitamin each night. I've lost five pounds of seroquel weight. That's all I've got right now. I'm taking baby steps to a healthier me. I've cut back on smoking. Now I'm five or six cigarettes a day instead of eight or nine.
