Sorry I meant good flashbacks - they were a great family. I'm afraid I liked all my in-laws better than my own family - lol it was just their sons I couldn't stand... har har

MKAC....I hear you about your mom. It would be nice if certain people would make an effort to be at least a wee bit grateful.

...And dang, you sure are making a lot of stuff!!

MKAC - I'm so sorry. Try not to let it ruin things? Could you have asked the nephew to come pick it up instead- maybe next time?

I love turnips!

Pecan tartlets are in the oven....I still have about 1-1/2 hours of cooking, but I'm soooo sleepy. That's what I get for having 2-3 hours sleep each night lately. The time I finally think I could fall asleep - and I have to be up. Go figure. LOL

My daughter ended up falling asleep before making the rice krispy treats with assorted toppings....So, that will have to wait until tomorrow morning, along with the pumpkin bars.

Anybody have any idea of what to do with leftover pecan pie filler? I think I have more filler than crust....and I'd hate to throw it out. I guess I could make more tartlets....But I don't want stay up any longer than I have to. I'd imagine I could refrigerate the filler and then make them at another time, no?

Oh, and while stuff has been baking, I've been making earrings. But now I'm too tired to do that. I'll just complain about how tired I am on here, k? LOL

MKAC - I'm sorry about the family issues. It's really sad when people act like that.

MUE - The only thing I can think of off hand is use it as an ice cream topping.
Thanks for this!

LOL, Sally!

.....Love the ideas! Thanks!

Another 20 minutes in the oven....then some cooling time...and I'm gonna get my arse to bed! I don't care that the kitchen looks like a bomb went off in it....well, actually, I kinda do care cuz I need to bake early tomorrow morning too - and I wouldn't want to wake up to a kitchen looking like this....

(trudging my butt back into the kitchen to clean....grrr....)

I made my pumpkin pie, washed a pile of dishes, packed for an overnight at my sisters, paid bills (gotta see why the electric bill went up over $20!). I didn't get to making a welcome baby card for my cousin....sigh.

s anyone... Gunna have fun trying to find a place to sleep for tonight. Hopefully tomorrow won't be so bad sleeping arrangements-wise. We're stuck trying to find an air mattress right now.. lol. Oh well. I'm loving my new book at least.

Edit: Found an air mattress! yay~ Maybe I can convince one of the doggies to lay with us tonight too.

Tonight has not been too good for me. First, after 3 hours of chasing, cornering, being growled and snapped at, H's BFF and I were about to give up on my husky mix, Duncan. He has to be sedated and muzzled to be brushed and bathed (or for the vet to see him). We decided to give it one more try, and that's when I got bit. Luckily, H's BFF is in paramedic school and was able to clean out the wound (one puncture). I refused to go to the hospital. I will be extra vigilant about infection, but my dog is current on all shots.

We're currently trying to peel 36 hard-boiled eggs. At 2:20 in the morning. We're both night people (not like our spouses...poor H at work...I last talked to him about midnight).

On a more positive note, I was able to score a digital SLR camera for a good price. Been wanting one for awhile.

Poor cho... I've been bitten by my own dogs before too. Does your dog react like that out of his own anxiety maybe? Just curious.

She's my so-ugly-she's-cute rag dog. I love her to pieces. She's a pug/poodle mix.

Chopin - sorry that you were bit. Since your dog is current on shots and you know what signs to look for in case of infection, I'm sure that you will be fine. I guess that doesn't really make it feel any better though, does it? Are you pealing eggs for deviled eggs? That's a favorite of mine.

As bad as it sounds I am trying to stay away from any family festivities tomorrow. My brother and two of my nephews have the flu, which will leave just my mom and sister. I don't think that I can handle them alone.

I've no idea what sort of things you've tried but I've heard good things about reactive dogs and the thundershirt. I know you couldn't brush and wash with this on, but if it helped you could begin to desensitise to pre-bathing and grooming rituals? Do you do clicker training at all? I know it can be really hard when a dog is so reactive, but with clicker training you'd be moving forwards in tiny steps so it never escalates to the chasing and extremely anxious and defensive behaviour. Not that it's a quick fix of course, and I understand the need to just get the dog brushed and groomed.

I'm still holding out for my first DSLR too. I was able to borrow one for a photography course as part of my degree which was great. Now I'm missing having one! Hope you enjoy yours!

Morning all....Gobble Gobble...peace and love and all that jazz! Everyone gets a pass, eat what you want and as much as you want. No regrets, wiki's orders.

Hey Apt! Hope your having a good non-holiday my Swedish friend. Do you have a Thanksgiving type of holiday there any time during the year?

MKAC...you have baked, roasted and boiled your butt off! To hell with your mother and bil and sister. Eff them, you were kind and that's all that matters.

No beach walk today. I got up really early to meditate and read. Sore throat, so I am sipping some slippery elm tea.

Thanks for the stories of head shaving yesterday. You all really made me feel much better. I worry about the baldness. Your hair changes when it comes back, I am a natural ginger, and I always worry it will come back some ugly color.

Good morning, couch peeps....

I am NOT thankful for my daughter waking me up at 3 AM to tell me she's thirsty. She is so afraid of being alone or in the dark (even with a main light on in the house), that she relies on me even to get her from room to room at night. *sigh*

OTOH, when she did wake me up, I ended up with severe neck pain from the position I was sleeping in - and it apparently triggered a migraine. So, I guess it wasn't a bad idea that I woke up, cuz I'd imagine that I would've felt much worse had I slept for a few more hours in that position.

Went back to sleep but then woke up again after a very short time, cuz the house felt really hot to me....Had to turn down the heat, cuz that's another migraine trigger for me. Blech.

I am so OVER not getting sleep....*sigh*

Sila...cute dog. Little ankle biter, she's a love.

Chopin...yikes. Anything that puts that much stress on both you and the dog is not good. I had a cranky 17 yr old dog who got a bit aggressive in the end, he bit me good while I was clipping his nails. Ick.
