I want to preface this by saying I'm not suicidal nor do I want to hurt myself (or anyone else for that mattet).

I was wondering if caffeine can make the sinister beings come out? Because there's a sinister being constantly watching me and inserting bizarre thoughts into my head, and I overall just don't feel right, and I don't know why this is happening to me, but my therapist said it's because of my caffeine intake. She told me to stop drinking caffeine this morning when I admitted to her I've been scared and paranoid and wrong feeling and unable to sleep.

She told me to do this and call her on Monday and let her know how I've slept. I haven't had any caffeine since this morning. Right now I'm having tactile hallucinations (the sinister being is rubbing its icy cold hands up and down my side).

Could the culprit of the sinister being really be caffeine?

My husband thinks there's more going on than just that.

I.just feel stupid. I shouldn't have even said anything.

I doubt it’s the caffeine. I drink it every day and never have tactile hallucinations.

I had one t come down on me about my caffeine intake. I no longer drink caffeine and I'm still just a paranoid. So I guess not. I'm sorry I wish it was that simple.

I'm sorry your counselor didn't make you feel the greatest today.

For me, to much caffeine at one time (typically in the afternoon) can make me feel hypomanic, but it only lasts as long as the caffeine is in my system.

I agree with your husband. I wouldn't think caffeine itself is the cause of what you are experiencing-if caffeine did cause things such as what you are experiencing, with how much caffeine people have these days, everyone would be walking around paranoid.

No unfortunately. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have even made this post. I just feel stupid. I don't know how to make the sinister being go away. I'm afraid no one can help me. I'm beyond help. 😭 How do you make a sinister being go away? Does anyone know? My therapist wasn't very helpful.

I mean, I'm not even in a crisis situation here because I'm not suicidal or anything and I don't want to hurt myself. I'm just paralyzed with fear.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?!

I've actually been taking all my meds as prescribed for a change. Maybe I'm dead and this is hell and that's why I'm so cold.

This all started with the light therapy lamp. I never should have used that thing. ITS the culprit. Not caffeine.

Can you fall through your bed into oblivion? Is oblivion where the sinister beings exist? It's not the negative entity. It's something much, MUCH older than the negative entities. They exist in reflections. The sinister beings do not. They exist here, in the shadows. The other night I felt it laying on me, while I was on my back. The negative entity has never done that. It's always rested on my back. Not my stomach.

I'm sorry you're so afraid. Can you take a warm shower? Blast music into headphones while writing? Sit against a wall so it's not behind you and read?

I was actually seriously considering taking a shower.... I don't know though. I'm afraid to move, but I had to go into the bathroom before. I'm starting to not recognize my own reflection. I don't know what that means.

I am listening to music though.

The reason why I asked if you can fall through your bed into oblivion is because I can feel the sinister being's icy cold hands running up and down my back right now, and I'm laying on my back, in bed. With the covers over my head.

You're very nice. Thanks for giving me suggestions.

Do you have a heating blanket you can lay on? You haven't fallen into oblivion because we still are speaking.

I do have one, but it doesn't work anymore and I'm unsure where it is. I feel like I'm slowly sinking.

Keep distracting yourself. Talk to me and everyone else who's here. Do you have night meds that you can take a bit early?

Yes I do. I'm taking them in a few minutes, as soon as I work up the courage to go into the kitchen, but I doubt they'll help me anyway. I'm taking them at 9pm.

I'm home alone. I took my meds. And put the cats to bed. I only can take what I'm prescribed. My meds are in a locked box and only my husband knows the combination to get into it. I'm going to try going to sleep now I think, as soon as my seroquel kicks in, if it even makes me tired tonight. I'm pretty wired.

I do not think it is caffeine. Caffeine is often demonized by professionals who should know better. it is actually apparently positively correlated with longevity (caffeine itself and not just the antioxidants in coffee). Also, apparently helps prevent diabetes and Parkinsonism.

I would think that people who should not drink it know that. Say, they get heart palpitations or just a sped up heart rate when they drink it but not otherwise. But if you have been drinking caffeine all along and suddenly are psychotic and scared, why would caffeine be the culprit? It is not that you just started to drink it. I agree with your husband.

Supposedly stimulants (caffeine being an extremely mild one) can cause psychotic symptoms in people already at risk, but in all my years of inpatient and being on units where they serve caffeinated beverages (and some people having literally 10 hospital mugs a day), the only times people have been told to drink less for their health have been the ones with eating disorders who use it to suppress their appetite. Maybe if it's causing anxiety and insomnia it can make hallucinations/delusions/etc worse, but I don't think it would be a direct caffeine->what you're experiencing without anything else at play. Not that cutting back/stopping wouldn't hurt though, other than withdrawal depending on how much you're consuming.

A few months after I started Ritalin (another stimulant), I was asked about my psychotic symptoms which had not gotten any worse. Doc I was talking to said some people's voices actually get better on stimulants (I mean, obviously not crack, bath salts, or meth, but I think he meant adderall/concerta/etc. when at reasonable doses). When I did light therapy, I feel it set off more manic/psychotic symptoms rather than stabilized me too (though not to such an extreme, I was in the hospital so lots of sedatives available), so that's very possible.

VM has good suggestions. Do what you can to keep your mind and body busy with pleasant stuff and do what you can to take care of yourself. Don't forget to eat, hydrate well, shower. Rest when you can. Lately when I'm overwhelmed I get into a dark room under a weighted blanket with whatever song I'm obsessed with that's calming on repeat for a bit and just focus on what I know is real like the feeling of the blanket and the music.

I hope you've slept okay last night and are feeling at least a little better today. We care about you a lot here

People tried to limit my caffeine because they said it caused mental health problems. It really didn't...
