Not working there today...need to wait until next week. sigh. they were so dang cute, and they grab onto the syringes with their little hands. You have to stimulate them to get them to pee and poop after they eat...that's a bit disturbing. lol.

Today I am working on a few power points and a newsletter. And I am having to use an unfamiliar computer to do this. Sigh.

YIKES. I would not want to look at my mom's pic daily.

I have a session at Koko Fit Clubs on Monday. There is one near me and I am thinking of joining. My old gym is like 40 min away, not going to motivate me much to go.

Good morning, couch peeps!

Wow, that muscle relaxer knocked me out last night. It was well worth the grogginess this morning to be able to fall asleep so easily. I read a few pages from a book and then that was it for me!

I see T this afternoon. I'm debating on whether or not I want to crawl back in to bed for a few more hours. I always think it - but then find that I am wide awake and have things to do. But maybe, just maybe, I'll do it today. We'll see.

Wiki - That's awesome about your husband's award! I remember having to stimulate my kitty to get him to pee. It felt kinda violating, but I had to play the role of mama kitty since he was only about 2 weeks old when he was discovered without his mama. I was also told to swat at him when he was misbehaving, like a mama kitty. I had trouble with doing that - maybe that's why he's so nutty now, I didn't do a good job of it.

Granite - Good luck with the changes. Last year at this time, I was working out every single day at the gym, eating better, etc....then I fell off the wagon, as usual. *sigh* With all of my health issues and now sciatica being a problem, I have to figure out what kind of exercises I can do. I'm quite limited. Even walking is difficult due to the sciatica, multiple bone spurs in both feet and arthritis in my ankles and knees.

Granite, I wish we lived closer....I would totally work out with you every day, and then hit the candy store for sour patch kids. lol

I am doing damage control. I am pissing people off on the threads. Seriously, I don't know what gets into me some times.

Good thinking, granite! I find that an important aspect is that it's ok to fall off the wagon, just don't give up entirely. I do that way too often....stopped going to the gym when my mom was in the hospital last year and then gave up....which also led to giving up on eating healthy, etc. Ripple effect. I need to learn that not everything has to go to h3ll in a hand basket...LOL. Every effort is worth it.

...And I LOVE indian food....I haven't dabbled in making homemade indian food...There's a great indian restaurant in town that has an awesome lunch buffet. I even took myself there for my birthday - by myself - a couple years ago, because I wanted it and no one in my family cares for it. I sometimes meet up with some old co-workers at another local indian place. I'd love to figure out how to make a really good vegetable korma.

According to something I read, it's just to make the food look more appealing. I'd imagine it could be left out.

I can make channa dal, dhum aloo, paneer tikki...but that's about it. Stopdog is our resident Indian chef, she can give you some pointers.

make sure you use taste free food coloring (red food coloring has an icky taste). I generally go for concentrated beet juice instead.

I am not that great with a lot of Indian food (but I do appreciate the vote of confidence, Wikid)- I just can't bring myself to use as much oil/ cream as some of it calls for and - probably more to the point - I never know which region's version of a dish is the one I like. I have some friends who are Indian and I love to go to their various houses to watch them cook - asking for recipes is sort of useless as they all just use the "put in some X and a little Y and enough Z..." so I go watch instead.
For what it is worth, my friends often use the prepacked (from india - we have several Indian markets and also international markets around here) mixes = (like hamburger helper or taco mix but indian - just add a, b, and c to the mix).
I have not ever added food coloring - even to the tandoori stuff (which is just not as good ever since I do not have a tandoori oven) (a great disappointment to me and the partner is somewhat dead set against me trying to build one - she does go on about fires and my lack of building skill).
Thanks for this!

I would add, watch the salt content in the garam masala and the curry powders. I only found one curry powder that was salt-free, it was in an orange can.

Nope. The burden of educating and caring for children falls upon the parent. Your mother did not take care of you like she should have. She hurt you in terrible ways. You were dealing with it the best you could. Kids are innocent and learn behavior from what their parents teach them. Your mom was abusive, you learned to act out.

OK, now you have me craving indian food! I have a frozen indian meal in my freezer which just might have to be my lunch for today....

....I actually decided to lay down to take a nap...and then my phone rang. It was my manager from the agency, asking for my availability for the next few days - and then booked me for a hospital assignment tomorrow 6 AM until 4 PM. I enjoy the hospital jobs, but it makes for a very long day due to the gaps between work....

Granite, I can understand the self-blame as I do it as well. I can see why my parents were the way they were, because I was such a s h i t. At the same time, I can't imagine laying a hand on my child - even at her worst. I would never want to inflict pain on my child...which always leaves me feeling confused and conflicted because I don't give myself as a child the same level of compassion.

First of all, congratulations to your husband! Second of all, I'm packing and making brownies and stuff for a weekend trip and I'm too busy to do much except check in here. Care to PM me a summary? LOL.

I agree with this completely. I've told you, Granite, about seeing notes between my mom and my teacher. I imagine I was a very odd little kid and told "lies" all the time. HOWEVER, that does not change the fact that my parents were abusive and that the REASON I was odd and told stories was because I was never allowed to be around other kids except at school, had no one modeling "normal" behavior, and was fed a constant diet of lies and so had no clue what the truth even was and lived in my head constantly. If you could have seen what a little weirdo I was, would you think or tell my mom is was okay to lock me in rooms or hit me?

I hope you are okay with it, Granite, because I think (it seems to me) that people on here love you and are just trying to help you see that you should not take responsibility for other people's (the mother's) issues.

Sorry you're not feeling great, Hankster. I find a combo of chocolate and caffeine helps with cramps. [studies have shown it actually does and it's not just my imagination. lol]
