I was talking to my AA sponsor tonight and we were talking about dealing with past abuse issues. She was talking about being abused on the street in New York City and it made me think of something.

When I was in the 8th grade we took a class trip to NY to see a broadway play. I was in a catholic grammer school and very naive. We were standing on the sidewalk and it was sooooo crowded. A man came up and was smiling at me - he wouldn't stop and at first I just kept smiling back. Then I realized he was exposing himself and had an erection. I just screamed and he ran away.

I realized tonight while talking about it that I have always said I hated NY city and I never realized why. This happened when I was 13 and at 42 I'm still saying I hate it when I haven't been there in almost 30 years! I also realized this is when I developed my intense dislike for being in crowds. Never realized where that came from.

It's interesting how things can still unfold........

((((((((((((((((((tranquility)))))))))))))))))))))))

I'm so sorry this happened to you. Someone did that to me too when I was about the same age, only it happened on a sidewalk in a neighborhood around dusk. No one was around, just me and the exposer....scared the bejesus outta me and I ran as fast as I could as far as I could. It was the first time I had seen a man's penis and I wasn't at all impressed. At that point, I realized that people did stupid, perverted things, and I wasn't going to let it get to me. He was just one idiot who happened to cross my path and I'm sure he has suffered in his life a lot more than I have! And I pray no one else has suffered because of him.

I hope you can work through this to your benefit hon. I completely understand how you feel. Again, I'm sorry that happened to you! New realization

dang. i hope my second cousin doesn't have problem regarding a guy exposing himself to her while she was walking to her high school. yeah, she immediately called the cops even though he ran off and got ahold of my mom. my mom took off and took care of her before taking her school. sheesh, i'm trying to remember how old she was at that time. maybe, 15, i'm not sure. sheesh.
