My pdoc gives me a hug after every visit and once when I was in the hospital sat beside me and held me while I cried for quite a while. I have a 15 year relationship with her though and it was no contact for at least 12 years.

If your therapist hurt your feelings badly would you be able to tell him/her?

probably not

despite me saying things like it is and being honest, I don't think I could with a therapist.

Possible trigger:

then ended up going through their manager and reporting them

for me, their's no such thing as just " hurt feelings"

either you're best friends with me forever, and I'm protective of you, or you say one bad thing to me and you get reported.

no middle ground

name something on your bucket list you've not done yet, but really want to do?

Every time I watch news it triggers me upsets me to the point that I can't sleep.

How do you cope with special occasions (weddings, birthdays, holidays)?

My pdoc doesn't care so I said to him that it feels like you want get rid of me and he didn't answer my question. Instead he said like no we don't have lifelong relationships with patients so I got upset again

ragingvortex, I feel like I've done so many things and traveled so many places in my life, despite my bad years. I wouldn't call it exactly a bucket list item, but getting back to at least part-time work is a real goal of mine that I look forward to doing after years on disability. Though I'd probably never have the courage to do it, I bet hang gliding would feel marvelous, if fear could be blown out the door. I envy birds flying. I've had many flying night dreams in my life and all were wonderful.

Olga, my husband and I have established a tradition of going to beaches in Florida every Thanksgiving to avoid family dinners with my dad. We rarely get together for birthdays anymore. I do spend Christmas with my family, but it is always horrible because of my dad. I take a benzo before going.

Question: Who is the most supportive person for you? And what about them (or that they do) makes them thus?

Can I say my dog even though you said person? He's my best buddy who gives great cuddles and will go for a walk or play with me any time.

Q: Do you have trouble focusing or concentration? Is there anything that helps if you do struggle?

I can focus for a short time

in the case of a tv show/ movie, 15 to 30 minits (so I have to split it up in to diffrent days), where each day I watch a certain amount of that show

in the case of reading... I can't focus at all
anything else... I guess it depends what it is.

I remember at school I used to really struggle with focussing on my work (I'd do 10 or so minits, then **** around on the computer)

what helps to an extent is knowing something good comes after it.. do this, or try to watch this, then you can have some sweets or cola

childish I know, but if it works..

name a coping method you tried but it just didn't work for you

A: Cymbalta made me gain about 10 pounds (and I shouldn't have been on it by itself anyway, this is when I was being misdiagnosed as MDD). All the medications that warn they might cause people to gain weight usually make me lose weight
Possible trigger:

Q: Have you had any past diagnoses that you've overcome or been able to manage well (for those that are incurable)?

Yes. Emphysema.
I have recovered my breath up to par with my age group.
Thanks to vaping. Pulmo can't believe it. He asks questions about vaping everytime I visit.

How much was your most expensive pair of shoes.

I don't know how much exactly, but since I hardly go out, I only buy really cheap shoes- and I've had a lot of them break because I've barely payed anything for them

is their currently something you want to get under control?

Auditory hallucinations

Do you like doing a certain type of therapy like CBT or DBT or do you like therapy to be whatever it is on a given day?

I practice staying in the present moment and not beating myself up when I forget. I also meditate. I'd like to try DBT but I live in a small town and no one here offers it. I don't have a therapist. I do go to AA, NA and I facillitate the local NAMI meeting.

Did you have any addictions that came before your mental illness diagnosis?

No

Do you ever run out of meds simply because you forgot to stay on top of things?

Riding my Misty Rose banana seat bicycle and dancing everywhere.

At what time of the day are you usually at your best (or at least not at your worst)?

In the middle of the day once I have everything rolling, busy myself, and get away from all the intrusive thoughts.

What is the WORST medication you've ever taken (for any condition) and why?

I can't remember the name of it.

began with D and it was meant to help with depressive mood

but it made me more depressed than it did before I even started taking it.

probably that it ended

seeing as I had no summer plans (and it was hot most days), it was good to see the back of it

question: where was your last vacation

My husband and I went to Portugal for the second time this past May to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We spent our time in Lisbon north to Porto, while the first time we traveled south from Lisbon to the Algarve. The first time in Portugal years ago was the best vacation I had ever had, feeling great. Unfortunately, this more recent one I became ill with mania. It was full blown with psychosis by the time we were in the airports on the way home. My husband didn't think they would let me on the airplane in London during that stopover. He cried when we got on the plane. I feel so sad the trip was so far from being wonderful. I often become elevated in mood during vacations.

What was your favorite vacation of all time? Where was it and what did you like about it most?

I went to Southern France with my High School way back in June 1999. It was the first holiday I had, had without my family, first holiday in a different country as I had always holiday'ed in The UK and I was with a host family. It was a full 10 days and I loved every minute of it. Although my French isn't up to much and in the end I chose to study German for my exams. We went to castles, boat trips, theme park, beaches, zoo and a few other places. Loved it.

Question: How do you handle compliments?

You answer the last question asked and then ask a new question. So if the last question (which is in the last post on the topic) is "What is your favorite color?" you'd go to the reply box and type "blue" and then ask something new. It's good to stay on mental health topics but we all veer off sometimes.
