One A Month Mom - Once a month cooking. I like this idea.

Quarter past midnight. Working day just ended for me - I'm nowhere near finished with this text but brain no work no more. Tomorrow will be another similar day, but hopefully without panic attacks. Craziness abounds. Also T tomorrow morning, which I'm weirdly enough looking forward to. I intend to have a better session than the last one.

So many friends having a really tough time. I hate that. You are in my heart.

To those who celebrate Thanksgiving, I hope you will have a good one. Apt out.

Here is the finished product, chicken and andouille sausage gumbo. ip 041.jpg

Chicken breasts were so huge(at least 38 DD) I ran out of charcoal and had to finish by boiling, which was OK, I needed the stock for the gumbo anyway.

Granite I feel your pain. Just got off of a 3 hour drive cross-state too. Traffic was crazy.

I emailed my t. Breath of relief. I will be ok.

Right? .-.

I'm glad you made it there safely, Sila....and that you made it home safely, granite!

Hankster - LOL....I have quite a few therapy jokes in my act, too....LOL

I just finished making my sweet potato crunch....Will be making pecan tartlets shortly...and then my daughter wants to make the rice krispy treats with assorted toppings tonight too.

Then, tomorrow, I'll be making the pumpkin bars with cream cheese frosting from scratch....Yum!

I went out this morning on my bike just for a short bit. It seemed like people took their brains out before getting in their cars with their cell phones.
Thanks for this!

As long as I can avoid him in the evening then I should be alright...It's when he gets drunk that I get scared. I'm sorry that it's bringing up flashbacks for you. I emailed my t, I doubt she'll reply tonight but if I get anything at all I'll be grateful. Just gotta keep it together for a few days.

H brought home some turnips from town...we have world famous turnips here. So happy, I didn't think I'd get any. Want to know wiki's secret turnip recipe? Boil them in salted milk, it makes them creamier and richer. (I boil one in rice milk for myself).

Mmmnnn turnips. I like them raw like an apple or mashed with carrot, sweet potato or squash. And I love the greens over brown rice. Glad you got some Wikid.
Thanks for this!

Are we talking roots or greens? My dad made turnip roots and cornbread( I even have his cornbread skillet) and I made myself like them and can make a meal out of just those. I do not care for the greens. I will have to try the boil in milk recipe(sounds great), I could never understand people who added sugar to turnips. Aren't they sweet enough?

I've never had turnips either, and I've tried almost every vegetable you can think of. Maybe I'll pick some up next time I'm at the store.

I added roasted brussel sprouts to the menu at the last minute because I remembered I had them in the frig. So I put them in a ziplock with a little oil, garlic and salt, shook them up, dumped them on a roasting pan and baked them. They are crazy delicious. I had enough, I had some for dinner.

I made two pumpkin pies, two apple pies and two blackberry cream pies. I have the deviled eggs done. The turkey is done and we just need to re-heat it tomorrow. The weird sweet potato casserole thing my mother in law wanted is done. The potato salad is done.

So tomorrow, I still have to make a tofurkey, the dressing, and rolls. My sister in law wants a kugel, but egg custard mix apparently does not exist in Kansas, so I cannot make it ahead of time. So when she gets here at noonish tomorrow, she is going to make it, BUT I have to bring all the other ingredients for her, and I forgot two of them, so I have to stop at a grocery store on the way to my mother in laws.

Sooooooo tired.

Oh, since had two apple pies I called my mom to offer it to her. I said I made an extra if she would like it. She said, yes, she would, thank you, bye. And she hung up. I had my husband take it up then, and my daughter went with him. They said that my niece was waiting for them outside and hugged them and said how much she missed them. My brother in law opened the door for them and just turned and walked away without speaking. My sister didn't speak to them and when my nephew started to speak, my brother in law glared at him. So my mother profusely thanks my husband and daughter for the pie. H told her that he was just delivering and I was the one who made it. So then she said for him to thank me. She did kind of thank me on the phone just before hanging up on me, but still . . .
