Well, we talked about the positive stuff first and then went into the negtive. I told her how I don't choose to feel this way and if it was up to me I wouldn't want to feel this way. She said that when I get like this, real, real, low that "Adult Cats" disappears and leaves her with helpless "L'il Cats" and that is when she needs to be firm to get through to L'il Cats. She said that she knows that I don't like it when she does that but feels that her experience with me when I get like this it is the only way that she can get through to me. She also said that we need to be very careful because when I have these real lows she said that I have a tendency to want to go WAY up afterwards and she said that she doesn't want to see me go psychotic or start getting manic again. Overall it was a good session and it ended with a big hug.
Thanks for this!

Well I think that T and I are back to normal now. Or what is "normal" for our slightly bizarre relationship...We worked out in the gym last night. My body is SO sore now!

read through this, what an interesting relationship you do have with your t/pdoc, cats, wow!
sometimes, my T does use saltier language, like saying stuff really sucks, but she doesn't cuss at me, she doesn't use the f word, so that part of what your T said to you really startled me!
Thanks for this!

Cats, sorry if I have the wrong person because it's hard to remember who's struggling with what, but don't you have an eating disorder? I would think a T needs to be very careful about working out with someone who has an eating disorder because it can reinforce the body image issues. My closest friend has a daughter with an eating disorder and she works out because it helps her avoid gaining weight. Her T would never team up with her to engage in a behavior that helps her avoid the weight gain she desperately needs. That would be like handing her a laxative to quickly get rid of the food after she eats.

Doc: "You know, for the past few weeks you've seemed very disconnected from your emotions when you're here."
Me: "I'm not disconnected from my emotions. I just don't feel anything when I'm here."
(Pause)
Me: "Doc, why are you banging your head against the arm of your chair?"
Doc: "Because I'm not close enough to a wall."

It's official. I can even make therapists crazy.

Cats,

Do you think it's appropriate to go to the gym with your T, especially since you do have eating d/o issues, as Preacherheckler so wisely said.

You made it sound like it was planned and not a coincidental meeting at the gym - is that the case?
And if so, did you pay her for that time?
Is this something that happens regularly?

I know you mentioned you have a 'bizarre' relationship with your T, and that you've been seeing her for a while. But that does not necessarily mean that everything she does is ok, and it doesn't mean that she has appropriate boundaries. Please be careful.
Thanks for this!
