Good to hear you are doing better and will be seeing your therapist

I read children's books and it brings out the inner child in me and gets my mind off of the negative

In Canada we have two official languages - French & English

Sometimes I read French kid's books for that same reason

I am an English speaker with so-so French skills

Visited my therapist. We went through some early stuff I hadn't shared with her before and it made me sad, but I feel better about myself. She wanted me to stay in touch this week by e-mail. I feel way more stable.

I keep expecting that someday I'll be "fixed" and that I'll have worked through everything I have to work through. And then some days I'm shocked by how something out of the blue can almost disable me. But it's happening less often and lasts for shorter time so I guess I should be grateful.

Tonight is my family's traditional "lets celebrate the weekend by eating yummy snacks" time. I felt deprived and so ate a little too much of "my health-ish" snacks.

I'm so impressed by how people are helping out needy folks. I have made earrings in the past, but I was always afraid they were too strange looking to give to people. Maybe I can learn to make "normal" earrings.

Sundays are rough. I had to come into work to get some stuff done before tomorrow. Resentful at having to be here instead of at home. Can't find my meds! Thought maybe they were here, in my office.

Trying to keep good attitude. Had fast food for lunch but that doesn't need to be a disaster as long as I keep trying to do positive, take care of myself kinds of things. Wish me luck.

Found them! I hid them in a random desk drawer when someone came in unexpectedly. I guess I can freak out over the smallest things.

I am trying to change my viewpoint. I only binged once in the last two weeks. That is my best stretch yet. I saw it as a huge failure. Like I had all these beautiful perfect days lined up in a row and then I ruined it. I succeeded because it was only one day in 15. Wow. Thanks for giving me a place to say that.

I'm not eating more than I used to really but what I am eating is totally piling weight on and I know it's my medication. With my back so bad (and my refusal to go anywhere) I'm not sure what I can do. I can force myself to do the mini walks and I can only pray they'll help. I got so off track doing that. Skipped a ton of days and undid my progress.

Most people really don't go out if they don't have to. I sure don't!

Our cars have block heaters that you have to plug in to keep your block warm.

This will make you laugh:
Most people have electric starters for the cars. It seems funny to see an
entire parking lot full of running cars with no one in them
Wow wee, that's SURE some kinda cold!! I'd never survive those low temps!! I'm from London UK and the whole country comes to a standstill when we have a little snow flurry, which is normally Feb or March. Many years we don't get any snow at all, but the frosts are something else!! Plus I always feel like raiding the food cupboards when I'm cold. XXX

It's hard to get revved up when you don't feel well. I hope you find an exercise or stretch that can help your back and maybe that will help to motivate you out of the house. Albeit you can exercise in your house by walking around the furniture, doing squats with the kitchen chair and lifting cans of peas. If you were exercising long enough to make progress then it may be easier for you to start again.

I too took carb craving meds that caused weight gain and have been back pain free for a month so I'm trying to get back on the exercise horse and convince myself that even 30 minute mini walks at 3 mph will burn calories (with a sensible diet) and help with muscle atrophy.

Glad you found your meds. I drove all the way to the office yesterday because I left my phone and work and became anxious thinking I would get an emergency phone call. I went to my mom's afterwards and stayed longer than anticipated so I didn't get to take my dog for a walk but spent the entire day with my dog which helped with my anxiety. Good day all in all.

A failure? No way. No way is that a failure
To me that is an accomplishment
Be proud!

I love spending days with my dogs. They're small and not really active but I love to watch TV or read while they take a nap on me or next to me. My little dog is under 5 pounds.

You must have ambition to walk your dog morning and evening in those cold temps even if she is a big warm Shepard

Been eating lots of warm flour tortillas at 100 calories each. Ouch! I must stop buying them but husband eats them too. I can still fit into my pants though. I feel like exercising. What will it take to put it into motion? I know...discipline! How can you discipline something you don't have?

I like the idea of mini walks. They don't sound bad at all and if our Alberta friend can walk her dog in the cold and darkness maybe I can put a sweater on my little dog and take him for a mini walk. I think my mini walk will start out just being about 10 minutes and then see where it goes from there. I love swimming but my schedules been totally messed up and I'm not doing much of anything to move more.

Congratulations!

That sounds great!

I think this is the attitude I need, that will help me get better, be happier. Lots of times I give up when I don't do it perfectly.

Right on Swim, you can do it.
Before July 2014, I had not excercised in 4 years
I started a little bit at a time, and just kept increasing my time as I felt able to

Go
Go
Go
You can do it!!!

I've been reading books about eating disorders, but most of them
are sort of preachy - don't do this, do this..almost treating you like a child

Can anyone recommend some good books?

I did a search for Eating Disorder books and there were so many I didn't know where to begin. I found a blog and a book referenced on this website that may be of interest. 10 Steps to Learn Self-Discipline http://blogs.psychcentral.com/childh...line/#more-278.

I need help setting goals in general. The blog makes a good point about compassion with accountability and mentioned here is a tracking sheet that you can find in the book Running On Empty: Overcome Your Childhood Emotional Neglect by Jonice Webb.

I made my own tracking sheet today by using an online Excel template. Now if I could learn to complete my tracking sheet with compassion I may be well on my way to starting over with confidence.

I just want to say that swimming was the exercise that help me to quit a 30-year smoking habit. No, I did not loose weight because I was substituting food for cigarettes but I did it!

Yesterday, I saw my psychiatrist, re-ordered meds (almost decided to go off all of them). Anyway I told her I was snoring and she attributed my lack of energy to that. She wants me to get a c-pap and a sleep test. Today, I called my insurance company and they don't cover it, so around $3500 out-of-pocket - like hell! Who can afford that! My husband says I choke and stop breathing in my sleep sometimes. I know if I lose this weight I won't snore.

Great job ordering your meds! Taking my meds is on my list of things that make my life work better. That and enough sleep. When I don't do either one of those, food is a lot harder to deal with. Today I forgot to take my meds and forgot to eat lunch and dinner was not too healthy since I was ready to eat anything at that point.

My husband has sleep apnea and needs to lose a lot of weight but even after he just lost just a little bit of weight his sleep apnea got much better. I was tested for it but the test was inconclusive. I still had to pay for it though. Anyhow, I had started exercising a little and felt better and I told the doctor that. He said that even if I didn't lose weight, exercising would help with my night time breathing. Beats me if this is true or if he was just trying to get me to move.

My husband and I bought little jackets for our dogs. Maybe I can take them for short walks with me during the Christmas break. I'm trying to plan ahead because I really rot at dealing with unstructured time and my therapist is sick and had to cancel and we hadn't set up a next appointment.
Thanks for this!

I ordered from Papa Johns yesterday which isn't exactly diet food but oh well. I have to keep rotating the places I order from or it gets too boring.
