Thanks, I've known that I was pre-diabetic for a while, but I basically went into denial and didn't really do anything about it. My recent hospital stays made me realize that I better take better care of my health and I've been keeping better track of my blood sugar. The numbers seem to be increasing. I'm trying to be more careful about how many carbs I take in, but the blood sugar numbers still seem to be increasing. I have a routine doctor's appointment in December, but I might make an earlier appointment if they keep rising.

I was so discouraged this morning because my blood sugar reading was even higher then yesterday morning and I had cut way down on the carbs I took in yesterday. But later in the day they dropped some.

Then I had to buy food for an event that my husband was hosting and that I was totally stressing over. But I ended up trying to buy healthy type things that I could eat during the reception. It wasn't too bad but I'm sure glad it's over and that I got through it reasonably OK.

But stuff is starting to pile up at work and I learned that a friend is in danger of getting fired and that made me start worrying about my job performance and whether I'm in danger of getting fired as well. Plus I'm just sad for him.

Today is a good day. On Fridays everyone at work is in a good mood.
It is nice (for a change)

Weekends are always a little tough for me. I just don't do as well with unstructured time. And I always forget to take my medicine in the morning like I'm supposed to. Food is a particular challenge on weekends. My eating has been OK but I worry.

I am the same way. I seem to better with a routine and set schedules
I eat better, I feel better and I sleep better.

So why do I let myself do this on weekends? Self sabotage?

I wonder if I could come up with some kind of loose weekend routine. Just enough to keep me from feeling lost. I let you know how it goes. Food hasn't been the best but at least I'm still motivated and still trying. This forum and thread has really helped with my motivation. Thanks.

The same type of thing happens to me but usually on Sunday night. But wait, do you get any days off for Thanksgiving? Does that make it any better?

Do we do it to cushion our emotions?

What do you think?

I'm sorry I haven't responded to this. I want to give it a lot of thought but the holidays have been keeping my mind busy. Short answer: I act to cushion my emotions in general, I rarely eat because I am hungry and I sabotage just about everything I set out to do in life. I wish PC would write an article on self-sabotage and why we do it. I just can't focus right now.

One more thing. I take Latuda with dinner and get queasy afterwards. I have been eating bread (eating more) after dinner to help relieve the queasiness. I'm already shying away from taking meds at all and I absolutely will not switch to another AP that gives me carb cravings again. Grrrrrr

I do the same thing, I eat because I am angry, tired, etc.
I think that sometimes I do it to self medicate

As for Latuda, don't stop taking it.
See if it is okay for you to take it before bed instead.
When I was taking Zoloft I had the same problem, switched to bedtime and I was okay

I made just enough holiday food for the two of us and had fun experimenting with jalapeno and cayenne peppers and chocolate chip cookies.

Anyone ever tried lemon and cayenne pepper, or other foods for dietary cleansing and weight loss? Do they work?

I have a friend who did. She said that it gave her such bad
heartburn that she had to quit

Today it is -43 (yep, you read that right 43 degrees below 0) and we've had 30 cms of snow over that past two days...

Florida is starting to look pretty nice right about now

Oh My Goodness! I thought it only got that cold in places like Siberia. How do you manage when it's that cold? Can you go outside? Do cars work? Is this usual for you all in Canada? Do you live near the arctic circle?

I live in Northern Alberta, and -30 to -35 is not unusual.
We don't get into the -40s very often, maybe only for a week or two each winter.
Going outside can be done, but frostbite happens quickly if not dressed for it
Outside sports, walking, etc can be dangerous
Most people really don't go out if they don't have to. I sure don't!

Our cars have block heaters that you have to plug in to keep your block warm.

This will make you laugh:
Most people have electric starters for the cars. It seems funny to see an
entire parking lot full of running cars with no one in them

Not doing well. I'm spending to much time obsessively reading news articles and not getting work done that I really need to finish by 10:00, tomorrow morning. Also feeling guilty about the articles that I choose to read. Feel a little confused, a little numb. Just feeling bad. I could really get into a major binge.

Thank goodness all the food is downstairs and I'm usually too lazy to go all the way down and back up the stairs.

I'm going to try to think of how to take care of myself. I guess getting some sleep is a start and I'll set my alarm early so that I can get some work done. I'm going to brush my teeth, spray some neat lavender smelling spray around my bed, color in my book a little and then go to bed.

Feeling much better. Boy am I grateful for this thread!
Thanks for this!

My heart feels so happy today
For Santa's Helpers (gifts to families in need), I made about 50 pairs of
earrings and necklaces. ( I make jewelry for fun) and dropped them off today

I love this thread too!

I just color in coloring books. They make some cool ones for older folks that are more challenging but I'll color kid books if I that's all I have. I guess it's a hobby. I like doing it because I don't have to worry about doing it well or perfectly. It relaxes me and always makes me a little happier. By the way, I'm doing better. E-mailed my therapist and we have an appointment tomorrow. Thanks for everyone's support.

Glad you finished your jewelry project that will give others holiday cheer

I take old glass vases and paste colorful transparent ribbons on them and give them as gifts. I was trying to learn how to knit to give gifts to others in need but I just don't have the patience or the hand coordination
