Hi everyone,

I wanted to start this thread as a way of gathering a group of people who are currently working on loosing weight.

I gained a lot of weight due to side affects of a medicine I was taking and am looking to loose about 30 pounds. I was thinking it would be fun to have like minded people on the journey. I plan on riding my bike each day and counting calories through an app on my phone.

How much do you want to loose? How are you hoping to achieve that goal?

Let's encourage each other along the way.
Thanks for this!

i never have the motivation for all this weight loss stuff

i think part of it's down to the fact i'm a binge eater and i find that hard to control, and part of it's because i simply don't care.

but good luck

I'm trying to get down to 130ish I currently weigh around 236lbs, so I've got a way to go. It's hard with the holidays being here. I gained several pounds from Thanksgiving

I think waiting until after Christmas is a great idea. There's so much pressure on eating right during the holidays.

I would like to lose 30lbs. I gained quite a bit after I quit smoking, but that is ok, it was worth it. I've already lost 30 in the last 7 months. I ride a stationary bike and watch movies or binge watch TV series.

This month is hard.... I take in a lot more sugar this month. I tell myself I can as a treat I deserve because of all the stress in December. I have gained back a few pounds from the last two weeks because I've lost heart. I tend to be all or nothing.... wish I wasn't.

I'm all or nothing too. If my exercise routine and progress are not perfect then I won't continue which is where I currently am. It's hard.

Congrats on your weight loss! My nurse says its better to loose weight slowly over time than all at once. Just think in another 7 months you could be right where you want to be.

I've lost about 30 in the last few months, but not through the healthiest of habits. I have about 10 more to lose until I'm in the overweight (instead of obese) BMI category. That's what I'm trying to focus on now. Ideally, maybe I could lose about 30 more and be in the healthy category, but one thing at a time!

My husband wants to lose some weight too, so we are doing the 21 Day Fix diet from Beachbody (basically just portioned lean protein, fruits, vegetables, healthy fats and a few carbs.) I know I can't physically do the rigorous exercise that goes along with that program, so I'm hoping to do a short walk with maybe some jogging each day, and a little bit of light weight lifting. I'm nervous about sticking with it but I want to try. I don't feel very motivated to do much these days (depression) but I'm hoping I can make it rote habit and just do it anyway! Maybe it will help lift my spirits; who knows.

Good luck to everyone attempting to lose weight. I know it can be very challenging, but it's nice to see other goals posted here and know you're not alone.

I'm in. I lost a lot of weight in the last 2 years (70lb) but have been off my diet for a while and gained a little back. Tomorrow (1-1-16) I am going back on my diet. I'll check in here now and then. I will confess when I've been naughty too. lol

Good luck to all!

I'm loosing weight, painfully slowly but steadily. I started seeing a dietitian in Sept. and at that point weighed 2018. Since then I've lost 15 lb, down to 203. My first goal is to get to below 200. My ultimate target is to get down to around 240-250.

I'm focussing on a combination of following Canada's food guide and having a daily calorie target. I've just started walking in the mornings and can only do 15 minutes, but am hoping to slowly build that up to an hour.

I haven't made New Years resolutions for years, but this year I am-mine is to lose 30 pounds too. I think I can do it but I know it's going to take a while so slow and steady it is. I have been reading the breakfast club thread and I think that's going to be my first big effort, to eat a healthy breakfast, also to spend some time on the weekend prepping protein and vegetables for the week, and getting some exercise through the week-slow and steady on that too I wish everyone here the best of luck

I'm back at it with a new set of healthy living goals:

1. Workout 3-6 times per week.
2. Try the Aqua Fit class at the gym.
3. Drink more water.
4. Eat mostly healthy and track calories on MyFitnessPal.

We'll see how it goes...

I did try Aqua Fit this morning - it was a great cardio workout and it went by fast because it was fun!

Thank your for asking, Mrs J. It's been going good so far. I passed the acid test yesterday when I got groceries. Didn't get any pop (soda), donuts or chocolate. I have arthritis so I can't do a lot of exercise, but trying to move around more in general. After I get thru the worst of the craving for sweets I will be fine. I am drinking lots of water and I believe it helps to curb cravings.

I did have fast food yesterday and today, but that rarely happens. I plan out my day's food in the morning and try not to eat anything else. I do well if my schedule does not get disrupted. I don't really have a target weight, just as long as I lose, I'm happy.

I hope you stick to your goals. Some days are harder than others. Are you a member of any online weight loss groups?

I'm happy to report that I dropped another 3 lbs, and so now am down to 200, so I hope to be under 200 when I see my dietitian next week. If I manage it, it'll be the first time in 20 years that I've been under 200.

I don't have any suggestions at this time. I was wondering if you were because you would get more interaction on a fitness forum than here. Don't leave here tho! lol

I have to lose a few pounds, not much really, but as I follow a vegan diet I lose weight naturally or maintain my desired weight.

Down another 2 lbs to 198, So I've cracked the 200 barrier. Now it's another 40 -50 to go. I had to go out and buy all new pants as my old pants were practically falling off me.

Hello, newbie here! I've struggled with my weight most of my life. Since moving out on my own last summer, I've gained about 70 lbs on top of the 60 lbs I was trying to lose already. Right now, I'd feel good if I lost about 100 lbs, to get a good 10+ lbs under 200. From there I'll probably set a new goal, but it's been so long since I was under 200 lbs, just that would feel amazing!
