I have just written to T to tell him that I quit - it is all too much at the moment - lots of life stuff going on and I don't really need to be piling up past stuff on top right now - so guess that means I am not a member of this forum anymore - may check in to see how you all are from time to time though - Soup

(((Soup))) He still gets to respond, right
![]() Maybe you could continue but back off on the intensity of therapy for now, have therapy be more supportive for a while? |

I noticed you said you "quit" therapy. You did not use the term...need a break...stopping... Are you sure you aren't running away from dealing with the tuff stuff... because if that is the reason you could back off the intensity of the therapy for a while.. I've found that the life stuff has not been easier to deal with by myself and it was probably helpful to have dealt with some of it in therapy. Also you mentioned adding past stuff will not make life stuff easier to deal with. The past stuff is still there. What we bury we bury alive. Its not going anywhere...so now you will have life stuff, past stuff, disappointment from quitting, self doubt, and missing your T. terribly to deal with (basing on my experience).. My suggestion is to go talk to your T. about it all. And "Un Quitting" is so easy! Soup I stopped therapy and I'm still around. You don't have to leave. |

But no he has a way of avoiding my directness and actually responds offering an extra session! And saying to let him know a few days before if I don't want to go to the session - well I thought that was what I had just done ![]() Now confusion rules my head - the possibilities are there aren't they?

Just when I thought I had made the decision and felt OK about it - T stirs it all up again - I beginning to think that T stands for Terrier rather than therapist - how do you shake them off when they have a tight grip around your ankle!
The added difficulty was in the letter of resignation, for the first time I was really honest with T about how I perceive him and so now he knows - is there the option of going back but retracting all I said?......no I guess not - feels like I have just made it worse for myself. Hey ho - Soup

Soup - there are many on PC who are not currently in therapy, but if they can help & encourage others, or if others can help or encourage them, hey, that's why we are all here.
![]() Please, do not make a change while you are upset. Talk to yr T, and let T help you reach a peaceful frame of mind in which you can wisely decide what is best to do. I hope you'll not leave us, but let us know how it's going for you. ![]() |

I'm beginning to see therapy like an ocean with an ebb and flow, if your find yourself beached run into the surf, rinse and repeat!

I don't think you've made it in any way worse for yourself by being honest with your T about how you feel about him. That honesty is more likely to make your relationship with your T more real and it'll help him understand you a lot better. So, I don't think you need to worry about that aspect at all.

But you better not leave! I am with Hankster again at the moment (this could change rapidly!). I am not currently in therapy after the horrid melts that I have had in the ROOM. However, I am thinking I may go back at some point and am shopping for therapy and I am going to put you all through every gyration that I do! Ha! Please feel free to do the same, SD!
