My bipolar symptoms are all over the place. A lot of ups and downs today. Not any outbursts or anything like that though. Just a lot of worrying and then periods of feeling ok. One brief crying spell about 20 minutes ago. My doctor said it is to be expected with the injections. Of course environmental factors aren’t helping either

Mums PT nurse called. They are calling all the PT heart patients. Every week at a set time they will call her and follow up on heart symptoms and just to talk. That nurse oked my going shopping during the senior hour. The store is open from 7-8 for seniors. So I get to leave tomorrow for shopping!!! We're making a list.

Mums bored today, she's flipping stations all over the place, drives me crazy cause she has zero idea what's on what channel and doesn't understand how to use menu or guide.

Sir is avidly watching for squirrels and bunnys they are out in the rain

I need to do a lot of things- clean out the fridge, mop the floor, take a shower, fold the laundry... But I have zero motivation. Watching another Lewis Black DVD. Its my favorite one "Black on Broadway"- recorded in 2004.

spikes, please take care. We want you to be safe. Alcohol only makes things worse. I know.

Moose, I'm sorry to hear about your liver. It's good that you will get the tests soon. I hope that if you do have cirrhosis that it can be prevented from worsening. I love Lewis Black, too. I really enjoy watching many comedians.

Mountaindewed, I'm sending well wishes that your mood will even out well soon.

Nammu, it's good to read that the nurses are checking in on their heart patients (your mum). It also makes total sense that you should be able to shop during senior times, if on behalf of a senior. I doubt that arrangement is available in many locations.

I had my first video session with my psychiatrist. It worked out OK, but his setup (equipment) was obviously not as good as mine. He kind of complained that he had been having trouble with the doxy.me. I really think it depends on various factors, like I mentioned. I'm sure some of his patients have troubles on their ends, too. I had had a little trouble with my video sessions with my therapist, but I've problem solved them.

I told pdoc about the risk to my husband's job. A very good news I found out was that my pdoc accepts Medicare. If my hubby loses his job, it might be wise for me to add the part B and pharmaceutical part, rather than whatever arrangement hubby has to make (Obamacare or paying more to hang on to the insurance he has through his employer). I don't know if my therapist accepts Medicare. I doubt it, but if I had to choose between them, I'd choose pdoc accepting the Medicare. We'll see if any of this is necessary. I checked and my GP accepts Medicare, but my gynecologist doesn't. I'm not sure about my nephrologist, but I could do without him, according to my GP.

Sounds very stressful.
Did your pdoc tell you maybe how long before things feel more stable?
So glad you can reach out here!

A Warm Hello!

Lately, I read far much more than I write. I have lots to attend to right here in my household. This ongoing stress takes a toll on all of us; yet, I've seen it take an incredibly HUGE toll on the elderly. My mother needs a tremendous amount of monitoring and constant support lately. I know she has been a very independent, very capable person, so needing so much help right now upsets her more. The stress is taking such a toll upon her mood and upon her physical and her cognitive stamina.

Many of us are using the internet to order at least some of the items we need. We are banking, paying bills , video conferencing even more on the internet. This level of need/dependency upon computers and the internet can feel extremely stressful, even hopeless, to our elderly.

In addition to my mother, my elderly aunt, who lives approx 90 miles away needs help procuring the items she needs, I find what I can and have shipments sent to her.

We have some elderly neighbors also very limited in their abilities to use computers, to navigate sites, etc. I have been helping some of these neighbors as well.

If you know of any elderly person(s) and you can help in some way, please do consider offering some level of assistance. Since we are to be practicing social distancing and the aged are more vulnerable health-wise, it is possible to help them to obtain what they need without much in person contact (if they are agreeable to doing so).

Much Love to All!
Thank you for bringing such needed information front and center

It is wonderful they check in with your mom!
Maybe that makes both you and your mom better about how your mom is doing?

Oh, you get out! Lucky you! Maybe you could pack an empty cooler so that things needed cold/freezing will be okay while you go out to breakfast or somewhere fun after the shopping hour has ended?

Apparently a Tornado did touch down last night and it hit a Amish community No reports of any deaths that I am aware of. They will fix and rebuild whatever needed quickly.

I am glad that a Bill has been passed to get help to people who are in desperate need. I just hope they get it out fast.

My daughters county in Florida has called for a lock down there is a $500.00 fine and jail time. If people are going out that truly have no reason. They are working to find a way to enforce it, Of course health care workers will have ID .. Most grocery stores also have name tags etc... so it will take some time to really get effective. But the fear of a fine and eventual jail time will cut down on people being out. Amanda is safe working from home.

I am shocked with this enormous bruise my husband has from that fall. It now measures about 18 x18 inches very very hard. There is still alot of swelling that has not gone down much. I am still dressing that gash twice a day, No signs of infection thankfully.. He is still in alot of pain.

I hope everyone is looking for and finding ways to manage anxiety during this very trying time for our country

You know,... It just crossed my mind that I should not have said any of it! I headed back here and found your response. I guess I have lapses in recalling the situation in every moment!

I think those lapses give me a break, perhaps.

I apologize to you! I cannot believe I did that!

I haven't heard anything about Amy's husband. They had almost 2 hours of info on state matters and cronoavirus but never mentioned her.

I haven't been up to date with your statuses...

How did your husband fall and get that bruise? Did he like fall down the stairs or something?

Hopefully it gets better soon. Sorry to hear that it's still bad.

Did any doctors give recommendations on what to do? Just wondering if it might also help to do a video chat with his dr (rather than going out of the house)?

Been very occupied with stuff, so, hopelessly behind on the thread and unable to reply really until I get caught up--sorry!

Spent a goodly number of hours in the apocalyptic ED yesterday. Madness. Like a Stephne King movie. Chest pain just got bad enough and, frankly, scared me. I never, ever go to the doctor. Ever. For anything. But this was different. So, I sucked it up and went.

All my enzymes and EKG and CXR were all pristine. Doc really does not think this is cardiac in nature, but I am seeing the cardiologist in a few days, despite myself. Have had a couple of really vigorous bike workouts, basically, a mini-stress test, really, and just zero pain when totally huffing and puffing, so really not sure what this is all about.

Crashed the bike this morning. Super wet and slick and totally my fault. Landed on my right elbow and hip, but no fractures, thank the Lord in heaven. That is just what I need right now...

Sending peace and love to all who are struggling and all who are not!! Wash hands!! Keep 6' away from others!! Be well!!!!

I've been watching DVDs and sleeping all day. And now I don't get any relief money because I'm "just" on SSI.

Eh, there are a lot of stipulations with the coronavirus relief/stimulus. A lot of people won't actually get money, or if they do, it's only a fraction of what other people are eligible for.

Right now, politicians like Bernie Sanders have pointed out that a family of four (with the children being under 18) can earn up to $3600 in stimulus money despite only making maybe $1000 a month from their job (for example). So, I think the politicians are fighting over how much people should actually get. Some are saying that if a family is only making $1000 a month, then they should only get $1000 in stimulus aid and that people who make more should get more. However, there is still a salary consideration limit where anyone making above $95,000 gets nothing, while people who make between $75,000 and $94,999 can get a partial amount (e.g., they may get 50% of what people who make less than $75,000 are eligible for).

So, needless to say, it's complicated. I'm not saying I agree or disagree; I'm just sharing what I know.

People up here and in California tend to have very high salaries, where it's not uncommon for a lot of people to make $100k or more. The average salary in Boston alone is $77k, so automatically, a ton of people aren't eligible for the full check. So it really doesn't help out people in the northeast who have higher rents to pay, like $2700 a month. (I'm not saying they do or don't deserve a check. I'm just pointing out that it won't help out most people in Boston, NY, or California.)

The other thing is, there is so much disagreement on who gets money and how much that people probably won't see a stimulus check for a month or more. Lots of places are allowing delays on paying rent, etc., but at some point, they will no longer be able to afford to give people delays. The landlords have to make money too, and pay their staff. So by the time the check comes to everyone's house, a lot of damage will have been done when people are forced to dip into their savings (if they have any) to pay their bills. I'm not saying the check won't ultimately help, but it'll come after the financial damage has been done.

More info here: Coronavirus relief money: How much you could receive and how the government will get it to you

He might do so soon.

My Governor is a very smart guy and he just gave his executive order today.
I know each state is affected a bit differently; yet, I think some governors were waiting to hear more on the stimulus money. If the cases are low enough in their states , they might postpone issuing an order so far/yet.

I get impatient with them. So many say: Oh, we need to just pay attention to the hot spots for now. Well, we do not want MORE hot spots, so let's move it and prevent whatever we can prevent instead of reacting after the fact.

Love and Good Health to ALL!

Well I made it to waiting 4 weeks more to find out whether the increased dose of Remeron works.

I'm still depressed but, I'm having what I would call positive dreams. I wake up feeling good because of what I dreamt. I don't remember the dreams though. The positive feeling goes away pretty quickly as the depression comes back but I'll take a little positivity however short it is.

So maybe it's starting to work after all these weeks. I dunno.

I'm still pretty depressed though. Negative thoughts about the past and future, and I have body pains. My present isn't all that great but I try hard to enjoy little things even if it lasts only a few moments.

My wife and I helped an elderly acquaintance create an email address, showed her how to use it, signed up for online billing for one of her utilities, and helped her pay the bill. It's all easy stuff for us but this person is in their 70s and has difficulty with it. Kudos to her for wanting to learn.

It did mean that we had to break the social distancing rules because we had to show her how to use her phone etc. Hopefully things will turn out ok.

The plus side to this is that my family is home and we get to see each other more often. My eldest son might come home this weekend to ride out the virus with us instead of being alone. We'll all have to isolate for 2 weeks if he does come but we are prepared for that, we have enough food to keep us going.

We are supporting our friends that are self isolating by buying them groceries. We drop it off at their door and call them to pick it up after we leave.

Interesting times!

I feel depressed and dirty. Maybe I'll wash my hair at least before I go to bed. Its the most I feel like mustering right now. I did bleach water door knobs, toilet handles, faucet handles, my computer keyboard and of course I washed my hands- again! I hope our two gallons of bleach last us for the duration. You don't need much in the water so that's good.
