Lol. I've not done that yet, but thankfully, my bar is not the screw kind, ... it kinda hooks onto the door frame, so the only thing that would come off, is the upper part of the frame, ... which hopefully won't happen.

Hi, guys.

I wasn't going to workout today, because I went to sleep at a little after 3am then got woken up at about 5am, then again at 10am, ... slept in 'till almost 2pm. x_x NOT GOOD.

Anywho, just did the workout, but to make matters worse, I started feeling pretty nauseous about 30 minutes in, so I called it quits at about 33 minutes. I didn't do too much, ... too much resting, but still did enough to class it as a decent workout. I didn't really wanna go until I hurled; wouldn't have been wise. I think I just ate something crappy too soon before the workout.

I walked yesterday for 40 mins early in the morning again with my friend .missed the day before as busy putting up Christmas decorations with family. So that's 3 out of 4 this week and 9 out of 14 last week.
Not a great sleep last night. Have to aim again for self care to bed in bed by 10pm tonight.
Thanks for this!

I have not walked in a long time ( it makes my depression worse). I walked one hour today, though I had to wear my heavy coat.

But, alas, I think people might give me weird looks if I went out like that.

If you can, and if your legs are up for it, incorperate weighted squats, especially if you want to gain muscle and the legs are good for that. Basically, bar on your shoulders, and the usual squat position. I used to do them a lot and DAMN did they feel good, ... makes you feel powerful lifting that weight while squatting down and pushing yourself back up again.

If you have bad joints, or a dodgy back, I would check with your doctor to see if you're safe to do this stuff.
cheers dude, it was actually your mention of squats before that reminded me I needed to work on this part.
talking of dodgy back i've had a recurring back ache or muscle problem this year, did some exercises today but went a bit easier on my back. I think I came away from it ok. I find sometimes it can be hard to judge whether i've done myself a bit of injury as I often don't feel it until a few days later.

Take it easy, dude. I like your dedication, but remember to look after yourself. Its a marathon, not a sprint!

I did some good work today, but if I fall off a bit over the festive season, that's OK. My new year resolution will be to have a real fitness month in January. Nothing greatly different to what I'm doing now, but a re-dedication of energy!
Thanks for this!

Re back pain.

This is an area were I have some expertise, as I have suffered greatly over the years. My yoga practice is built around this, as much as anything. I have found, in the long term, that postural awareness is crucial to getting and maintaining a healthy spine. We all have a good idea of how a healthy spine should curve. It's a matter of whatever you do, being aware of maintaining this shape, especially if you are putting extra stress on yourself in a workout. It's a good idea at the start of a workout, or just at anytime, really, to just check that especially the curve in the small of your back is established, and your chest is open. All else follows from this. Sorry for nagging!

Is anyone else having problems with food/overeating this holiday season? I'm a little panicked by recent weight gain and need to get whole/real foods back into my diet. And soon! Do you use index cards or daily menus in situations like this? Kick start ideas would be helpful if you have them.

Today for self care I dared to look at this thread again. I've been avoiding it because I felt bad because I haven't been doing well. Pretty silly isn't it. I missed you guys though.

My routine is to go to the pool after I drop off my son at school, but he's out for Christmas break. I need to get to the pool today!

Food's been OK, but I need to change the direction I'm going in. This is a tricky time of year for me.

I use a calorie tracking website, there is quite a few around;
fatsecret.com
myfitnespal.com
caloriecount.about.com
loseit.com

they can help with planning and preparation with things like macros. you can make recipes and input them into the site and save them. also set goals, and input how many calories you are burning. hope this helps.
Thanks for this!

Fell asleep at 8 last night. Woke up at about midnight. Fell asleep about 4. Woke up at 8. So got the right number of hours, but not the best way of doing it. Did yoga session and bike ride OK. Am going for a winter camping and BBQ weekend to celebrate the solstice! Then the days start to get longer. May have a few brews to keep the cold out! Decided to make January 'Health Month'.
Thanks for this!

I use a food tracker app sometimes call mynetdiary
Goals: before end of December get to the pool and start to do some abdominal exercises
Any suggests or links

Really craved the weights and stuff today, but wasn't in most of the time. Seeing the gym equipment at my dad's house didn't make it any better. x_x Totally obsessed. Just kept talking about weights and fitness. ¬_¬ I get to workout tomorrow, and I'm gonna go absolutely balistic with it! RAWR! Gung-ho. I'm gonna do a lot of TuT and really knock the hell outta my muscles. I'm gonna come away aching like hell.

I think one of the problems is media and shops. You can't even go to the till without a bunch of yummy crap being shoved in-front of our faces. -_- Try to avoid temptation.

Weight can fluctuate a bit anyways, I find... well, I found. I would say it's good that you've acknoledged it, and that you don't need to panic, because now you can work on getting on track.

There's nothing wrong in a little treat now and again.

Awww. :\ I like seeing your posts.

It's OK to feel bad, but don't see it as a negative to you, see it as a positive, ... it's ... hmm... what's the word... inspiration? Whatever it is, it's there! xD Sometimes I watch really inspirational videos by guys that are huge and really know their crap; they get me in the zone and teach a lotta good stuff; I love it.

Keep at it. We're all in this together.

I'm gonna be helping my dad, too. He needs to lose weight. He's obese, with diabetes, in his 50s. Starting tomorrow, we're going out walking, every day, for an hour if possible. I dunno how it will go, but it's worth a try. I'll be there with him if he goes wobbly. I'll make sure he takes a drink and something sugary with him in-case he goes hyperglycemic or whatever it's called.

As I say, we are in this together. You're not alone.

I went for a walk early this morning. There is a trail along the river that goes straight uphill. Five years ago I used to walk it daily. I could go up and down the hill eight times in an hour. Today, I did it two times before my body said enough. I plan on going again tomorrow.

One night under canvas was enough for me! Not cold, but it was rainy today which puts a damper on things.

Tomorrow I plan to do some step aerobics to give the heart and lungs a good workout. l have a good workout program that works through my laptop. Yourself Fitness. Haven't used it for a while as I have been using my bike. I also have a cross trainer, which is great for getting the blood circulating, but too boring if used every day.
Thanks for this!

I continue to make tiny changes to improve my nutritional ways. I'm avoiding bad fats like those in processed foods and increasing good fats. This means I need to work more on increasing the healthy recipes that I feel comfortable with.

Got out of the house today. Tomorrow, I'll try working on getting the walking habit going again. Also need to fix my darn sleep schedule. i'm leaving the laptop downstairs when I go up to bed.

Goodnight!

I love that smilie, it makes me sleepy just looking at it.

My therapist is on vacation, so I confessed my guilt, shame, anxiety and insecurity to my journal. What a good listener! I also got a new kitty, last of her litter, no one else picked her, so I figured she was perfect for me. A good self-Christmas present. And of course daily workouts to compensate for my annual 10 million calorie a day holiday diet.

My gung-ho attitude with fitness has given me a rather unpleasant injury, so I'm out for at least a week while my body repairs. Lesson learned. x_x
