Still working on it. They don't want to give out the finals because of cheating concerns. What the **** ever. If you want to give my kid (who has never even gotten a B on a quiz or an assignment before EVER) a B as a semester grade, then you damn well better give me copies of the tests.

MKAC - that is horrible about your daughter. It makes me cringe when I hear stories about vindictive teachers. I hope there is a way that this can be worked out this year. If the VP doesn't respond I would go to the principle and school board. Is your daughter a Junior? Does she still have a chance next year?

I will say that I see why you have your screen name. Your kids do sound really cool.

This kid has close to a genius IQ. She has 104% in her current history class. But, somehow, she deserved a B in the lower level history class. And not to get into NHS when kids with lower GPA's and no problems at all last year are getting in. Last year, she lost BOTH of her grandfathers with whom she was really close and suffered two serious illnesses at the same time (mono and the blood infection), AND still got a good GPA. And is she rewarded for that at all??? noooooooo

Um, yes. I think so.

MKAC, stuff like that happening to kids makes me see red. I hope the administration intervenes.

It's been a long day. I still haven't recovered from therapy sessions with both my T and pdoc on Monday. Both in one day is just too much. I didn't think the pdoc was going to attempt anything other than manage my meds, but I was mistaken. Oh well. Another pair of ears won't hurt.

Despite the fact that she has done at least four or fives times as much community service type things as my son did (working for charities, knitting and donating hats and blankets to Newborns In Need, etc), despite having great grades and incredible test scores, she was told that she did not do enough community service and is too quiet in class. I am just enraged on her behalf. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't know for a FACT that she has done more community service than her brother who DID get in, and also know for a FACT that she participates in class more than her brother's girlfriend, who ALSO got in with less community service than my daughter. They are still punishing her for missing most of last semester because she was so ill. It's like they think she was malingering despite all the doctor notes.

Oh, also, the history teacher who had said that he should not have to go to the work of helping her catch up or stay after school so she could take tests because she was just going to get a B anyway, did in fact give her a B last semester, surprise, surprise. I asked for copies of all of the tests, and they did not give us a copy of the final, and two of the tests they did give us that were supposedly B's, the teacher made math errors and they were actually A's. But, they still claim she got a B in the class. Thinking I should just pull her out and put her back in private school.
Bull s h i t. Utter bull s h i t. I'm so sorry this has been a rotten day for you. Jeez Louise.

And I feel for your daughter. You want to believe that the people who TEACH CHILDREN are above such stupid, petty, unprofessional nonsense, but of course not. I hope you're able to get somewhere with the VP.

When I'm in that boat, I tend to start by talking about how I'm not sure how to talk about it. Sometimes that leads to me actually talking about it and sometimes it doesn't. But it almost always helps me understand why it's hard to talk about.
Thanks for this!

I emailed her last night with a letter of sorts, basically explaining what I'm going through, how I'm feeling about it etc. At the end I said I need help in putting things in perspective...what's important, what will resolve itself in time, etc. I'm just a mess and confused and trying to get distracted isnt working. :/

Thanks for the well wishes guys. My bf just doesn't understand how I could even be anxious about going to therapy. He sees it as she's there to help, I shouldn't be afraid of someone like that. But it's a change, it's a new person I have to trust, someone new I have to try and "figure out" before I'm comfortable. It's too early to tell right now.
