Thinking of taking my son to Dom's bakery for breakfast. I'll skip the donuts and just have black coffee though. Had a protein shake for my usual breakfast.

Decided to go with protein shake and either cheese or bacon or deli ham for breakfast this week. I've had eggs for the last two weeks and I need a break! The Atkins shakes are delicious.

Making jalapeño popper chicken casserole for dinner tonight. I think it will be delicious.

I've never tried protein shakes before, but a lot of people at my work drink them. Maybe I should too. Even the work cafeteria makes them in the mornings.

I've seen a lot of recipes online that use cottage cheese as the base. Might try that. e.g., Skinny High Protein Oreo Milkshake - earthly taste

What kind of protein shakes do you guys drink?

That's the basic brand I use. I get a bigger jar and like the peanut butter chocolate flavor.

I drink the ready made Atkins shakes. I'm too lazy to prepare from powder. I want premier protein but they don't sell it anywhere near me.

I used to use the nutri bullet and use almond milk and pea protein powder and kale and blue berries.
It was very good but then I got lazy.
bizi Now I don't anything for breakfast.

1lb chicken breast or thighs
8oz cream cheese
1/2c sour cream
1/4c hot sauce (I used franks red hot buffalo sauce)
Jalepenos (I used about 1/4c pickled jalepenos because I didn't feel like chopping fresh ones)

I just laid the chicken in a casserole dish, mixed up the rest of the ingredients (half of the cheese) and spread it on top. Covered with jalepenos and more cheese. Baked at 375 for 40 mins because my chicken breasts were really thick but time would depend on your meat choice. I'm sure tenderloins or thin breasts would cook faster.

It was really delicious. Calorie dense (about 500 calories for one serving) but that doesn't matter on low carb. Only 4 grams of carbs per Serving. I had it with some steamed spinach. Delicious!

how close to peanut butter chocolate does it taste? just wondering if the flavor is really good or not!

i'm seriously considering buying some before going on my trip to europe... maybe the vanilla or cookies & creme... as long as the TSA doesn't think I'm a drug mule trying to smuggle in cocaine

Thanks, blue.

It is the rat. It's definitely not one of those cute little rats.

It's ugly and disgusting.

The PB&c is really good! My friend gave me samples of a bunch of flavors and that was my favorite. Cookies and cream has black cookies bits in it so it won't get mistaken for drugs. Vanilla might....

I try to allow myself a bit of chocolate and alcohol each day. I am trying to keep it under 60 carbs so that is almost there.
The ground beef had some gluten free panko crumbs, unknown how much or what that was exactly so I did not count it.
I eat at a health food store for lunch everyday so all of my veggies are organic.

I'm not all that familiar with the atkin's diet. Is that what a lot of you are on?

Can you really lose a bunch of weight eating cheese and meat?

I was wondering if someone could explain it to me.

Meats and fish and oils do not have carbs.
everything else has carbs.
I am following a low carb diet.
I try to stay away from simple carbs bread rice sugar potatoes.
and starchy veggies too.
I try to stick to the green leafy.
If I am going to eat a starch. It might be some lentils as they are high fiber.
When you look at a label it will tell you the carbs and the fiber grams.
when counting carbs you get to subtract the fiber carbs from total carbs.
The trick to eating a low carb diet is getting your fiber in so you don't get constipated.
sorry if TMI.
I try to stay away from prepackaged foods and eat as fresh as possible.
I recently discovered that edamame is really high in fiber and protein.
while it may be high in carbs it isn't too bad once you subtract the fiber grams.
even non calorie sweeteners have carbs, they lie and say the are o calories when actually they have 4.
5 calories equals 1 carb.
With atkins they encourage you to use their ddiet drinks and bars.
They sweeten these products with sugar alcohols which do not effect your blood sugars so you subtract them as well leaving you with "net carbs"
Here is an example:
For lunch I had 1 cup of swiss chard cooked is 7 carbs with 4 grams of fiber so leaving a net carb of 3 which is excellent!
1/2 cup of beets had 8 carbs, 2 fiber net=6 carbs. collard greens had 9 with 5 fiber so net 4 carbs and beef had 0 so net carbs for lunch for me was 13. and that is how you count carbs.

For the record, 1 ounce of cheese =1 carb. and 1 ounce of almonds smoked(about 28 nuts) has 5 carbs and 3 fibers so net carbs =2.
So these are good snaking things if you get snacky before bed time.
hope this makes sense to you.

my 2 ounces of drambuie a sweet scotish whiskey has 18 carbs. straight alcohol has 0. my beers that I like have 20-30 carbs for one beer. No wonder I gained all of this weight.
I am trying straight vodka with some sweetener in it.
not horrible.

For me, more carb helps me lose weight because I'm not starving all the time (and therefore overeat when I fall off the wagon).

A low fat diet usually means lots of carbs and I don't lose weight on that.

doesn't atkins want you to do 15 carbs a day for 2 weeks to get you into ketosis. fat burning mode. They encourage a high fat diet.
I try to get healthy fats in my diet, nuts, avocados, olive oil, salmon.
They used to encourage eating cream cheese and macadamia nuts.
I guess when you are limited to 15 grams....
anyway I shoot for 60....think I come in today at 70 grams. so not horrible.
But have heard that you can still lose weight at 100 carbs just a lot slower.

bizi, your low carb diet is too complicated for me! lol

All I know is that I ate vegan for a long time, five years, and my weight stayed, more or less, at 121, and then I lived with my mom over the summer and started eating meat again (because my mom was nuts and thought my vegan diet was the cause of my bipolar!), and gained ten pounds, and then up here I turned vegetarian and eating cheese made me gain even more.

Now I'm fully back to my vegan ways and I'm slowly going down to my normal weight.

So meat and cheese don't agree with me.

I'm avoiding bread, and now I'm avoiding starches, like potatoes. But I'm not counting carbs or calories or anything. Way too complicated for me!

Still struggling to eat much. Small breakfast, usually a banana or muesli with yogurt. No lunch and a small dinner of some sort of meat and vegetables, which is usually a frozen meal from my Mum or I would not even eat dinner (thank god for my Mum!). Swimming for about 30 minutes 3-4 times a week. Lost a few pounds in the last two weeks but am not underweight. I'm not depressed but just can't be bothered eating and am not hungry. I am anxious so maybe that is it. Stuff going on with my (soon to be ex) pdoc is getting to me.
