Can you tell me what you do to hide cuts on the forearm in warm weather? They were easy to hide in long sleeves, now it's short sleeve weather.

ive never found a way except long sleeves. maybe get some of those really thin long sleeve shirts that you can wear under t-shirts? i saw some at Pac Sun on sale a couple days a go. I hope you can get past SI so you wont have to worry about hiding it. It was a real pain when I had to try to hide it. *hugs*

good luck.

Stage makeup. I have a stage makeup kit lying around the house so I use the foundation from that because it is specifically designed to hide scars, tattoos, and all other sorts of things. It works better than regular foundation because it is thicker..but you have to be careful to blend it in right or it is really obvious.

I agree with silversparrow... Make up is the only way I can hide mine, also, putting aloe vera on them really eases the redness

You can get it online at Ben Nye. They are one of the best stage makeup companines ever..this is really off subject but they make stage blood that taste like mint..I learned that in my stage makeup workshop I just thought that was really intersting sorry. Oh and make sure to get the right skin tone..or it looks really weird..I had this problem during "complete history of america abriged". Also apply lighly..it goes on really thick..you may have to play around with it to find the right amount.
You can also check local costume shops. If you have any questions just ask..I was makeup director for one of the high school shows and I've been to a few workshops on it so I know the basics on blending and shading!!

Do you put it all over your arms?

I have scars all over, so can I use stage make-up for that? Or is it just for small scars?

It should work on large areas like on an arm. You would have to try it out..I've only used it on small areas and have only been taught how to use it on small areas..and face application. But I'm pretty sure it would work.

keep them out of the sun... the scars show more if they get tanned or burned... there are creams that help them heal faster and without as much scaring...lyn

does the stage makeup cost much? And is it effective on all scars or more for ones that have started to fade?
So far the only solution I have found to be most effective is the long sleeves; muslin-type material that is really light...

Hiding Cuts

I have not worn short sleeves for over 10 years. But I never heard of stage make-up as an answer.

I know stage makeup is a little weird but that is what I get for being a drama nerd LOL. It does work on older scars and newer ones..that is actually how I came across the idea. I have a nice sized scar on my knee from playing tag when I was little so I figured if the makeup could cover up a tattoo why couldn't cover up a scar. I used it to cover up it up for prom last year and nobody noticed. If your going to use stage makeup you'll want to get a personal kit..they run about 16 dollars but will last for years. You start out with the darker base, cover with the lighter one that comes in the tray and then powder. I use long sleeves alot in the summer just because the makeup is a little time consuming.

agree with babyg - aloe vera helps the healing process. I tend to cut on stomach, groin area and thighs so that it is easier to hide. When I do cut arms I try to make it random ones that can be explained away.

not always easy but try to clean cuts as soon as possible - with clean water and then leave open for as long as possible.

You could also try a green concealer underneath any foundation that you are using... the green will help tone down any red scars or marks

I'll send you a link, they have a catalogue of make-up products including Ben Nye
http://www.makeupeffects.co.uk/

They also have dermacolour camouflage make-up aswell, which has proved to be very effective, try one of the mixed pallets out to find out your exact match or use the different shades for all seasons as skin colour tends to change through the year

You could ace bandage your arm up. Make sure you include part of your wrist. Most people will be inclined to think you have a wrist injury vs SI.

If your friends/family don't know you SI it might be more difficult to conceal with just an ace bandage.

I assume your seeking treatment for your SI?

I don't cover the scars on my forearms when I go out. If I have a cut that is fresh or red, then I bandage that. Otherwise, I can't be bothered-- if someone had a burns or scars resulting from accidents, they probably wouldn't-- so why should I? It's just part of me now so I don't give %#@&#! what people think. As far as my legs, those are kept covered by now only because I have 50+ scars on my calves that are still bright red. Once they fade and are just scars without so much color, I will resume wearing skirts. Everyone in the world has their %#@&#!, and this is mine. I'm not covering or restricting myself anymore. I spent too long trying to do that.

Ben Nye is a stage makeup company one of the best in stagemakeup and they are very resonably priced.

Im kinda in two minds about hiding mine or not...

In a sense I have a very positive attitude about it and I want to go out - showing my scars or not - and not give an f.c.u.k about it.

But with those around me who I love... I think its because Im respectful towards them that I hide my scars because I know it upsets them and they dont want to really see what damage I have done to my body...

But anyone else? %#@&#! em
