Oh Christina, the post about mum and the heat! She usually goes to bed before I do, doesn’t use her blanket then wakes up cold. Instead of pulling up the blanket or getting an extra blanket she gets up and turns the heat on, often going around checking the water to make sure it’s not frozen. Then she sits up reading until it warms up and then goes back to bed!!!! 😂 but I usually turn the heat down before I go to bed in hopes she’ll sleep though it. But yeah it’s her age, she’s 94 and has a bee in her bonnet that if it’s cold outside she’s got to turn the heat up. To be fair she spent her first 7 years in an old farm house with no running water and no central heat. And her early days are still clear in her mind, she “forgets” how well insulated this house is, and that the windows and doors are double pained.

It bled a bit- I'm on blood thinners- and I think some of the ink bled under the wrap too which is normal but because of that it looks terrible right now. The wrap material was originally designed for burn victims. After the wrap comes off I'm to use Aquaphor ointment- but they were out so I got the store brand. It should be the same stuff, right? The attached photo is a pic the artist took right after she was done. It's my kids' names. Noah drove me to the appointment because it was in an unfamiliar area. I was supposed to just have a consultation but it was an easy design and she had time so I went for it. I may have to call tomorrow to ask a few healing questions- because I heard what she told me when she told me but my memory is blurry. I even had her write details on the after-care sheet but I'm still confused! It's different than when I had my other 5 tattoos and that's the problem. Noah and I got lunch at a local pub after. It was good but expensive. Not more than I've ever paid for a meal but more than I thought. Noah paid and I paid him back. I'm kinda disappointed that the tattoo is as small as it is- I was picturing larger.

I've washed my clothes, sheets and towels this morning. I needed to but I also wanted clean sheets because it's less chance for infection. I also got a shower and managed to do so without the use of my left hand as I was keeping the tattoo out of the water even though the wrap probably would've it the soap out.

So that's my new tattoo story. It's going to take 3 weeks to completely heal and I need to put sunblock on it once it is healed. I need to stay out of the sun until that happens. Wear long sleeves. Good thing that the weather has cooled back down to normal temps for this time of year.

So that's my story and I'm stickin' to it! Sorry that the photo is upside down!
Looks good I had one in memory of my wife.

I had my ink done on the 10th it is all scabbed up right now but I keep putting my lotion on it. It itches like a mother right now. This is the right after picture. The 5736 is the miles I rode on a motorcycle ride dedicated to my late wife.Bipolar check-in #65

Several of my meds cause heat intolerance and so I always have water and frozen washclothes in a cooler in my backpack when I do things like this. I didn't bring water because I thought my mom would but that part was fine; I had enough to drink before I was ok until I got water.

But I found my new weird side effect.....Last fall after it wasn't hot anymore I was put on a med called Trospium which is for overactive bladder. I assume this is the cause as I never noticed this before and the pill is the right color....My sweat is yellow. My mask had a ring of yellow around the areas I was most sweaty. I suppose it could be from another med but I've been sweaty in masks before this.

Sometimes I wonder if there is anything meds don't do!
I have Chromhidrosis which not all the time but a couple of time a year my sweat is blue. It actually stained several pairs of socks lol. I have not had the blue sweat in a year or two though I think it might be because of my weight loss. We will see this year.

Hi @~Christina. Hubby and I leave for France in 2 1/2 weeks.

Are there ever any yard sales near you? I know many sell clothes, and sometimes quite nice ones. I did, even for prices like 50 cents to $5. Some even give stuff away for free. The Freecycle website has listings of such sales and "freebie days" in New Jersey and beyond. Cheaper than consignment shops and often even thrift shops. In Czech Republic, the price of fruit and produce is MUCH cheaper at farmer's markets than in stores. For example, I bought a huge (heaping liter/quart) box fresh raspberries at the farmer's market for 25% the cost of the online grocer and 50% of the cost at the cheaper brick and mortar grocer. Similar for veggies like zucchini and asparagus.

I sure hope inflation eases around the world soon. If we could just end these pandemics already, and war. Plus, cooperate more, politically (no obstructionism, focus on only the highest priorities). And seek cleaner alternative energy sources.

I was sort of hoping my husband would go to a concert in Prague tomorrow, but predictably also bowed out of it. Oh well! I feel a little bad we're not going as the tickets were Christmas gifts from someone. There's yet another gifted concert at a venue, outside Prague, two weeks later. I think we'll try to go to that one, but it will be less than ideal as it is only five days before we leave for France. That's the trouble with gifts that lock you into a certain date. My s-i-l is skipping out of the latter as she is going with her eldest son to Scotland. Regarding our France trip, both Hubby and I agreed that we don't yet have an anticipatory feeling about it. Maybe closer we will. I will say I've been bored out of my mind. I want something to happen soon. This status quo is not healthy.

Yesterday was my 24th wedding anniversary. We kept gifts to a minimum this year, given our trips. I did grill up a dinner that almost compared to the photos otroo posted. Yum! It's hard to believe that next year will be 25. Where will we be next year at that time? I'll say that Hubby and I agreed that it won't be in the current house we're living in, even if we're still in Czech Republic. Our current housing is too expensive for our income.

@Jennifer 1967, I was thinking that BeyondtheRainbow really hit the nail on the head with that photo, too. I hope you get to go to the pool and/or any sea or lake, as well, even more frequently this summer. Sometimes I think of the old Calgon commercial ("Calgon take me away!") when I need a retreat. I suppose your pool is the same kind of thing. Hugs

I will definitely try to be down at the pool every day that it’s not raining. It’s truly the only place I find peace….floating early in the morning, alone, surrounded by rabbits, squirrels, birds singing, flowers and greenery. Very nice. That period of time I get to float helps me get through the rest of the year.

My husband had such a place in New Jersey. Yes, the wildlife make the experience even lovelier. His swim hole had herons nearby. He misses it so much! He is the one pictured in the attached near the middle raft.

Wild ! Thank you for doing NAMI walk ! Oh I can’t imagine walking in that heat !

Hugs to anyone I have missed my memory is broken today.

Bluebird? Are you okay.

Soupe?! When is your trip ??

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well this month I have been keeping track of every single dime we spend and on what.
Mini rant here… I seldom EVER spend money on anything unless we really need it. Id love just 1 shirt. I only have 2 that fit me well. I mean I don’t go anywhere but still I’d love not to wear the same 2 to see Richard.
But can I ?! No I can’t because we have bills and responsibilities that come before anything else. The last food we ate out was Arbys and I had coupons and we brought our own drinks and ate in the car and that was 2 months ago !
We have no one to help us to get by. We are responsible adults dealing with this inflation that is killing us. We are trying to only go into town twice a month …we combine trips to include grocery, pharmacy and my twice a month appointment with Richard which I may need to cut down to once a month. I don’t even want to talk about the food items I have just taken off my normal grocery lists completely. Earlier this month I was shopping and that Diet Coke looked Amazing but I just couldn’t justify buying it.
I have no choice but to find a part time job. We simply can not survive any other way. So whether I’m in massive pain or not I have to suck it up and do it.
Sorry I just had to get that out *sigh*
Hey Christina, I’m doing well, thanks for asking
My kitties are doing well too, I’ll post pics of them in a second
Have been enjoying waking up early (5am) and have started to work out again as well. Yesterday I did 45 minutes on the treadmill, weight exercises, and squats with resistance bands. I’ve been doing some yoga too. Doing it all again today, trying to get in better shape.
I’m going grocery shopping today. getting thin deli London broil slices and lace Swiss cheese, to put on Kaiser rolls with spicy mayo. One of my favorite sandwiches
I’m sorry things have been rough for you! :
I went to a swim hole when I was in summer camp when I was 12 and I jumped from the diving board and went down deep enough to touch a catfish with my foot…that was the end of that haha! Can’t swim in murky lakes anymore!
In another foul mood. I’m just annoyed with my brother I guess. He said “Tuesdays are tough for us but we’ll TRY to make it (to my son’s concert)”. This is just after his wife said my mom’s gonna have to make an effort to get to know her grandchild (my niece). Ok that’s definitely true, but they don’t make any effort to spend time with my son either. They’re not gonna rearrange things to come see his only band concert? He didn’t get to do any last year because of Covid, nor the winter show for the same reason. He’s taking art next year instead of band.
RS says I can’t keep letting these things bother me and he’s right. It’s a sad fact that they just aren’t ever going to be there for us, especially my son. Btw I’m referring to my son as CR from now on it’s just easier. Thankfully my mom and grandma are coming, not sure about my aunt but she would have been there if it weren’t for my uncle’s stroke, and his other grandma.
Ugh. I really don’t want to go to program today. It’s so annoying when I feel like this. Everything is.
He's a comedian I think. From years ago. A D list guy. He gets his name because he has a huge red afro. I remember him from some movie that tramatized the crap outta me when I was 7.
It's very difficult to just stop letting your brother's thoughtless behavior stop bothering you. I can understand how you'd feel hurt and angry.
When my nieces and nephews were growing up I went to every one of their performances and many of their school functions. I loved going! But it really hurt badly when my sister didn't bother to come to anything my kids did. I guess this is an example of where "radical acceptance" works for me...I love my sister dearly, but she can be thoughtless and selfish at times. It hurts, it angers me - and that's how it is.
I'm sorry, wfc, that your brother is not being more loving toward CR.
The trampoline park sounds like a blast! I once went into a bounce house and it was fun - also relaxing, interestingly.
Haha, that's very likely true about the D list.
I was acquainted with a lady years ago who had met R. Simmons and she said he was an ahole. Sure sounds like he is.
Christina, please, please check and find out if Tennessee will approve food stamps (or whatever the state calls them; here it's CalFresh, for example) for you and Steve.
Okay, it's called SNAP for you: Eligibility Information
The inflation is horrific. Both David and I have cut way down on food. And gas is a joke! Since this week-end it's actually gone over $6/gallon. Noah (our son) wants us to meet him in a town on the coast for dinner...ha, yeah, right. We literally do not have the bucks for the gas. Bless him, my son has a lot more money than we do & I'm actually embarrassed to tell him we simply can't afford the gas. He'd pay for dinner, which I also feel awkward about since he pays for us every time and he and his wife's rent (in San Fran.) was just increased to $4,000/month. Shyte, mine is $1,000/month and that is dirt cheap here.
I'm sorry, I went on a rant there. I am really worried about this country in so many ways.
I'm sending love to you
~christina please consider going to a food bank. Tell them your diabetic and they should still have some options for you.
That's a shame because the swim hole I pictured is in central NJ. It's a spring fed extremely deep old quarry hole. It does also have fish in it, though. From my earliest memories everyone in my family swam in shallow Barnegat Bay waters, the ocean, and ponds and lakes. I guess it didn't seem odd to me. I was initially afraid to do clamming, because they were the same waters you could crab. No one ever got nipped, though.
