Hope your migraine goes away Tart Cherry, they are the worst.

I got out for a run this morning, it’s warmer so it felt easier, although it’s a little blowy. Got a slow walk with my husband later too, it’s bright and sunny today and was good to be out with him.

For breakfast I ate a frozen yogurt Yasso bar and a couple little frozen yogurt Clio bars for breakfast. I lost another .4 pounds since yesterday. I was thinking of working out but I think my stomach needs a rest.

I did a 7.2 mile walk but it was cold and started drizzling. I got so tired of the rain & cold plus I was dying of thirst, I jogged the last 0.75 mi home though it was pretty slow as the roads were wet, and I had to be careful not to slip. But I was able to do it without any fatigue, so awesome! Practiced the plank, and now I can do 3 actual pushups in a row

@Tart Cherry Jam I am so sorry about your migraine. It is hard to exercise when you don't feel well.

@Discombobulated Awesome that you are getting your running in! Remember how you restarted running with Couch 2 5K and now you are running 7K!

Thanks, Disco!

I have taken a close look at why the migraines have increased in recent months and I think my reducing cardio and especially HIITs following the hamstring injury is to blame. I will work on prioritizing cardio from now on and increasing intensity.

I’m allergic to exercise but I desperately want to lose weight. Wegovy is helping me to lose weight nicely. I’m happy with how much I lost in 1 week. My gp has recommended walking on the treadmill. We have a treadmill that only my partner uses. It’s going to take a lot for me to get on it.

I was able to do 350 push ups with my ab roller after sleeping all day. So thats good.

I've lost almost 8 pounds on my own by making lifestyle changes and working out. If you really want something you'll work hard for it.

Very glad that Wegovy is helping! A word of caution: on these drugs, treadmill is not enough. You need strength training to build muscle. These drugs, if you do not counteract with resistance training, can lead to muscle loss. It has been written about.

I used to be on Ozempic (lower dose of the same ingredient as Wegovy) and am now on Mounjaro. I did not lose muscle, but I put in time into strength training, consistently.

The very first weight loss doctor who put me on Ozempic (I have switched providers since), herself a somewhat overweight middle-aged woman, told me that for weight loss, if you absolutely must choose between cardio and strength, strength is more important. Of course, ideally you do a bit of both.

You can go on a treadmill AND build muscle if you wear a weighted backpack. I can send a link to the product on the US Amazon. Not sure you have the same in AU. But I have read a lot about various ways to add weight to walking and backpacks are the safest and most ergonomic option. They are better than ankle weights, wrist weights, and the like.

Exercise is hard to start but well worth it. You will speed up your metabolism by exercising. And I've found even pilates has given me some strength training without even using weights (particularly with planks). Walking often helps me clear my head and reduce anxiety, not always, but often. Though I'm bad about walking in the dark, something about it, I love walking in the dark.

I exercise a lot (probably too much) but I think in some sense I'm now addicted to the feeling I get afterwards. I may not always feel like starting exercise in the morning, but after I'm done, I feel quite good

That’s so interesting. I’m losing weight and probably faster than I should be because I’ve had an upset stomach the last few days. I’d be interested to see what the backpack looks like. I have weights in my garage I could use. Nothing wrong with lifting a few weights. How come you stopped Ozempic? I’m going up in dose on Wegovy in about 10 days time and I’m nervous!

Yes I should definitely make a start. My psychologist was talking to me about joining a gym. Problem is my partner leaves for work at 4:30am and comes back at 6:30am and I’m the one left looking after our 6 year old son. I wish my partner didn’t work such ridiculous hours. My problem with going for walks is that I live in the same suburb I teach in and the town is literally littered with school kids. I have some weights in the garage I think I’m going to dust off and bring inside. It can’t harm to start lifting weights I think. It’ll be a start.

It's hard to find time to exercise with a young child. Before my daughter started school, I belonged to a gym and they had free childcare there for up to 2 hr. at a time. That was nice, but then H lost his job and spent several years teaching high school; we couldn't afford the gym any more since I don't work. But it's hard when both you and your partner work to find the time to exercise. I just never worked much more than 3 tries never longer for a month, couldn't do it., so once my daughter started school, I had plenty of time to go walking; now she does online school at home, but she's in 11th grade (17 yr.), I don't worry about her being home alone..

It's bittersweet to have your child grow up, but it does make a lot of things in life much less complicated when you can leave your child is old enough to stay home on his or her own.

I did a pilates video this morning. It was an express vidoe, meaning only 20 min as opposed to 30-35 min. but was graded beginner to moderate, and boy, did I feel it! 5 min. in and I was sweating! Still, I kept up with it until the end of the final series...oh man, that was plank but stay in plank, raise your right hand to your left shoulder then left hand to right shoulder, keep switching. I collapsed down a time or two there because that was HARD!

I wasn't too sore from my jogging bout of 3/4 a mile home yesterday morning; I thought I would be, I hadn't run in so long!

Weights sound like a great idea CrazyH, there’s a lot of evidence for benefits of weights for women and I believe it does help burn fat too.

I know someone with a young child who puts her in the childcare attached to her gym, it seems to work well but not all gyms have that. Exercise classes at gyms are great for anyone new to exercise as they teach the correct form. How about swimming with your son? You might not be able to do lengths but you’ll both be moving about and that’s good.

Swimming sounds good @Discombobulated. Years ago I used to swim a mile every morning and I was pretty good at it. I live in a rural area and the swimming pool is only open on days it’s above 28 degrees Celsius for a few hours. Now with autumn approaching that’s going to decrease quite a bit. The local gyms in my area are quite small and don’t offer childminders at the gym though I’d have to live more suburban for that option. I think I’m going to have to take my weights out the garage. Might get an exercise ball from Kmart they’re n very expensive. I can set up a little weight station in my bedroom lol. I don’t think my partner will appreciate that but oh well. We’ll see, watch this space!

I had a workout this morning! I decided to see if I could still jog any and wow, I was able to run 3 mi, but the last 0.5 mi was difficult! The thing that kept me going though was that I knew I'd pass right by my house at the 3 mi. mark, and I wanted to make it that far. I also walked 1 mi., 0.5 mi before the jog, 0.5 mi after the jog. It is very convenient in that the distance around the block I live on is just past 0.5 mi aroud, like maybe 0.55 mi or something close to that. I think the OCD part of my brain likes numbers that add up like that, twice around the block is 1 mile etc.

Now, however I am a bit sore and I think tomorrow morning I will be creaking along. I need to do some stretching, and I think I will soak in an Epsom salt bath.

My clothes are getting bigger. I need to buy smaller jeans. I'm just naturally not hungry. I'm not taking anything. Its all just willpower and working out.

I am eating less carbs though. I need to figure out more stuff today.

That Epsom salt bath was just what I needed! Though I think I still will be sore tomorrow. I can now do up to 4 pushups in a row from practicing the plank

I stopped Ozempic to go on Mounjaro. Mounjaro has 2 active ingredients, Ozempic and something else. Let me get the links to weighted backpacks.
