Okay so I already posted a thread on the other board about the fatigue I've been experiencing - it's made me sleep away my spare time and my exercise routine has slipped badly.

My energy is better today and I need to get out there again and so I'm writing this to psych myself up - I am going to get out there and run at least 5k, even though it's cold & windy, I need to move.

Lets do this!

Well I did do it but not too good - slow and tired but worst of all old knee problem flared up after 5k.

On the plus side I investigated a new route.

Good Job! (Mind over fatigue but go slowly and stretch until the knee is more cooperative--also walking is easier on the knees and counts)

I signed up to the gym today - feeling apprehensive as I've never really done the gym thing before. Best thing about this membership is I get to use the pool when I like.

Had a nice walk to a friends house in the afternoon winter sunshine, my mood felt better for the brightness.

Thanks for all the encouragement everyone too

Today was a rest day I guess because did not have time to swim as I hoped and weather was so poor. Was very busy with work and then cleaning and sorting laundry at home. Probably burned a few cals but not exactly toning.

Well this weekend I did not do too good as I was working both days and very busy, I just wanted to rest in my down time. Felt a little sad as my running buddies were all doing a local charity run, one I have done last 2 years, no way I could run that now (even if I was not working). I miss the camaraderie.

This morning was my day off so I went swimming first thing - 50 lengths, most I have done for a long time and lots of dodging as pool was busy, feel tired after that.

Tomorrow gym induction....

Gym induction this morning - went well and got an hours workout on the cardio - wow, that was hard work! Went on the cross-ramp and that whacked me.

Instructor was friendly and other gym users too - I even saw a friend there which was nice.

Went for a quick swim after work, feel nice and limber now.

Have been thinking about getting a bike for riding locally and commuting.

Back to the gym - still feel a little nervous there (haven't a clue what I'm doing), had a go on everything and got sweaty.

Anyone care to join me? You are very welcome to post your own fitness goals on this thread and keep me company.

This morning I got up earlier and went to the gym, it was busy so I had to keep my eye out for the machines I wanted to use, but I managed bike, elliptical and rowing. Got sweaty again so the toxins must be flying off me HopingTrying!

I have my body analysis next week (measuring my general fitness/fat ratio) and weights induction so I can use the weight training machines.

I am kind of missing running and my running group, but this new regime is good.

Ok in the spirit of getting it back--for the longest time I have been telling myself I am going to go back to yoga again. I used to love the heated classes during the winter months. I've been chicken because of chronic pain issues resulting from my attempt. However, I now mostly only suffer when I am tired or the weather is cold, so I have been wanting to give it a go. Given what's on the schedule--a Tuesday or Thursday class will be best for my now wimpy self. I do walk 4.5 miles per day with H, no matter what the weather is....

That's a great walk distance, well done - and nice that you share it with your husband too.

I would like to get to some sort of yoga/pilates too, like you I did yoga years ago but had an injury. I was tempted to push my stretches a little too hard sometimes and I am not very flexible.

What is your favourite pose? I like the tree.

It's not a single pose but my favorite sequence is a lot of sun salutations done to very fast paced music. My hips are fairly flexible but I still like how a lot of the hip stretching poses feel so for a single pose that really feels good when I am warmed up, I pick half pigeon (for each side).

Ah, you sound a good yoga bunny.

I used to get muddled up doing sun salutations even slowly, and my hips aren't flexible like yours. Good thing about yoga is we can modify for our own bodies.

Just a short walk today in the sunshine after work, gym & pool shut early on Sunday.

Swim this morning and then gym after volunteering. Feel like I'm getting a pattern.

I do feel my energy levels are better than a few weeks back - combination of less hours at work and maybe exercise too.

Full body analysis and weights induction tomorrow - yikes!

Oh blimey O'Reilly, full body analysis and weights today!

The analysis wasn't too bad, my BMI is fine, body fat fine. My waist hip ratio is not ideal (basically I need to work on narrowing my waist - I am a straight up and down-ish sort of shape) and my muscle mass is low side of normal (particularly my upper body, no surprise as I was a runner).

I did find the weight machines a struggle at times, and this was with light weight settings! Also they were fairly complex in terms of settings so I was struggling to take the info in - me and technology do not get on so well.

I realise this weakness means this is what I should be focussing on but I am out of my comfort zone.

Thanks, yes I'll try mixing in a little weights from time to time.

I am making a decision not to worry about the waist/hip ratio - I think it is my build.
