I fell asleep fairly quickly for having the TV on all day and right until I went to bed. I was asleep before 8. I woke up a few minutes before 4. The song When I Come Around by Green Day was playing. It was fine to wake up at that time, I was just bored.

Slept great. Wonderful dreams. Was at a bus stop where there was a food place. Ordered food but had trouble digging the checkbook out. On the bus was a classroom. Had instructions to sketch a loose interpretation of Superman. Like man of my dreams that have busses the Downton was old brick building with gargoyles and looking more European than American.

I was really tired but I still fell asleep at my normal time except without my headphones. So I woke up right around 10. At first I felt ok then I realized I was really hungry but I didn't want to eat anything. So I just stayed up until midnight and then took my AM topamax and another melatonin. I went back to sleep around 12:30 and I woke up at 4. I feel ok I just could have used more water with the topamax. So my stomach is slightly off.

Dawn, that’s how I think of dreams too. Wonderful places to travel to. Last night I went shopping at a wonderful Target and two other high end department like stores, it was Christmas time so everything was sparkling. Then I woke up to a very foggy day.

I had a little trouble falling asleep last night so I tried the weighted blanket. At first it didn't seem to do anything, but I did fall asleep and got several hours.
I'd had 5 days, I think, of normal sleep, so maybe I just didn't need much. I wanted it though. So piggy I am.

I ordered some melatonin in case I'm back to the fight to sleep. Yeah, fighting isn't restful, but I don't give up easily. Maybe I could work on my attitude though. I think insomnia is a@#$!. Maybe I could try to make friends with it. An unlikely friendship, but--it's another thing to try. Let's see, a list of what's good about insomnia.

1. You get to be on a cool forum
2. You can work on things you didn't finish during the day.

I slept pretty well. From about 6:30 until 4. I thought I'd be up at 1 something but I got back to sleep right away.

Didn’t sleep at all last night. Tossing and turning was still awake when the alarm went off. Canceled my aqua class and went back to bed. Did then get a couple hours before I had to take mum in for her hair cut.

I woke up around 1:20. It wasn't a big deal since I had several good nights in a row, I just had to deal with that boredom of being up all night.

I woke up last night & stayed awake & I feel the same as when I sleep until early morning. I don't know when I fell asleep last night, so maybe I got the same amount of sleep, about 3 hours at best. Anyway, I'll be so glad when I finally regain my good sleep cycle of about 5 years ago. I pray for that.

Yay Nammu !! So happy you slept!

Dawn I’m sorry your sleep is so brief does your sleep or lack of it come during certain times of the year ?

I had broken sleep so altho I got some I feel like I didn’t.

I truly believe if a person with Bipolar got good deep sleep every night our Bipolar would be much more manageable.

Thank you, Christina. I do feel more depressed & anxious during the winter & more uplifted during Spring & Summer. I'm not bipolar. More like schizoaffective, depressive type. My sleep problems are causing a lot of difficulty for me lately. I'm pretty sure much of my mental illness would be fairly mild if I could get some healthy sleep. Thank you for this thread, Christina! And I hope you're doing better.

I am on a good schedule so I take my melatonin at 4PM. Then I am normally asleep by 7. I woke up at midnight last night. I was anxious so I took a 10mil melatonin and a valium. I'm just now realizing that may not have been the best combination. But anyways I got back to sleep right away until 4. So I slept pretty good. It seems I've had more good nights then bad nights lately.

I fell asleep at 7. I woke up about 10 minutes ago. I took 30mil of melatonin at 4 and then another 10mil at 6:30. I was having a lot of weird sleep paralysis nightmares which I haven't gotten in 2 years. I hope it was just the melatonin but I know being on those meds stopped all those night terrors and sleep paralysis dreams for 2 years straight and I hope they aren't coming back now.

Yes winter has a way of really hitting everyone. My husband has garden variety depression and his med works well but in the winter it’s often difficult for him. I don’t know many people that do okay year round mental illness or not.

I’m glad you find this thread helpful/comforting It’s a good place to pop on and at least not feel alone in the joy of insomnia !

I've been up since about 12:30. I fell asleep at 7. I got about 10 minutes of sleep around 3:30. Its just nerves about today masking itself as anxiety about other things I think.

I fell asleep at 7. I woke up at 10:30. Then I got back to sleep around midnight. I woke up at 1:50. Then I got confused and I think it was at 3 when I drifted off for a few minutes. Anyways that was only for about 10 minutes. But then I took my AM meds at 4:15 and got back to sleep until 6:15. So I got enough sleep there was just a lot of waking up going on.
